Fantastic experience. An oasis of relaxation
The Jardin de las Delicias is fantastic and certainly the best experience we had during our stay in Bolivia. We were two families with children aged 13 and 4 in a large jeep. The journey from Santa Cruz takes about 2.5 hours. As soon as you leave the city, the road becomes bumpy, with extreme inclines, small streams and rivers and two or three small bridges. The route there is not sufficiently signposted. It is essential to have someone who knows the area with you. At some point you lose your GPS. There is a total dead zone. The nature is breathtakingly beautiful. It is very hot. There are no toilets along the way and no shops, so take drinks, snacks, sandwiches, toilet paper and mosquito spray with you. Once you arrive, you can park on a large meadow. At the entrance there are very clean toilets and even showers. A sweet and calm dog accompanied us. The way there is about another 15 to 20 minutes on foot. Entrance fee for Bolivians is 10, for foreigners 100 Bolivianos. The path is not easy to moderately difficult: large tree roots, broken stairs and extreme inclines down and up again have to be overcome. There is even a sign to motivate us not to give up. When we got to the bottom, a dreamy place was waiting for us: there was a clean beach and the waterfall came out of the rock from a height of about 200 m, extremely large, colorful butterflies greeted us. The trees provided enough shade. The water was clear, clean and had just the right temperature. We felt like we were in paradise. The small child could play in the water, the older child could swim to the waterfall. It was wonderful. We took great photos and relaxed in this oasis. We stayed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. On the way back, we got coffee and homemade empanadas from one of the families at the entrance. Then we drove back to Santa Cruz, happy and impressed.
Be the first to ReplyNot easy to get there.. Very rural areas.. no bathrooms
Is really hard to get there. Takes about 3.5hrs to get there..Poor dirt road conditions once you leave the main road..Locals were not to helpful or friendly..this more like a whole day trip.
