DELICIOUS! Great customer service, the food is amazing, it is a lively place and very comfortable. Perfect to go out and have a nice drink or eat. The owner is so nice and will attend to anything. Went there with my girlfriend for our anniversary and then for her 21st, the owner made sure we had the best time, bet food, and memorable experience! 5/5 totally recommend!
Be the first to ReplyGreat vibes, very small and intimate.
They do not have a full liquor license so if you're looking for a good cocktail, this is not your spot. The drink I got was very sour and citrusy.. and wasn't a huge fan(Soi Y Sol) However, the food was AMAZING. We finally found a place that served aguachile and it was to die for! The tuna ceviche was also very tasty. We ordered carnitas tacos and the fish taco. All were very flavorful as well! I hope they eventually get a full liquor license because this is such a cute date night spot and would love a nice spirit forward cocktail. Service was also pretty slow at the beginning but that's understandable for a busy place.
Be the first to ReplyI'm actually obsessed with this place.
It's so cute in here and their seafood is bomb. The ceviche mixto was incredible and their shrimp tacos were so good- the tortillas tasted so fresh and the shrimp was so tender. Our server was so nice and helpful with recommendations. I need to go back asap!

This place has got to be the biggest disappointment since I moved to Boston. I was here a couple years ago, got the best service and the best food. The combination of the service at the bar and the delicious food made us want to go back only to find the place completely changed. Awful service, if I could give 0 stars I would. Took hours to greet me and when they finally did, it was with the worse attitude. Service is slow and they seem not to know what they're doing. Food is bland, and the Puro bowl is straight trash, seems like they are using all their leftovers. They painted over the decorations, and it looks horrible. This place needs new management asap.
Be the first to ReplyI must say this restaurant really impressed me.
The service was amazing, along with the food and drinks! I had lobster tacos and a puro bowl and it was to die for!

Some of the reviews really got me excited for this restaurant, only to be let down. All the drinks are SUPER sweet, you're better off sticking to wine or straight liquor. For dinner, the portion sizes are rather large- I did appreciate the waitress letting us know we had ordered enough appetizers, and to cancel 2 of them. We ended up having way more than enough food for 2 people. We sampled the tuna ceviche, elotes locos, patatas bravas, and mejillos con coco (mussels). All of the dishes were average; none were amazing and all lacked seasoning. The environment itself is really cute. I love the colorful murals, the decor, and the feel of a "small bar". I was disappointed in the drinks, and not blown away by any of the food, so I probably would not return here again.

Be the first to ReplyA genuine, comparatively less overpriced spot on Newbury!
A genuine, comparatively less overpriced spot on Newbury! We were a group of 3 walking in on a Friday around 6:30 and got seated at a large table. We only ordered enough food for half a dinner probably: Seabass ceviche - fresh, a decent amount of fish compared to other mix ins, but couldn't really appreciate the usual butteriness of cooked seabass. Not super memorable. 3/5 Calamari - the tubes were so mini and cute, fun to crunch on! But a small portion, 3.5/5 Fish tacos - these were less of that typical beer batter-type fried fish, more just a thin spiced breading, so texturally it wasn't very satisying to bite into. Flavors were good, but not memorable either, 3.5/5 Cachapa - my favorite! A corn pancake with a sweet maple butter flavor but the corn flavor comes through too and you get little bites of corn kernels plus saltiness from the queso fresco. The texture is dense but soft, not fluffy, kind of like Sarma's cornbread, more like a pudding. The smoked aioli highlights the sweet and savory combo wonderfully! 5/5!!

I was pleasantly surprised by the incredible quality of PURO's plantains. Although they aren't crispy, I found the softer texture to be enjoyable, especially when paired with crumbled fresh cheese on top. The standout dishes on their menu are undoubtedly the seafood ceviche and the grilled octopus. The ceviche is expertly seasoned and strikes a perfect balance of tanginess. As for the octopus, it is simply amazing! It's incredibly tender, not at all chewy, and has a delightful charcoaled flavor that personally, I love! The service at PURO was both friendly and fast, adding to the overall positive experience. Situated on Newbury Street, it's a great spot to sit outside, have a chat, and indulge in some people-watching. I will definitely be returning to PURO in the future!
Be the first to ReplyHad lunch here during the week.
The mixed ceviche was really tasty and the octopus was delicious. They only negative was that the service was a bit slow despite not being busy.

Great hidden spot with amazing ceviche - we had the octopus and sea bass ceviche and then the shrimp tacos and all of it was just so good. Even the plantain chips you get. Ambiance is a great hidden spot below the stairs and a good energy for our late night
Be the first to ReplyA great evening with dear friends from Italy.
We ordered the Tacos, the Tuna and the grilled octopus. All of it delicious! Beer selection was perfect and the service was very attentive and very friendly. Truly a little gem on Newbury Street! The atmosphere is very cozy and frankly feels far away from Boston. ;)...

