I was surprised with the taste and price, their thin pizza
I was surprised with the taste and price, their thin pizza is gorgeous! It's one of the best margaritas in Brooklyn! Additionally I'd like to mention their baked beef and turkey! It's the healthy way to eat fast food.
Be the first to ReplyRacism at Roll-n-Rooster So sad!!! The way we were treated.
My friend and I were at the counter ready to give our order. Of course we didn't look like her. Blonde hair and glasses. She called another customer on the other side of the room to take their order as if we weren't standing directly in front of her. She's disrespectful. Food and ambiance was the usual. Very disappointing! Won't be back!

..that maybe should be mothballed. Was looking forward to trying their famous roast beef sandwich but it was quite disappointing--not very big or especially interesting. Everything was on the small side and forgettable. I can see how it would be fun for a crew of teenagers--or if, for some reason, you want a bottle of Moet with your fast food, but otherwise....

this is a staple old school establishment with years and years of history. a must visit for any one going into the sheepshead bay area in brooklyn.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service, great food, & plenty of seating.
Roll n roaster is a cheesy and delicious fast food style restaurant. My personal favorites is the cheeseburger, chicken fingers, corn fritters, & fresh brewed iced tea. If you spend a certain amount of money (I don't remember how much), you get a free pizza!!! This place is very big inside as well so there is plenty of seating for people. There is a parking lot as well and street parking. If you love fast food and obviously cheese I definitely recommend this place. Roll n roaster is known for their roast beef and cheese sandwich, but I don't like roast beef, but my friends say it's amazing!!! Also, for your birthday the staff allows you to spin a wheel to win a prize!!! If you're in Brooklyn, it'll be worth it to stop at roll n roaster!
Be the first to ReplyWow is this the very coolest place to stumble upon.
I've lived in Brooklyn for years and never heard of this place til I went to get my taxes done. The beef sandwich was stellar, as were the fries. The whole place was a wonderful stroll down memory lane; the entire place has not been updated since they opened (except to make necessary adjustments, etc). Service was friendly and quick. Very clean and organized dining room. Did I mention the food was exceptional? YUM!! Just the right thing needed after a stressful few hours at the accounting office. This place is an institution

First timer though I have known about Roll-N-Roaster for years. I spontaneously decided to check out Roll-N-Roaster tonight (March 16) and have no regrets. I came for one menu item and one menu item only -- the corn fritters. Based on the photos, the corn fritters looked identical to the corn fritters I remembered eating as a kid at Goodness Steak Restaurant on the Junction. And one bite tonight filled me with so much nostalgia. The corn fritters oozed with cream corn and it's so, so good. The four star rating is solely for the corn fritters I also ordered fries, which weren't anything special and needed salt. I'd skip and that says a lot because I LOVE fries. The onion rings are nicely crisped and would substitute the fries with this. Nothing fancy and very much feels like you've walked into a time machine but that gives RnR its charm. Prices are reasonable and there is plenty of seating. There is a small parking lot that has a one hour time limit.

Great food, great service, but pricey small parking lot highly recommend the milkshakes and chicken wings
Be the first to ReplyI go to this place for corn fritters and chicken wings.
Love, love and love! Service? Sometimes good but most of the times, I feel rushed and the cashiers are so rude. Ambiance? Just ok, could be better.

Be the first to ReplyI only come here for their AMAZING CORN FRITTERS.
Theres nothing more tasteful than these corn fritters than Roll-N-RoasterAnd just a note- i do like this place and all the memories ive shared with friends thru out the years,'however Were already living in 2023. PlzUpgrade the business. From the ourside and messy menu, the waiting ordering process, the whole outside look reminds me of the diner that went out of business on sheepshead. As times change, notice the changes in business. Something that will catch attention, lights that still have color them. Just over well, businesses to stay in the competition. The good is not always enough. Especially tourists in sumner.. u need something extra to attract the customers in.And maybe add one of those yummyMink chocolates at end of the meal- real nice yummy minty touch ;) :)Just freshen up the look, have some reopening lights, balloons, new menus, sales,' specials, maybe even some new uniforms.I say this all out of a love. This has become a very important part emmons. Dont let it go. Invest some money and watch it blossom even more then ever!!
Be the first to ReplyOh I love, roll and roaster.
I even went to the 50th anniversary and got a T-shirt. The food is really good. Personally I like the sandwiches and fries. I really like the restaurant on the inside. It's very big and aesthetically pleasing. I don't go out there very often because it's not close to my house but anytime I pass by the area I always have to stop in.
Be the first to ReplyThis is as old school as you get in Brooklyn.
Very plain Jane indoor ambiance with tables and booths. Simple comfort food. Free parking in a tiny lot. Right by the water in case you want to do takeout and chill by Manhattan Beach. If you bike here, they'll give you a free water bottle. I highly recommend the roast beef sandwich cooked to medium temperature. If you dig it, ask for hot honey on the side and free cooked onions on the sandwich. Free parking on the street, too, but can be a bit difficult to find. Prices are inexpensive. Truly a Brooklyn institution. You can order online if you'd like. The staff is very quick, friendly and it's easy to order. No table service. They've got champagne if you want to fancy it up.

