Perch Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year

Came her for my moms birthday it was a party of 5, the ambiance was beautiful but the service was ok. I brought a cake and told the server we wanted to sing happy birthday. She took the cake back thinking she was just going to put it on a plate, and she already precut the cake and passed it out to us. Usually if you want to sing happy birthday you would want the cake not sliced yet lol. Smh Our steak also wasn't cooked to medium rare, but the fries with the sauce was really good. Other than that not sure if I would come back.
I was so excited to try Perch.
It's a very trendy and popular spot (as all rooftop experiences are) so I was glad I made reservations. There's indoor and outside seating. Both are lovely but inside is a bit cramped and warm. Plus to get the best view outside is better. Note that the actual rooftop is bar only. The dining room is the level below. Also when sitting outside in the dining level, try to get a table another end as opposed to alongside the inside area. Has better views. The service was wonderful albeit a bit slow. Understandably they're pretty busy but we had to wait a while for anything. Definitely get in a cocktail and appetizer to keep you busy. The food was delicious. I recommend the short ribs. It was so tender and the potato puree paired perfectly. The Chilean sea bass was also wonderful but didn't care for the creamy risotto. I prefer some sort of potato or rice with the fish (something not so wet). All in all, we had a great experience here.

My husband reserved yesterday 7/23/24 to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday. Upon arrival valet parking was fast and easy. Entering we were welcomed and guided to floor 13 to get floor 15th to the restaurant. We let the hostess know we had a reservation and was sat immediately. However she sat us in a table with no view and when I told her my husband requested a view and we could see empty tables she just replied they had none. Luckily Marina our waitress saved the night and made our dinner exceptional. She asked us to wait a minute as another table was about to pay. All her suggestions were absolutely delicious from drinks to dessert 10/10. Right before paying our check JR the manager with a great attitude approach us with champagne and had a conversation with us making us feel welcomed. He then invited us to the 16th floor which is a rooftop bar that we didn't know about. The ambiance there was so chill and romantic, perfect to end the night. Not to mention the security there was awesome and offered himself to take us a nice picture. Definitely will be coming back soon. Overall 100% recommended.
Great food but really expensive.
Not quite sure the prices are justified. Perhaps the fantastic view and service makes up for it though.
The food was decent but the service was terrible.
I don't understand how service can be so bad as soon as I sit down. I wouldn't come again because of it
Boeuf bordelaise is my fav thing on the menu followed
Boeuf bordelaise is my fav thing on the menu followed closely by the white chocolate bread pudding. Had dinner last night (Saturday). We were seated quickly without a res and Isaiah was incredible. Super nice, knowledgeable ab the menu and took great care of us. He definitely made the experience special, appreciate u Isaiah!!
Love the drinks at the Perch .
. I got the Spicy Jin drink and my friend got my fair lady.. bar tender offered great service.. we wend Saturday during sunset and the ambience was breathtaking and magical.
I came here with my two other girlfriends on Thursday night
I came here with my two other girlfriends on Thursday night around 9:30-10 pm and we were sat on the outside patio. We were served our food and it was okay. What really got me was the service we got from our server. Caucasian male with dirty blonde hair and colored eyes. I couldn't really tell since it was dark. It was totally unacceptable. We paid for our dinner in cash and were shortly given our change after. It seemed way too short to be our change and my friend had to calculate our check over and over to be sure that we were actually getting the change we were supposed to get back. We let our server know that the change we got back wasn't what we were owed and funny enough, he pulls out the rest of our change FROM HIS POCKET and then proceeds to toss the cash in the front of my friend's face. As someone who was seeking a nice dining experience from a really prestigious restaurant, this was totally unacceptable. Super disappointed.
OMG, we had seen this restaurant from afar, and it beckoned
OMG, we had seen this restaurant from afar, and it beckoned us to track it down and celebrate our anniversary there. It FAR exceeded our expectations! First of all, the views are absolutely spectacular, the staff were so attentive to every little detail you can imagine, and the food was just righteous. We will definitely be back. The manager, Brett, and our server, Darius, were particularly outstanding. Cheers!
Bad service how dare you be rude to a group of young girls
Bad service how dare you be rude to a group of young girls who are reserving and paying for their meals. My daughter attended today 18 with her cousin and friends to celebrate her birthday. Thank you for being rude on a day she's trying to celebrate shows the customer service you guys provide is biased. Be fair not just to those entitled LA people
The views are wonderful
Perch offers stunning views, especially at sunset. The cocktails are delicious, the food is okay. It's definitely a good option in downtown LA and good live music is always great!
Good food and great views
Perch has a good selection of dishes with a modern feel. Staff are well trained and friendly. Be sure to go early and have a pre-dinner drink in the rooftop bar as it has fabulous views of downtown.
Ok food, slow-ish service, overpriced menu
Ok food but overpriced and despite I said in advance that vegan option was required, there was only one or two options on the menu. I do not want a restaurant to cater to my specific needs but would like them to have the courtesy of informing me if they cannot accomodate my vegan request. The food we ate was ok but was overpriced for grilled vegetables. Also, service was quite slow. But the view is nice
No More Fees
Perch has decided that a 4.5% fee added to our bill from now on is a great idea. It is for security. Well, I don't drink, am not the one being over served, getting drunks and acting the fool, a few patrons have done this. So, now they are adding on yet another fee to go with their Health Insurance fee, which I refuse to pay as I have been told again and again by staff at several places that have this fee that it does them no good. I simply add it to their tip. Now, that is money in their pocket. But Perch has gone to far now. I will not pay a mandatory fee for security that I don't want and don't need. This is a cost of the eatery that serves alcohol and does not know when to toss a guest. The food has always been good, but this is crazy, and it is not that great. There are many Downtown LA places to dine that have great food and odd, not arguments or silliness among the patrons. I will take my business elsewhere. I am an adult and act like one. I will not pay for Perch to deal with guests who should have had their tab closed hours before. It is becoming just a silly bar. I don't do silly, and sure not at their prices. The roof is nice.
Bring your own security when you eat at this place
They charged me a 4.5% security fee but didn't walk me to my car after. Instead I just left the waitress a 10% tip instead of the usual 15% so everything is fine.

