We came here for a restaurant week reservation friday night
We came here for a restaurant week reservation friday night at 7:30 PM. Parking wasn't too bad to find but it can be difficult since it's all street parking. The interior is extremely nice, definitely makes you feel like you are at a fancy restaurant (even though the attire is smart casual) We were seated immediately then the servers got us still water and took our orders for the drinks. We both didn't want to drink alcohol so we ordered some mocktails. I had the pineapple mocktail with coconut creamer and it was delicious. Amuse bouse: 5/5 This was house made potato chips with a smoked fish dip. The chips were nice and crunchy and the fish dip was exquisite, pleasantly salty with a good texture. Amazing Hamachi Crudo: 4/5 I like the foam around the fish and how it paired with the herb oil. Only complaints were on the mint and green almond toppings(too strong for me) and the hamachi tasted a bit fishy. Free bread: Halfway through we got a free loaf of bread and butter. Wasn't anything mind blowing but it tasted good and was welcomed. Steak: 4.5/5 The steak was cooked beautifully and the potatoes were made very well too. Only complaints were that the potatoes were too salty at some bites and i wish they had more sauce for the steak. Dessert: 5/5 I loved how the dessert all came together. It was presented very nicely, i liked the crisp of the meringue as well as the overall flavors meshing together. Accoutrements: Great way to end the night, our favorite was the chocolate bite. All in all, for 80 dollars this was a steal and service was quite good too.

I had a wonderful Birthday experience today!! (04/05) and I would go back to this restaurant. I think where a lot of the disconnection between the reviews and the overall experience lies in the expectations set by guests. Some were complaining of not enough formal service while others were complaining it was too formal. Or like women coming inwearing athlesuire attire. It's quite literally located next to the Marina, what could you possibly expect? They serve a variety of different people. The ambiance was nice and the music was great. It really fit the atmosphere and made the overall vibe really nice. Everything was very clean which I appreciate. The server(s) were very knowledgeable in wine and even had a Sommelier which was nice. When it comes to the food, it was like a mix of really good and subpar. We started out with the appetizers were well done. For our entrees, I got the scallops and my partner got the filet mignon. I think there needs to be clarification when it comes to the size of the cut. There was no initial expectation, but it was just small. It was plated beautifully but there were quite literally 2 potatoes. And there was no seasoning on the meat which made it tough, not very tender, and took away from the dish. The scallops were really good and I would recommend that to anyone interested in a seafood dish there. Moreover, everything was plated very nicely. I also appreciate how the staff/ management paid attention to details which definitely contributed to the flow of the restaurant. Thank you to Carlos & his server in training. Service was wonderful 10/10
Be the first to ReplyFood is great menu changes based on what is in season.
Kathy the owner-mingles with guests making folks feel like family. The bar is a great place to hang out served by best in class Manager Abraham and fabulous Tyler. Five nights a week 4-10p. Great fun and food. $$$

Stopped by for a pre-show drink and was blown away by Abraham's cocktail skills - seriously, he whipped up three absolutely delicious drinks. Even got my friend hooked on mezcal, which says a lot! Plus, the burger and ceviche were spot-on. If you're in SF, swing by and ask for Abraham behind the bar. He was so accommodating and just had a great vibe. - five-star service all the way.

