We were starving, so it was decided upon dining at Petrine. Finding the entrance was kind of tricky, but managed to find the secret door. Reservations is recommended, since it's an upscale restaurant. Started off with cocktails which starts at $20.00 , the boyfriend had the "Last Word" and he ordered "Oh my Gato" for me. The cocktail was made out of gin, Parma Liquor, lime juice, cucumber. The cucumber was musdwith basil which gave it a bitter aftertaste (not my favorite)For appetizers, we ordered the oyster in a half shell. They were small, which resembled Kumamoto's which are creamy on its own or topped with a minuet sauce or a squeeze of lemon. Because it was a cold evening, I opted for the thief classic French Onion soup and roasted, Brussel sprouts. The soup was rich, slightly salty with a burnt aftertaste to it. The Brussels sprouts was was roasted with almonds and granola. The granola gave it an interesting flavor which I enjoyed. The boyfriend, had the Pierre grass fed burger, topped with watercress. Grilled onions, remoulade sauce, Rupert cheese and pommes frites on the side We also ordered their Cavatelli in a hand cut bolognese and basil. The experience and ambiance was nice, but I would spend my monies elsewhere. The staff were great in explaining the menu, which sounded delicious, but palette wise, it was a disappointment.