I went here again for a work dinner and was happy to be able to try more than the brunch food. Everything we got was delicious!

My S.O introduced me to the PERCH and let me tell you... I had an amazing time. Delicious drinks and food! The view was beautiful! Service was impeccable. For starters we shared SURF N' TURF SKEWERS Entrees : FILET MIGNON AU POIVRE (Med Rare) it was super delicious! Seasoned just right and cooked to perfection. BOEUF BORDELAISE was tasty, my S.O wanted the recipe to make it at home . live music with the view it was just amazing. CHOCOLATE POT DE CRÈME for dessert and their Berry LA drink was recommended by our server. We are definitely adding this to our list of places that we would recommend Rooftops has a bar, if it's open check it out!

Went for a date night and loved the views!!! Our server Val was so sweet and gave great suggestions. The French onion soup was and surf and turf was delicious!
Isaiah is the best bartender known to man.
His vibe is everything. I'll be back when he is!!!!
Such an absolute beautiful place to have brunch/lunch in
Such an absolute beautiful place to have brunch/lunch in downtown LA. We were seated inside as they can not accommodate larger parties outside. And keep in mind that if you are a party larger than 7, it will automatically be a prefix menu. They do offer 3 different prefix menus per the website, but we were only offered the 3 or 4 course meals with the cheapest being $45/pp which is what we opted for. The french toast was made with croissant bread which I felt did not work! The shrimp scampi was nothing special and honestly felt like I make them better with Trader Joe's ingredients. The best thing on the menu was the burger! Nothing beats a fried egg on a burger! Honestly, go for the view, the ambiance, the decor, the Insta pics, but don't go for the food. I would want to go back at night to see all of DLA lit up. They have a bar/lounge a couple of floors up as well! You will need a couple of elevators to reach your destination and since this is an older building, maximum 4-5 ppl on each flight!
The food was delicious.
Making a reservation is a must. Got to celebrate my birthday. The atmosphere was laid back but so hip.
I definitely enjoy the Perch.
I'm a sucker for salmon Benedict's so I tried theirs, paired with some coffee and of course a Bellini. Their muffins seemed a bit too old and chewy, but the taste was very delicious. Will be going back to check out the views and dining options at night.
One of my favorite places to hit up in downtown LA.
I love the views and the food is *chef's kiss* After dinner I always head to the rooftop bar for a few drinks. It can get pricey but worth it
The rooftop is a great place for a drink but it's usually
The rooftop is a great place for a drink but it's usually busy on the weekends so it might take a second to grab a seat. The restaurant is okay! I think it's a beautiful place with a nice view but the food won't blow you away. The service is great and friendly :) I would say it's great for a date and great to view the sunset
I've never been so offended in my life as I was asked to
I've never been so offended in my life as I was asked to leave the restaurant due to having a container of fruit in a bag with me. I've never heard of such a rule in my life. Discrimination and racism is what I believe it is.

