Pepolino New York Reviews from The Last Year
A trap of a place, terrible service.
DON'T think it's good... Don't fall into this trap of a place. Terrible service, we had a waiter who threw the plates on the table. I don't know why it has Traveler Choice. We ordered the horrible mushroom pasta A very bad chicken
Harsh comments
Just read an awful review and although I respect everyone’s opinion , I must say that it was very harsh … The food is not authentic Italian ?? Seriously? Under what criteria can someone say that? Just curious! I am Italian myself , therefore I can definitely say which restaurant serve authentic Italian food in NYC. Restaurant is small? Well, that’s the majority of restaurants in NYC for sure . I’ve dine several times at Pepolino, and it never been a disappointment! Keep up the greatness Pepolino!
Quick Trip to Tuscany
The family get together at Pepolino was like a quick trip to Italy. The place is very relaxing, small and quiet enough that we could all talk comfortably. We ordered the polenta con fonduta, maltagliati ragu, linguine nere di mar, the malfatti burro e sal, parpadelle cingiale and the fettucine al conigli. Everything was outstanding! The menu online is out dated and like all restaurants the prices have increased. However, the entrees were all in the $25-35 range which is very reasonable for NYC for the good quality received. Add in a nice bottle of vino and you can pretend to be in Tuscany!
Avoid avoid avoid
The manager, possibly the owner, was extremely rude. The restaurant is small and the Italian food is not authentic. I would avoid it at all costs if you want to have a pleasant night. It's better not to eat anything than being trapped there.
The menu at TripAdvisor is out dates
The food is ok, the menu prices at TripAdvisor are outdated. Actual prices are almost 50 percent higher, and gratuity of 20 percent is included in bill.
Toscano dining at its best
It was 'restaurant week' in New York and time to splurge on some restaurants that you would not normally visit. We chose a prix fixé meal of three courses. We started with a delightful Montepulciano D’Abruzzo from Cantina Valle Tritana and both still & sparkling water. This was coupled with a very crusty Italian bread and extra-virgin olive oil. Most of the group chose the Insalata Mista con Pachino E Scaglie di Parmigiano. Dan & Cole had the Antipasto Toscano, an assortment of Italian cold cuts, Bruschette, cheeses and olives. I had the Insalata Dei Medici, a mixture of cubed beets, carrots, zucchini, potatoes with a basil and balsamic dressing. There was wide divergence on the second course as well. Annette had the Bransino in Forno, (imported sea bass with oven-roasted vegetables). Dan had the Polpettini Di Vitella E Ricotta (veal and ricotta meatballs with tomato and basil coule). Cole had the Petto Di Pollo ai Porcini con Fontina (chicken breast sauteed with porcini mushrooms & Fontana cheese). Arlee had Pappardelle al Pepolino (pappardelle with tomato sauce and fresh time). I chose the Cinghiale (homemade Pappardelle with a wild boar ragout). Everyone was ecstatically happy about their Mains. Dessert was a choice of three : Torta Ricotta (ricotta cheese cake), Torta Di Cioccolato Amaro (bittersweet chocolate cake), and Panna Cotta Toscana con Salsa Di Fragole (a Tuscan panna cotta with fresh strawberry sauce). Everyone except me chose the bittersweet chocolate cake. I had the panna cotta with strawberry sauce. Everyone wanted to try it ; I ended up with very little. I did have a bite of the chocolate cake ; it was very rich. The trip down to Tribeca was worth it. I heartily recommend Pepolino Ristorante with two floors of inside dining as well as al freco sidewalk dining.
Wonderful food
My partner and I dined here and it was the best food I have had in months I ordered the chicken with citrus sauce potatoes and spinach I ate every morsel Sooo delish The sauce was divine Hubbie had the lamb chop with arugula Very good as well My favourite restaurant in NYC
Great NY Italian
This gem of a restaurant offers both an incredible lunch and dinner menu. They have a great wine list and the service is incredible. We were in NY for three days for the Tribeca Film Festival and ate there 3 times. Saw Christopher Walken at the bar on our last night. You just can't beat the home made pasta, bread and service. It gets a bit loud at night but that's because everyone is having such a great time there.

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
