I love the fact that this is a black owned restaurant! Great environment, wonderful customer service and last but most certainly not least, the food was delicious, We went for brunch on Sunday to celebrate my sister's birthday ; the grits were one of my favorites! I recommend checking out Post Beam, I will definitely be eating here again the next time I visit California!
Be the first to ReplyThis was our first time visiting this restaurant.
It was suggested as a great brunch place. The ambience was great and so was the food. We went for Sunday brunch on a rainy day. It was busy but not at capacity, however, the service was extremely slow. It took about 30 minutes from the time we ordered and when we got our food. I was a little disappointed that our food wasn't hot and we had to actually flag the waiter down for our drinks. After our food was served (shrimp and grits) we added on biscuits because there wasn't an option of toast or any type of bread with it. We waited quite a while for the biscuits to eat with our meal, but because our food was getting cold we had to eat it without the biscuits which came 20 mins later. (I timed it) After eating, the table was cleared and we just sat there. The waiter never came back to check on us, to see if we needed refills or anything. We waited another 15 minutes for our check. Which we had to flag the waiter down for. Thennnn once we got the check we waited again to pay, we flagged him down again! We didn't blame the waiter for his lack of training so we did leave a generous tip. I think this place has the potential to be amazing if only the waiters were properly trained on customer service. After all of that, I definitely would go back for the food And ambience.
Be the first to ReplyBrunch is fantastic.
I'd recommend the French toast and potatoes. The service is great too. You'll have to reserve a table prior to arrival or you may not have the opportunity to feast at this establishment. Highly recommend this restaurant for brunch. Sunday brunch is best.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food! A nice place for a small dinner party.
Service is good. Great ambience. I would recommend it for families.

Went with with a larger party of 6 and the service was wonderful. Waiter made sure to answer any questions we had and was very accommodating. I got the shrimp grits and it was delicious - was rich and creamy and I was very satisfied. We sat in the patio and they have outdoor heaters which helped combat the cold. Patio is pretty and there was a live musician which was such a nice surprise.

Parking: Ample Vibe: I could stay here for several hours, great music Service: pleasant and attentive (+attractive), fantastic service, they accommodated my off menu request for Caesar salad Drink: Paloma - very refreshing and the spicy rim is a nice twist that I will duplicate at home. Prices: $$ typical brunch fare, a little cheaper than the DMV Food: Delicious, shrimp and grits are savory and properly portioned Get in here y'all!!
Be the first to ReplyI love the brunch at Post & Beam.
Like, it never disappoints. The shrimp n grits is delicious. Grits are hard to do, but they do them right here. They're creamy and cooked to perfection. The shrimp is seasoned well without being too salty and I always get a waffle on the side. It's an interesting combo, but the waffle is so good. It's light and fluffy and I appreciate that because it's easy to mess up a waffle or pancake and make it too dense. They nail it here. The cocktail list is impressive with some pretty creative cocktails and the ones I've had were very good. My only complaint is that both times I went the service was pretty slow. I wanted to order a second drink but the server never came back around. Other than that, the food here is amazing and I highly recommend it.
Be the first to ReplyNice ambiance.
Me and some friends went for brunch. A guy playing the violin was DOPE!!!