I recently dined at Perch, a rooftop restaurant boasting a stunning view and cozy ambiance--ideal for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner. However, while the setting was great, the service left something to be desired, with some delays and lapses in attention. Octopus: 6/10 - It was cooked to perfection with a soft texture, but the accompanying sauce failed to elevate the dish, falling flat in terms of flavor. Little Bunny Frou Frou: 7/10 - Probably the best thing we ordered. The serving portion was small, but the sauce was rich and savory. Steak frites: 4/10 - Despite being a popular dish, it was very lackluster. The steak was disappointingly tough and lacked flavor. The truffle cheese fries that accompanied the steak were decent, but being served at a lukewarm temperature detracted from the overall experience. In conclusion, while Perch offers a charming rooftop setting with promising views and vibes, the inconsistency in service and the mixed quality of dishes leave room for improvement.
Had brunch here and food was mediocre and over priced.
Food reminded me of "diner quality" food. Also, called ahead to let them know we were running late but they were inflexible and rude. Views were nice but nothing memorable. Plenty of other rooftop bars in LA, I would strongly encourage you to save your money and go somewhere else!
I was scared to review because it is my favorite get away.
The food is delicious and service on a rooftop is priceless. The night sky surrounded by tall buildings is the backdrop to an urban utopia. No kids allowed!!!!
I've seen perch on TikTok before so of course we had to try
I've seen perch on TikTok before so of course we had to try it! We made dinner reservation for our 11 year anniversary & our server ( who I forgot her name ) made our experience amazing! My man & I have completely different preferences in champagne so our server brought out 3 types of champagnes for us to try ( on the house ) That was extra points for me already. We ordered our drinks ( we ended up getting a bottle of our choice ) & a charcuterie board with it. FIRE These were our main dishes & Bouillabaisse did it for me lol it is so delicious! My man tried it & took over lolol we ended up making small talk with the couple next to us & even the manager who we gave a nickname "teddy bear" He offered us free champagne on the house too & told us to come back to him & ask for him. Man idk but we got lucky with the staff here for us to get free drinks Perch we'll be back
Brisk Service - expect to be moved on after an hour
Used the Valet parking located outside the restaurant which cost $14. There was a short wait for our table which was situated outside with a view of the City. There was a fire & heat lamps. Service was brisk & after an hour we were hurried along as others were waiting for our table! We were celebrating our anniversary & were given a complimentary desert to share. Service was non existent as others have stated but tips are expected! Food was good but not exceptional - would give it a miss if ever in LA again - sorry
A great place for lunch - even in midwinter
We live in Oxford but hadn't been to The Perch for several years . But last month we had a light lunch of four starters and it was very good. So good that we went again two weeks later - and we'll go again. An important part of the offer is the outstanding service - in our case from Drew a charming former teacher.
Only for the view
We were on holiday in LA recently. A friend who lives locally made dinner reservations at Perch. We had a table with a rooftop view. And the view was phenomenal! Sadly I think the view is the only thing you would come here for. The waitress had very poor customer service. Her attitude was that she could care less about our table. When we made enquiries about food or drink, she said she would ask the chef of the kitchen. Then when she next came back and didn't answer our queries, we asked if she had received any answers. It was very obvious that she hadn't asked the chef or kitchen and just made up responses. The charcuterie board was like something I could buy at a local corner store - very basic and uninteresting cheese, meat, fruit. Nothing special. I will say that the live music was wonderful! Very talented female vocalist. If I came back here it would only be for drinks and the view.
7/10 Experience
The food was amazing and the view was a plus! Definitely a great spot for a date night. The only down side to the experience was our server Rosalind. I feel like there’s a way to give great customer service without stepping over boundaries. She was being way too friendly with my partner and wouldn’t stop making too much eye contact acting as if I wasn’t present as well. If I return I would make sure to request a different server.
Fascinating Location with Excellent Food
The Perch is on the upper floors of an older office building so it's surprising when you walk in the lobby and are guided to an elevator to the 13th floor. Then you change elevators to the 15th floor. Then as you turn the corner, the view out the the windows is stunning! We had a table outside. The views were stunning - the mountains to the east, the AT&T building directly across and the park to the west. The staff was warm, friendly and most helpful. The menu had a range of choices - both us had the sea bass with tasty carrots and risotto. All was quite yummy!
A dated restaurant
Perch LA is supposed to be a high end restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles. It does have some patio dining areas with nice views of the city. After making my reservation, I received messages warning about their rules, including upscale casual dress code, check in procedures, etc. The building lobby was dark and non-welcoming. I took an elevator to the 13th floor then another elevator to the 15th floor. The passageway was dated and unpleasant. The main dinning room and the bar looked out of style. My table was in the middle of the walkway in the patio area, very uncomfortable. The service was below average. The food was just average. The jazz singer was below average. They even charged a 4.5% Security Fee which I asked them to remove it. Well, they could have charged me for Elevator Fee, Entertainment Fee, City Lights Viewing Fee, etc. Upscale casual dress code? There was a 7 years old kid with sport jersey and short, running around. There were customers wearing T-shirts and jeans. They also managed to have the worst valet attendants. Perch is running down like the entire downtown area. There are many better restaurants in the same area. Perch is off my dining list.
Full Five Stars
Prior to this night, the last visit was at least six years ago, and this restuarant is still top notch. The food was superb and consistent, the music and ambiance is above the mark compared to other rooftop experiences. Yuna was our delightful waitress - fantastic in everyway, made the dinner even better. The bus boys moved us when we needed a heat lamp and helped us take pictures with the best view. We got to talking for a while with maitre d' Bret Wilson. He was one of the highlights for the night - welcoming, charismatic and funny, but he also runs the restuarant like the captain of a ship - very professional. Full Five Stars.