Came here for a Saturday night dinner and had a good experience. Loved the interior of this restaurant, modern and creative. Tried foie gra, duck, lamb chops, octopus. Everything was delicious except for octopus which tasted a little burnt. Good wine and a friendly service. It was not crowded and not loud, exactly what we were looking for.
Be the first to ReplyBooked a last minute dinner here and had a good time.
I enjoyed the Hokkaido milk bread, the whipped feta and garlic dip with veggies, and the seared scallops entree. Also appreciated the awesome sommelier who helped us pick out a great bottle of wine. Reservations were fairly easy to come by.
Be the first to ReplySince the start of the pandemic, Prospect has never
Since the start of the pandemic, Prospect has never returned to dinner service on the weekends, which was unfortunate because it had definitely been one of our staple restaurants that we would visit on a special occasion, for a friends' birthday or just because if we're feeling it. But often times, the place was packed on the weekends; and you definitely needed a reservation to get in, even the bar area was filled to the max. This is the first time in a long time where both me and my partner were free on a Friday evening... When we went to dine in this week, upon sitting down we could tell things were different. For one, there was hardly anyone in the dining room for a 6pm reservation. Couldn't believe it. We were sad to see what covid has done to restaurants in this entire industry, and Prospect was not immune to the repercussions. Our waitress although nice, was just not as refined as you would expect for this type of establishment. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and we were worried that she may not have gotten all of them, since she did not callback the order before walking away from the table. I think that It's not only beneficial for the staff but also for us as customers to make sure we ordered everything or in our case, over ordered! Ha! It's fine, I realize I'm being somewhat overly critical about it, because service was fine, she was nice and attentive for the most part and provided good service. Just the level of attentiveness needs to be upped for this type of sit down restaurant. Now, onto the FOOD. I'm almost 100% sure they've changed executive chefs since pre pandemic. The food is not even close to what we remember. The presentation for one is not what we remember. Huge clunky uneven cuts of fish, the knife work and plate presentation was awkward looking at best. Someone in the kitchen had a heavy hand on salt last night. Over seasoned scallops. Over seasoned tuna. Salty cucumbers. Just how?? I kept looking around the dining room to see if other people were okay with the food being what it was... like were we the only ones that missed the memo? Anyways that was a fail. A sad fail because we really loved the restaurant before! The ambiance, the warmth, the flavors of their food wrapped you in a welcoming hug. It was such a treat to eat there in their heyday. I hope they are able to get their footing back one day. It's a beautiful restaurant, we hope it will succeed again.
Be the first to ReplyIt seems like just yesterday that Prospect opened.
I remember the days in the boom times of FiDi that it was always packed. Well, now its not so packed. We went on a Wednesday night and it was probably at 20% capacity. No reservation was needed. I suspect it gets busier on the weekends, but the COVID crash really affected restaurants like Prospect. I'm happy to support them. We always start with the Bellwether Farms Fresh Ricotta Ravioli. It has morel mushrooms and a souce of mushroom beurre fondue. Then I jump to the Pan Seared Angus Filet Mignon cooked medium rare. It comes with Yukon gold potato gratin and shallots. Deeeeelicious! They always cook it perfect. With a glass of wine, your at about $120 per person with tip and tax. Parking is easier nowadays in this area at night. We can usually find a place within 2 blocks. Don't leave anything valuable in your car though.

Came to prospect on Valentine's Day after a fail with service at "Epic" steak (review can be read on their page). We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and appetizers. Appetizers (scallops and braised short rib) were so good we decided to order entrees (filet mignon and pork chop). AMAZING! The pork chop and filet were cooked perfectly. We also opted for dessert (dark chocolate ice cream with adffogato and snickers bob bon) that was really good as well. And not to mention service was incredible, Abraham was very nice and attentive the whole night. Thank you Prospect for saving our Valentine's Day.
Be the first to ReplyJust got back from dinner last night.
Fantastic, attentive service. The way they cleaned the table of crumbs, carefully wiping it with a cloth (not a metal bread crumber) highlights the attention to detail. Having had steak and fish dinners recently, I landed on the pork chop. Cooked nicely, tasted like a sweet, luscious piece of pork (almost filet mignon like). Started with the tuna crudo and the ceviche, no complaints there. It was very lively, quite full, and yet with the high ceilings and airy atmosphere, never felt crowded. I'll be going back very soon.
Be the first to ReplyProspect is such a treat.
It's a beautiful, open, contemporary space inside, but you still feel cozy at a table. The bar up near the door is a fun place for a bite and a drink with some people-watching after work - but if you eat a single plate here you'll be back for a full meal. The dinner here is just outstanding. The flavors on the plate all sing together with a kind of perfection exceeding what I'd ever expect at this price point. This would be an awesome venue for a romantic Friday date...but it's also our favorite place to get a couple small plates before tabletop on a weekday. The folks working here are always so friendly, and the service is fine-dining tier - all those little touches, having the right pacing for apps, mains, and the dessert menu, etc - the stuff you don't expect but do appreciate. The desserts here are art. Thankful for restaurants like this!