I ate here a few weeks a and it was ok! Love the fact that it's Black owned. The restaurant has a lot of great features such as pictures that explain the history of the place! There's also a patio outside for larger parties/groups. If your in town or in the area, it's a nice place to eat! Great place to find a little culture.
Be the first to ReplyFood was good; however, for the price it is not worth it.
Also, the food took forever to come out, finished a whole bottle of champagne before it did. We ordered the French toast, which we've seen pictures of what it's supposed to look like, BUT gave us ONE piece of toast, which they tried to cut up to make it look like more. THEN, since i was so hungry after i ordered the 1 piece of toast, i tried calling my waitress but she was too busy talking to someone at the bar, in which we couldn't give another order until 20 min later.
Be the first to Reply4 stars because the food was fantastic, but the wait time
4 stars because the food was fantastic, but the wait time for food to be delivered after you order was excessive. Service left wanting for more. It was not an extremely busy night when we went and there were numerous empty tables so the hour long wait from ordering the food to food delivery was extreme. The food was all delicious! From the corn bread to the catfish, to the oxtail grilled cheese! No complaints there! A few notes: We notified the server that we were sharing everything so they could have brought the food out as it was ready, but instead they waited and delivered everything all together. The server seemed disinterested, but warmed up as the evening continued. They did not attend often enough to refills and then the bus boy took our cups before we were finished. We had to ask for more water cups. We had also ordered beer and wine that evening. The desserts were simply not very great! For such a rich menu and savory food, the desserts left us sad to finish the meal on. Overall, the ambiance, the music, and the altogether restaurant were fine. Few tweaks to work out, but food was good! Would return.

Food is amazing, seriously try the pancakes! The service is fast and friendly workers, it can be a little crowded and loud for sure but overall great vibes and drinks. This is a cool spot to go to with friends on a brunch day!
Be the first to ReplyService My people , my people .
.....my people Waitress was a bit pushy with taking our order . She seemed annoyed when I told her NOT bring out the entrée with the appetizers. I made reservations that were kept and it seemed she was in such a rush to prepare for the reservation behind us. It felt like hurry up and order , eat and get out. Meal was nice , nothing cold or under / over cooked . Menu was limited. Upon leaving the waitress made it a point to approach me and ask " was everything alright " I kindly said yes , she then said you didn't want to leave a tip ? I immediately counted to 10 , I smiled and said yes " did you check your table ? " I understand young people these days and trying to have as much patience with them as possible. If anyone from P & B reads this have a meeting with your wait staff and a little talk on etiquette. As far as ambiance it was loud . Felt like a bar more than a restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyWent here for Brunch.
To be honest I didn't like the food but it could have been just what I ordered. The portions are small which is fine but the food had a weird citrus like flavor. The grits had it and the salmon croquettes! I absolutely didn't like that. I also had eggs. The home fried potatoes had no flavor at all. Things that I don't eat looked good. The biscuits and chicken and also the waffles. I might go back and try something different maybe for dinner.

My taste buds were assaulted last night and I was embarrassed. I brought a friend to Post + Beam to celebrate his birthday. The last time I was there was a little over a year ago for the Black Supper Pot dinner. I planned to start my night with the Jerk wings only to be told that there was no Jerk sauce....it wasn't that big of a deal, so cool I'll take the buffalo. So out come my wings, which looked delicious and unfortunately tasted like rubber and didn't include the plantain mash that was on the menu. As a Jamaican, I was already disappointed that I didn't have any Jerk sauce, but no sauce and no plantain. I ate a single wing. The wings were so bad that my friend didn't even want to take them home. Now this could've just been a bad batch. However, the general sentiment at the table of the five of us who were there was that the dining experience was fine. Having eaten at this establishment at least 4 to 5 times in the past, the quality of the food is typically a lot higher than that. I hope that I just attended on a bad night and that the food gets back to the level that I'm accustomed to.
Be the first to ReplyGreat ambiance inside the restaurant.
Lively atmosphere, good music and good service. Also there is an outdoor patio. Being one of the first patrons for Saturday brunch it did take a bit for my order to come out but I was vibing to the music and didn't mind the wait. I had the Shrimp and Grits which was Ok but I feel like the dish was a bit basic. Also had a peach Bellini that was really good! I will definitely be back to try a different dish as the waffles smelled so good and I noticed other dishes on their menu that I want to try
Be the first to ReplyI saw this restaurant and I thought it'd be nice to try out.
It was very stuffy and humid inside of the restaurant, it was very loud, the service was slow despite the restaurant only having two-three parties there when I arrived. Once we were seated, it took nearly 20 minutes for a server to appear and then after we ordered it took 20 more minutes to receive our beverages, and it was an hour or more longer waiting for our food. I ordered a pizza and it was good, but the crust was charred and it wasn't even hot when it arrived. The waiter never checked back in while eating until almost 45 minutes after being served. I was comped for the pizza, however, I will never return to this establishment nor when I encourage anyone else to come here.
Be the first to ReplyThe first thing as you enter the restaurant facility you
The first thing as you enter the restaurant facility you were immediately overwhelmed with a heavy smoke, fried fish Oder. Which set the stage for the balance of my evening. It was our 33rd anniversary celebration and my wife had been asking about making time to go and check this place out from our hour and half drive from Simi Valley. We had been told that it was a up and coming comfort food restaurant on the west side, rather chic , formal tables hard to gain access . Food was middle of the road I mean 2 or 3 star, found beef short ribs seasoned great very tender but not really sure if it was actually beef short rib , no bone with the serving , cornbread below average, black eye peas bland . Price point was high due to Mr Biden's economy understood . But looking for white linen tabletops and service too the max for this price point. I realized I passed half dozen like Resturant's I could have done better. I explained in reservations that it was anniversary night I was expecting something different then a red top table and below average food. Maybe it was a bad night for high expectations, i really wanted to support you but I can't recommend mediocrity . Oh also nothing fancy or reportable with wife's Cat Fish sorry

