RED Madison Reviews from The Last Year
Great sushi and service.
Love the ambiance, quality of sushi and price. It is a great date night stop and close to down town entertainment.
Had an amazing meal with top notch service.
I can't wait for my next trip to Madison for another amazing experience.
Great food- awful hostesses and LOUD
The food is amazing! The downfalls: you are charged for a no show but they have no problem making you wait! We had a reservation at 8:00 pm- by the time the hostess saw us it was 8:15. We were then told to go to the 6th floor where we waited for another half hour. I stood next to the upstairs hostess who literally ignored me. At 8:45 I asked when will we be seated and hostess told me she would get a manager!? I complained and she then promptly seated us …. Next to a table of about 25 people- we were screaming to be heard! Between the hostess, the wait and the noise I would never go back - which is a shame as the food is spectacular.
Delicious! Amazing! Ladies servers a bit sleazy attire
Delicious! Amazing! Ladies servers a bit sleazy attire but overall great place for a amazing meal.
I've always enjoyed RED but haven't been here in a couple
I've always enjoyed RED but haven't been here in a couple years. My friend does not like raw fish and yet as her first time here she had a delightful experience with the cooked items offered. The reservation process was simple and by chance we were seated at one of my favorite tables (by chance? Hmmm) Service was brisk in the best possible way - our drinks arrived quickly as did the appetizer we wanted to accompany them. A favorite has always been the vegetarian shiitake tempura roll and was well received by my friend as was the California roll with king crab. As I had my raw fish she had king crab nigiri which was a hit. This was the perfect place to precede a performance by our wonderful symphony orchestra at the Overture Center a few blocks away. My date thought our server was both cute and charming and he was thoroughly professional - we could have not asked for better. Bravo RED

Good Experience
We arrived early for our reservation, our reservation time passed by and 20 minutes later, we asked about our table. They forgot about us. Not a huge deal because we knew the experience would outweigh this oversight. Our server was pleasant and answered all our questions. Can tell she's been there for awhile and was good at her job. The Brussel sprout salad is delicious. Our meal was good, the spicy tuna roll lacked spice. The other rolls we got were good. Overall, it wasn't as good as previous visits, but not enough to keep us from returning. The tables are packed in. If you order a lot and are at a small table, space is a challenge. Red has been one of my favorite restaurants and will remain in my top 5.
Had a great meal here while visiting Madison.
The sushi options are so unique and the flavor combinations worked very well even if they seem odd. We especially enjoyed the sticky Wagyu beef ribs and spicy tuna sticky rice. The Blowin' smoke and masked habanero rolls were delicious too. I would have given 5 stars but they were out of a roll we wanted and the rolls fell apart a bit too easily, making it challenging to pick up with chopsticks. The lychee martini and peanut butter mousse cannoli were very good as well.
Unique sushi in a cool setting
My daughter and I had a great meal here at the recommendation of a friend. The spicy tuna crispy rice and sticky Wagyu beef ribs were delicious. The specialty rolls (blowin’ smoke and masked habanero) were interesting and the flavors were so unique. I had a lychee martini and we shared the peanut butter mousse cannoli for dessert. We enjoyed everything we ordered very much and our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is they were out of a menu item we wanted and some of the sushi rolls fell apart when picked up with chopsticks which made eating them a bit challenging.
Definitely a more upscale restaurant in the Madison area
Definitely a more upscale restaurant in the Madison area but it is clear as to why - gorgeous ambiance, delicious, fresh food, and great service. I trust the fish here the most more than any other place in the Midwest.
THE BEST SUSHI IN TOWN!!! Anything you order off the menu
THE BEST SUSHI IN TOWN!!! Anything you order off the menu is delicious and there is no fishy taste. I visited here with my bestie and we had a great experience. Our server was very attentive and kind. We started the evening off right with a mushroom appetizer. What a treat! The mushrooms were large and seasoned very well (no earthy soil taste). I tired the Tropic Thunder Roll and I was taken back by how well blended the flavors in this roll were. There was not one ingredient that was overpowering. The drinks were as well, my favorite is the lychee martini. Don't be fooled, this is a good strong drink. Great place to take someone on a fancy date or celebrate a special occasion.
Sushi is really good .
Only complaint is it's way overpriced. Service is good, nice drinks and quality of sushi is great .
RED has such a cool Cosmopolitan vibe! I was there with a
RED has such a cool Cosmopolitan vibe! I was there with a group of 6. We were in the 6th Fl, which is much better for 'dining'. The street-level is for smaller groups and is a bit noisier, more like a bar-restaurant scene. Our server, Maya, was so nice and friendly. She knew her way around the menu very well, and made suggestions I did not regret. The service initially may have seemed a bit slow, but I think it was from the bar preparing our drinks. My favorite drink was the Lychee Martini. It was very refreshing. It had a balance of subtle citrus flavors, hints of lemon & grapefruit, but none overpowering. The plates came out in a timely manner. I could go on for pages about each meal, safe to say they were all excellent--you really can't go wrong. To stay my hunger, the waitress recommended the chicken tempura as an app. No strong flavors here, just subtle blends. The Miso soup was also very good. My favorite dishes were the Tsunami and Crispy Rice. The Tsunami just embodied what I wanted 'sushi' to taste like. Again, subtle blends of flavors and textures. The tempura added a nice crunch to it all. The Crispy Rice was just fun to eat. And don't let that little jalapeño intimidate you. It wasn't that hot. If I was feeling more tropical, the Tropic Thunder would have sufficed. My wife loved the scallops, but for the price, I think we should've gotten maybe more than 2 on a plate. Whatever criticism I have is greatly overshadowed by the quality and taste of the food complemented by the up-beat, modern, decor. It was such a pleasure to eat there. A great place to get together with friends and family. Yup....this place is a keeper!
Super Volcano and Tsunami
Great food paired with a Suntory Japanese whiskey old fashioned or two. The flavors of our sushi were well received and worth the price.
Work sushi dinner
Dinner with colleagues. Food was excellent and cocktails great. Definitely would return. Order some rolls and share....
Great fusion sushi
Great fusion sushi restaurant. Good quality fish and great service. A good restaurant for family get togethers or a special date.
Great Sushi in Madison
I was not expecting this to be as good as it was….amazing!! Sushi is very fresh and very nice presentation. The specialty rolls are very good and huge portions. We ate outside on the patio area, very nice atmosphere. Service was spot on, outstanding. Prices are very reasonable for what you are served. I would highly recommend this place and I can’t wait to go back.
Memorable.? Yes..Yes
Showed up unannounced at 8:15 on a Sunday Nite. Welcomed with gracious smiles and delicious food. Young gentleman server was perfect. Complete range of excellent Saki. We stayed thru dessert relaxed and unhurried. As they closed the doors behind us it was a Hollywood Ending to our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Thanx RED.!!

The site doesn't have resources to properly execute a reservation transfer. Some places allow it however the best bet is to open a chat on the listing from the seller and communicate there

Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