Be the first to ReplyGreat cerviche.
. super fresh. Octopus and shrimp. Mussels with coconut milk - spicy and tangy. Cochettos so delicious.

This restaurant is a hidden gem thats conveniently located on Newbury street. I've been a regular and I am constantly amazed by how incredible the food is! I always get the mussels that are made with coconut milk and Thai paste. The tacos are fresh and protein is perfectly cooked. They do $3 tacos on Tuesdays and $1 oysters on Thursdays. This place is small and it gets crowded quickly. Sometimes I'd feel like the waitress is urging for me to get out of the restaurant but will still return nonetheless!
Be the first to ReplyThe steak tacos were good and the drinks.
Try it if you want to try something new! The mussels were a hit for my friends!!
Be the first to ReplyFood was amazing! Atmosphere is great.
Definitely a Boston gem!! Great service and the music selection is fun.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was pretty good.
But the waitress that was there needs to learn a lot how to be a good waitress. first, I arrived 15 minutes before my reservation and the first thing the waitress tells me that I only have an hour and a half to stay at the table, I didn't even sit down and she already wanted to take my drink order and every moment she mentioned the time I had to leave the table. my friend arrived 10 minutes late and she insisted in those 10 minutes to ask if he was really coming. Like I said good food but horrible service.
Be the first to ReplyThe biggest complaint I have about PURO is that I didn't
The biggest complaint I have about PURO is that I didn't come hungry - definitely a mistake on my side because everything looked and smelled absolutely incredible! Came here during a quick trip to Boston and was bopping around Newbury Street to various wine/tapas bars. The reviews of PURO were enough to drive us in for "a quick drink" to check it out, and we ended up staying there for much longer than that... and finding room to have more food. The whole ambiance at PURO is just really cute - would make for a great date spot with the amazing artwork displayed at the bar flanked by wine bottles and throughout the entire space. There's a mix of bar seats, high tops, and bench seats/regular dining, so while it's not a huge space, there was decent seating (we came on a Tuesday night though, so it probably wasn't as crowded as it would have been on a weekend or on Thursday when they apparently have $1 oysters!). There are plenty of options for different wines and sangrias, a really solid cocktail list (including mojito flights!), and some various beer options, but most people were ordering cocktails (I'm also kicking myself for not getting our bartender's name because she was absolutely lovely and so attentive/friendly - next time!). I found post-pasta room in my stomach to try the ceviche - I mean how can you not?! The tuna ceviche was delicious and so fresh! I absolutely need to return and just make a meal out of the different tapas options on the menu; everything that was coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled so good. We were also brought out churros which was a really nice surprise; they came out hot and delicious with great sauce options (always need a dip!). All in all, this was a fantastic find - incredible, super vibey ambiance, amazing bartender, and great drinks and food selection in a low-key kind of atmosphere. Cannot wait to be back with a MUCH larger appetite.

Ironically the ceviche wasn't the best (according to my ceviche-loving husband), but the rest of the food was very good. Best dish was the calamari. I really liked the pisto manchego as well. Chicken skewers were juicy, but I wasn't a fan of the cilantro-heavy sauce. Sautéed shrimp was just ok (and served with the ends of white bread??). Service was prompt and friendly.

Absolute gem!! Everything we had was delicious, the whole menu sounded great so we have to come back. The service was quick and the spot wasn't very full on a Monday night after New Years. Nice and warm to get out of the cold. The music was also super good and really finished off the experience. Felt like a piece of Miami in Boston. 10/10!!!

Delish! I was looking for a good ceviche place and found PURO based on yelp reviews. My coworker and I made a reservation. It is dark and moody inside the tiny Newbury street restaurant. We sat at the bar and each tried a different type of ceviche. There were several types of ceviche starring different seafood. I thoroughly enjoyed mine and next time I'm craving a ceviche night, I won't hesitate to come here! The bartender was attentive and kept our wine coming. They were out of coffee and espresso, but I got over it.
Be the first to ReplyThe food is great, have great favor and nice portions.
The service are great, the waitress check in on you a great amount. Definitely call for reservations ahead since it is pretty busy and not able to book it on line.
Be the first to ReplyI ordered a couple of Ceviche appetizers it was good.
I ordered the whole fish as my entre and the flavor was great. There was a lil bit of a wait to be seated but the service was amazing. They made us feel good to be there. Will definitely be returning.

I don't understand why does this terrible place deserves such a high rating. However, believe me, the service is the worse I've ever experienced in my whole life. The reason I keep pushing myself to finish my dinner was for just for my friends. The waiter and waitress there do not understand the primary courtesy. Gum on the table glued on my outwear and the waitress threw attitude at me when I politely asked her to take care of it, the blonde waitress with Eastern European accent is the rudest human being I've ever met in my life. All in all, I still paid 18% tips for supporting the Bostonian business during the pandemic. I hope that your bar can disappear from Newbury street ASAP so that you won't ruin the reputation of our lovely city!