Lovely servers and tasty treats. Just down the hill from View Park. Convenient. Fun. Great place to bring friends.
Be the first to ReplyI really wanted to give this place one star, however they
I really wanted to give this place one star, however they have really great customer and a really good vibe/ambiance. Here's where my problem is, the FOOD. I ordered the oxtail hash and that could not have been oxtails, more like shredded beef with poached eggs. My eggs weren't runny and my food was cold so I sent it back. They gave me new eggs but the rest of the dish was still Luke warm at best. The potatoes also did not taste fresh. My mom ordered pancakes, eggs and chicken. That pancake had absolutely nooooo flavor. Syrup didn't even help. However, the chicken was good. My girlfriend ordered the catfish nuggets, and breakfast potatoes. The potatoes were regular so no complaints there, but the catfish nuggets were over cooked, dry, and salty. None of the food came out hot, except the chicken. Which was wild to me because we waited forever for cold food. I was really excited to come to this restaurant but unfortunately I will not be returning because the price we paid, $91, was not worth it at all.

Post & Beam has been through a few owners and I have lived all of its iterations - but I have to commend the current owner/team on their professional yet friendly atmosphere. One always feels welcome here and the service is exceptional - to the point that a water glass is never empty.Must try-Shrimp and Grits - one of the best in townVegan Crab Cakes - almost wouldn't know it's veganCornbread - straight out of the hearth in a cast iron ... what?!Greens - almost as good as Mom's Mac & Cheese - taking it home if that says anything!!!
Be the first to ReplyGood restaurant.
Cool vibes, food was fulfilling and tasty. Service was a bit slow which they tell you that on the website. Overall yes I would go again. Best to make reservations, which we did not but was able to sit at the bar.
Be the first to ReplyHere today, Saturday March 11, 2023 at 5:00 when the food
Here today, Saturday March 11, 2023 at 5:00 when the food became available. Came for the bar. Asked for a HBCU and a Mai Tai. HBCU came quick. The Mai Tai, apparently the "bar tender" had to look up the recipe which clashed with the owners recipe. Interesting. Ok let's make it simple I asked for Grand Marnier on the rocks. I get Grand Marnier with lots of ice and it was watered down, it was soupy ...Who adds water to a liqueur? Ok let's make it even simpler, beer which happily came with no issues. I HIGHLY suggest you either get a "real" bartender or invest in your employee and send them to bartending school for the basics. If I come into a restaurant nothing is more frustrating than someone who truly (through no fault of their own) knows how to make serious bar drinks when you appear to have a "full bar". It would be worth it. The last owner had a real bartender and I was able to get my Mai Tai and it was delicious! Let's step it up. You could be known as having a top shelf bar and we all know the alcohol is where the real money is. Good Luck!