Be the first to ReplyCame here for a birthday dinner and it did not go well.
The service was unprofessional. When I was not at the table, a waitress hit on my boyfriend. The main waitress who took our orders did not write them down, so I ended up waiting for my main entree (filet mignon) that never came.It was quite loud in here as well. I don't know why this restaurant thinks it's a classy place when there was people coming in with yoga pants on and even a couple had a poodle with them. To have this type of service for my boyfriend's birthday was very unprofessional and very concerning.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time dining at Prospect for an office holiday dinner
First time dining at Prospect for an office holiday dinner party. The meal was enjoyable, however service was not up the same high standard as the food. It may have been the fact that we had a large party, or the fact that there were multiple other large parties happening concurrently, or the fact that it was a busy Friday night. Servers seemed disorganized, unprepared, and had to be reminded countless times about our drinks or to refill of water. Items I recommend: - Roasted Kabocha squash hummus - Fried brussels sprouts - Prospect fries - Hokkaido milk bread - Roasted honeynut squash soup - Northern halibut - Meyer lemon panna cotta I am glad to have tried Prospect. Minus two stars for the poor service but the flavors, complexity of ingredients, and presentation were five out of five.
Be the first to ReplyWhile we have a few favorites in the city, my partner and I
While we have a few favorites in the city, my partner and I decided to try something new and give Prospect a go--and we're glad we did! The atmosphere is nice; we came for a late night dinner and it was dark with candlelight, and I was surprised by the amount of space. Many SF restaurants (even the very good ones) are quite small and packed, but this place has plenty of tables, spaced far enough apart for some privacy. And as someone with a handicapped father, I can give it the ok for being wheelchair accessible, which is often not the case! The food itself was very good! I will say it's nothing mind blowing in terms of creativity; it presents classics that are well made, with maybe a couple twists thrown in. The portions were decent, although I will say the lobster ravioli we got (while not as expensive as other dishes) was quite small. My partner ordered the steak and he said it was probably the most tender one he'd ever had. I tried some and I have to agree--it was basically "melt in your mouth" levels. My duck was well flavored and went well with everything in the dish, although I do wish the duck was as tender as the steak. The knives we were given had a hard time cutting through the duck. The meatballs tasted comforting, like they were homemade, although again they were tougher than expected. The Hokkaido milk bread was one of my favorites; the bread is crispy on the outside and so soft and fluffy on the inside, and the butter was absolutely delicious! Only downside was my partner found it slightly cold/lukewarm in certain places, which I imagine just means the bread needed to be reheated a bit longer. Dessert was fantastic; the chocolate cake was just what I want in a dessert and my partner enjoyed his affogatto a lot too. The service was friendly and polite; I don't remember us being overlooked and we were able to get our check fairly quickly.Overall a very good restaurant! It's not our favorite (yet!) out of all the fine dining in SF, but I'd be happy to go back.

The place is great for drinks (and maybe appetizers) after work. We were not impressed with the food, specially considering how pricey this place is. There's many other places that serve better meals for this price range. Overall the service has been top notch both at the bar and in the dining room when we've come. We'll keep this place as a go-to spot for after-work drinks, but will save our appetite for elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyA shocking, dreadful, horrible experience to say the least.
We live in the neighborhood and have tried prospect several times. Our experience last night was just insane and jaw-dropping when we were approached by the GM Saul for sending back a overcooked chewy pork chop back. He came in very aggressive and started blaming us immediately for a dish that clearly was not up to standard. He literally ran over to our table and started attacking us verbally. He said, " what's wrong with your pork chop? don't order it if you can't afford it" He then went on to tell us we can't come back to the restaurant or reorder the dish... it was so appalling and honestly the most degrading experience of my life. We spoke to the owner/manager Kathy about our experience and all she did was make excuses for her GM. It was disappointed and disturbing to see this kind of behavior. As a small business owner myself having experienced this vile and repulsive behavior was insane. Definitely will not be going back along and I don't recommend it.

