One of the most fun & tastiest restaurants I've had the pleasure dining in. All the dishes, presentation, music, service were thoughtful. Highly recommend a stop here. Perfect for date night or a small group dinner.

My husband enjoyed dining here and promise to return next visit to London.

Bottom Line - This is a fantastic dining experience if you find yourself in London. Online booking is simple, the restaurant staff is very friendly, and the ambiance is smart but very relaxed. The food is absolutely amazing, and the 4 hour meal experience flew by. I would definitely come again!

The care and creativity this team of professionals brings to the table in this jewel-box of a restaurant is a joy to experience as well as to eat!

Wow! We were lucky enough to get a lunch reservation on a Saturday. The restaurant is small, with maybe ten tables, and has a lovely view of the garden outside. The wait staff is wonderful and attentive, and the kitchen is open, so all can observe. Our meal was an eight course tasting menu, although we started with 4 "snacks," one bite tastes. These set up the meal well; as each was unique and an array of tastes and textures. The highlights from our courses for me were the main course of lamb. We were shown our partially cooked rack, and then it was brought out perfectly cooked, accompanied by a smoked aubergine purée, potato galette and sweetbreads. This was followed by the Paddington, a brioche with marmelade (such incredible flavor) on top of grated fois gras. Served beautifully and delicious. Of the two desserts, the almond and dill dessert was awesome. You get to mix it all together and the flavors are wonderful, not to say the rest of the courses weren't delicious as well. The drink pairings were perfect. A combinations of wine and 2 cocktails, they were all perfectly paired with the food. The sommelier was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain each taste in detail. We finished with some extra sweets, all of which were delicious.Between the food, the staff and the setting, this is the perfect place for a special occasion, provided you can get in.

After a recent refurb, the place looks much more elegant now. Friendly service from charming Continental staff. The dishes look like beautiful pieces of art, and show a mastery of complex cooking techniques. When we came here in 2013, we found it great fun. As the surprise effect is no longer present, it's still very good food, but the overall experience is less enchanting than at The Fat Duck or even Dinner by Hester B (prices are also lower!), and the flavours less satisfying than at a premier tapas place. Perhaps that's why it's one Michelin star and not two (or three)!
Be the first to ReplyStory is exactly that - an experience.
Each course is a pleasant surprise and crafted with the care and attention to detail you'd expect from a far more expensive meal. Even the drinks are designed with care and attention to detail, and the wine list brings surprises - the Serbian white was phenomenal. A fantastic and innovative dining experience.

Best tasting menu ever! We had dinner here at 8 and didn't finish until past 11, but I can imagine that it could take up to 4 or 5 hours for dinner here. Wonderful for a special event!
Be the first to ReplySo the story here is you can choose between two menus.
One is 6 courses long and the other is 10. But before you decide you are generously given a series of canapés. First comes the crispy skin cod w/ smoked cod roe emulsion, carrot tops & gin botanicals then there's radishes filled with kelp butter & Malden salt, "Storeos" the twist of savoury-sweet Oreos, squid ink biscuits sandwiching smoked eel mousse and last but not least a polenta crisp w/ bacon jam, malt soil & carrot. Phew! Then the time came to choose which menu! The 10 courses for us please!1st course was a warm homemade bread served in a soft leather pouch bag that comes with a lovely "beef dripping".2nd course was an onion, apple old tom. Not my favourite dish as it was a little too oniony for my liking.3rd course was scallops, cucumber and dill ash. Yum!4th course was my personal favourite: foie gras brûlée with pear, thyme and ginger bread crisp.5th course was a heritage potato, turnip & coal.6th course was a Snow White looking apple, served on ice with billowing smoke appearing from inside and hidden within is beef tartare, apple and Perigord truffle. At the bottom there is a mind blowing truffle sauce that makes my heart ache now thinking of how good it was!7th course was cod with English caviar.8th course was beef with grains and watercress sloes.9th course was a little masterpiece simply called almond & dill, which was a scoop of almond ice cream, almond snow and fresh dill snow.10th and final course was an English pear, artichoke and lemon combo. Was a bit strange but still worth the try!To top of our meal we were given milk bottles with rhubarb in the bottom..heaven! The end.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely incredible food.
Probably one of the best dinners I've ever had in my life. So many unique courses. Loved every single one. The service and our sommelier were top notch. Worth the price. Highly recommended!

Great service, unusual but delicious food and a highly unusual "wine" flight. Won't give away any secrets but give this place a try, it's just a little bit different. Lunch (tasting menu) took us hours and the place is tiny so you must book ahead. Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy the experience.

A lot of food with the courses - the only real negative about the food is the beef tallow candle is an attractive and interesting visual presentation but the drippings need a lot of salt to make the dish taste worthy. Otherwise, its soupy and blah. The wine steward/drinks gent was terrific in his descriptions (we had the wine pairing). However, the various waiters gave varying descriptions of the dish. Some were hard to understand due to their accent and being - for some strange reason - rushed. Others were good in explaining the small course. The meal takes three hours so set the time aside. An interesting dinner but I don't think we would return - nothing wowed us and the lackluster descriptions of a course from the floor staff left us saying more than once "huh?"
