First visit to a Korean restaurant & I was pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent orchestrated by Sam, the owner. Food was superb starting with Korean Fried Chicken, Pork Dumplings, Kimchi & soup. For entrees the 12 of us ordered Stone bowls with rice, noodles & a variety of proteins such as beef, chicken, pork belly etc.
Be the first to ReplyKoreander is great!
My husband and I have been eating at Koreander since it opened a few years ago. The food is very tasty, the prices are very reasonable, and the service is great! They also give everyone at the table a complimentary miso soup and a few small plates of bonchon to share. The dishes that I really like are the Jaeyuk Dupbab and the Beef Bulgogi. Also, I like that you can choose the spice level of the dish, from not spicy at all to extremely spicy. Lastly, what I also really enjoy is that the restaurant is owned by a husband and wife team, and they are the ones that cook and serve. They are super nice, and they try to get to know everyone that walks through their door. So, it has a very homey feel!
Be the first to ReplyFirst Time Here And Will Return!!
I saw a review online and decided to drive to this place. It is a quaint, relaxed and clean place. I enjoyed the experience and was shocked not only at the affordable price and quality of food but the huge portions given! The ramen bowl with chicken was maybe $9 with chicken but was enough for 3 people! The miso soup was excellent and had a delightful different flavor than any I had previously. The rice bowls in wood bowl was on point! I shall return and bring larger group! The service was excellent!
Be the first to ReplyNOT Korean Food! Bland! Boring!
Went here with my two sons. Ordered $97 worth of food, and the nicest thing I can say about is that is was edible...but completely flavorless! Much more like bland Vietnamese Pho than any Korean dish weโve ever eaten. BTW we lived in Korea for two years, I took cooking classes in Korea, and we spent more than our fair share of time eating at Korean restaurants in Annandale, Virginia, which is known for great authentic Korean food! Donโt get me wrong, I enjoy Vietnamese food from time to time, but with Korean food I expect so much more! Flavorful marinades, galbi so tender it falls off the bone, kimchi fried rice that actually tastes like kimchi and KOREAN red pepper, instead of Tabasco sauce. There was NOTHING spicy or flavorful about the so-called spicy dishes, hot sauce aside. To say it was disappointing is an understatement. The staff and chef were extremely nice, so I feel badly having to give them such a poor review, but the truth is THIS IS NOT KOREAN FOOD! I am NOT saying that itโs not โmyโ kind of Korean food, but that it is simply not Korean period! Yes, they have meat resembling bulgogi and short rib....neither had any flavor at all, except beef...which is not the rich soy, sesame, etcetera that makes a Korean meat marinade. The other noticeably wrong was the toughness of the beef...something that would not have occurred had the near truly been marinaded properly the Korean way. The place is clean, the staff is nice, so if youโre simply looking for anything safe to eat, then this may be worth a quick stop. Just donโt expect actual Korean food, because this is not.
Be the first to ReplyA wonderful experience! Our favorite restaurant!
This is the best Korean restaurant I have ever visited (and we have visited many). The food is AMAZING and the staff is so kind and thoughtful and the ambience is really nice. We sat inside but you can sit outside too if you wish. We ordered Spicy Bulgogi Dupbap and Vegetable Bibimbap, and we still talk about how good it was weeks later. I highly recommend this spot! It is well worth a trip to Montclair to enjoy the experience!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Gochujang and Bibimbop
Have gone to this spot a few times over the summer and expect to keep going back. The food is nothing short of fantastic. This is especially true of the Bibimbop and accompanying gochujang. Was so impressed by the latter that I bought a jar to bring home.
Be the first to ReplyBi Bim Bap heaven
I love getting the vegetarian bibimbap in a hot bowl. So good! I rarely have to add any additional hot sauce; the flavor is wonderful on it's own. It's quick, easy, and perfect for lunch. NB: The miso soup served with dishes is NOT vegetarian. However, you can ask for a veg version. I always just ask for extra kimchee instead.
Be the first to ReplyKorean Food
Serves great tasting Korean food- Ramyen soup was really good, you choose the level of spiciness scale of 1 to 5, 5 being spiciest. Service was great, prices are moderate. Parking is on street, meters til 6 I believe. BYOB, liquor store across street.
Be the first to ReplyFriendly Chef & Great Bibimbap
Very pleasant/fun experience. Delicious food. Upon request, the chef will instruct you in Korean hand exercises while checking to make sure the spice/heat level is just right for your taste.
Be the first to ReplyKorean fix
If you leave in the Clifton-Montclair area and just want a Korean fix meal and dont mind about the real authentic Korean food, this is good place to go. My favorite Korean food is Japchae, here it was mostly onions and vegetables than the actual noodles. My daughter ordered the hotpot meal but they didn't used the cast iron plate so the rice didn't really get toasted like the places in a Korean town. Although the owner was so nice and friendly, I have not problem going back. Price is reasonable too.