We came on Friday night without reservation and the place was half empty. It kind of made sense after we tried food. I personally wasn't blown away with any dish, and we ordered a lot to share. The service was great. The location is great also. But I doubt I'll be back

I utilized Prospect after trying to find a location for a team event and having a difficult time nailing pricing, meal options etc. Prospect was on its game. (Edit: clarification)What I liked:- easy to navigate planning and contracts for large groups- method for selecting a menu and coordination was all done via a service, there was no question who was doing what and when - the food selection was universally liked, the ability to support special dietary needs was not additional or difficult to manage WITH the pre-selected menu - service was exceptional. They were prepared and efficient - we had the semi-private room so it was a fantastic mix of quiet yet with the larger dining experience - location was easy to walk and access- food was fantastic - pay structure was easy and best priced for the food, service and experience Prospect was a true gem for our team. Everyone appreciated the great food, great drink selection, and overall dining experience. If you're tasked with setting up a meal with a large group, Casey will take care of you. She wasn't on site the day of our event but you wouldn't know. The place works without the person planning everything. Thanks!
Be the first to ReplyCelebrated my birthday with my husband and dear friends.
We loved being downtown, loved the modern decor. Service from the time we walked in the door until we left was friendly and efficient. The entire meal was lovely. The cocktails were interesting and delicious. Excellent appetizers: the squash hummus with those yummy gf crackers delighted my friend who has Celiac's disease. Loved the French fries! Seriously! So simple but so good. Three of us had the halibut but I went for the duck and that was really nice with the lentils and beets. And damn the desserts were beautiful to look at and so good...especially the cheesecake! Will go back!

We've been to Prospect several times, and have always been excellent. The food is fresh, creative, and delicious--you can tell they're doing their best to serve healthy options. The service is always friendly, helpful, and professional. There's no doubt that this place is a good choice for business dinners or date nights.Downtown parking can always be challenging, but post-Covid, it's been much more manageable.
Be the first to ReplySolid upscale restaurant with a romantic ambiance.
Drinks: We really enjoyed the wine selection, next time we'll have to try the cocktails Appetizers: egg Chitarra pasta was nice and creamy but just slightly bland Seared Spanish octopus was amazing with a decent portion of octopus in a red sauceMains:Halibut with butter and chorizo sauce - great, all the elements paired together nicely and the fish was fresh and flakyRoasted liberty duck breast with lentils - the flavor was great but my piece of duck was a little chewier and collagenous than typically cooked duck breast and I wonder if was because it was a little undercookedDessert: Chocolate cake with home made ice cream - this was one of THE best ice creams I've ever had!!! Toasty and sweet with what seemed like toffee chunks, I even asked the waiter where they got this from so I could go buy some haha. He offered to give me a scoop for him but I didn't want to embarrass myself any further lol. Port - I had one of the ports and it was solidOverall would come back for more!
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for a private event or night out with friends.
The food is well done and love the female forward concept!
Be the first to ReplyWent here for a company event with a large group.
They had organized a "simple 3-course menu" for us. The place has a lot of people but it was not noisy. The food was tasty and came at a good pace. As this was a company event they wine poor was heavy, maybe a bit more than needed. Otherwise great service.
Be the first to ReplyHad a great Friday evening here with a friend.
We started with drinks at the bar where the bartenders were super friendly and the drinks were great. We did not opt for the craft cocktails but each stuck to our usual standbys- ketel and soda for me and mezcal margarita for my friend. Both were great. For appetizer we had the tuna poke w furikake rice crisp and it was delicious. Could have eaten a whole second order of it! We split the salmon and the truffle risotto. The truffle risotto was sooo good I did not want to stop eating it. The salmon was good but not as good as the risotto. If you are not with someone that shares, pick the risotto. Service was great, ambiance was good.