Some of my questions remain unanswered: how popular is the $59.95 Moet champagne and why are chicken tenders the top listed item on Yelp? But I can confirm that the surprisingly high-ranked apple pie is legit. I enjoyed the classic orangeade. Curious about the pork sandwich, not sure if it's temporary or forever.
Be the first to ReplyWas a regular customer since the 70's .
.. Haven't been here since Covid ..The French fries are not same miss the cottage fries ... the burgers and the chicken sandwiches are still good as were the onion rings... disappointed with corn fritters which used to be served with honey ... the orange-ade is still good and the prices are still reasonable
Be the first to ReplyOnce upon a time, being from New York City meant something
Once upon a time, being from New York City meant something and "Brooklyn" was more than just a marketing term to attract high earning, low style out-of-town folk. Roll-N-Roaster is a time capsule back to a Brooklyn before artisanal this and crรจme fraรฎche that, back to when it was a place, a community, and where hard knuckles on working class hands could afford a quality meal in their own neighborhood and not be treated as an outsider.Roll-N-Roaster is one of my happiest places in one of my happiest corners of the world tucked away in South Brooklyn. The food, though simple, is excellent, the service is stellar, and the place has what the kids these days call "a vibe".There's lot to choose from, but considering the establishment's name I opt for a beef and cheese on a roll and am always surprised at how amazingly gratifying something so simple can be when it is done perfectly. The roast beef here is what roast beef should be: tender, juicy, flavorful and doused in gravy...it's heaven in thinly sliced meat form. The house wedges are perfectly crisped and not too greasy and dipped in any of their house sauces (which are SO good on their own), you have the makings of a perfect meal...especially washed down with one of their house orangeades.Brooklyn: as it was and as I wish it would always be...that's Roll-N-Roaster to me...a fond and nostalgic trip down memory lane to a place and time so much better and authentic than the superficially crass now.

I need to go back because I've heard they changed some products and it's not as good, but this is based on my memories. I have been here more times than I can recall and it was one of the places I truly associate with my childhood. The Roast Beef sandwiches, cheese fries, burgers, etc. are etched in my mind forever. I truly hope they haven't "fallen back" like I've heard...that would really be sad.

food always fresh, sometimes you have to wait a bit for your order just remember stand back let them call your number and pay attention when they do cause sometimes, they look annoyed after calling your number a few times lol but the food great...

They have been a staple in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn for over 52 years. It's clean, good prices, there is no wait service although the counter people are always friendly and efficient. There good for groups, they emphasis on cleaning. The food is "ok" not what it use to be. Usually eat very healthy and decided to make an exception because I was looking for a quick dinner. I had the roast beef sandwich and sweet potato fries. The fries were the best part.I would say they are good for a quick, inexpensive meal where you know the food will be safe to eat. They really need to step it up to compete with all the places popping up in Sheepshead bay.
Be the first to ReplyA good old neighborhood spot that never changes.
And that's a good thing. They are consistent and always deliver deliciousness. My favorite go-to is the orangeade, mashed potatoes in gravy, chicken wings, and cheese fries. Come on your birthday to spin the wheel. Lots of seating, they've never been so busy you can't find a seat. It can be good for large groups. They have a parking lot that's kind of small, but street parking is available all around too. The bathroom is kind of tiny, but the food is quick and delicious. Maybe skip the trip to the bathroom here.

Been coming here since i was a child in the 70's and I think I've never had a bad meal lol! The staff is just as friendly as they were when I was a kid and the food is just as fresh and delicious! I know some people compare this place to Brennan & Carr but it's a different animal .....I mean it's all roast beef lmao, not a different animal in that sense, just a different atmosphere. Can't go wrong with either!

Been going there for years but was very disappointed on my visit there last week. Roast Beef sandwiches were still good but they changed their French fries and the were terrible. Used to be round crinkle fries. They were good. Now they have these thin fries rinds me of a potato chip and the chard $4.95 fur a small portion.
Be the first to ReplyI have been going out of my way to go to Roll N' Roaster
I have been going out of my way to go to Roll N' Roaster and to bring other people there, pretty much since the place opened, when I was a teenager. I still find my way there fairly regularly and I might actually go, today, since I'm thinking about it. I have two minor criticisms that I hope the owners will read and take to heart. The cheez is like no other, especially since Jahn's no longer exists, but it seems to have gotten more mild, through the years. Assuming my taste buds haven't aged and have not been jaded, I'm guessing they're using a slightly different recipe, or putting in a bit more water than before. I would go back to the original formula, note for note, grain for grain. It's very good the way it is but it was uniquely spectacular, once upon a dream. The other thing is your vanilla ice cream. I'm not sure if you're making your own or using a brand but its uncharacteristically bland and without much taste. I was really looking forward to my apple pie a la mode. The pie was quite good and rich but the ice cream added nothing except wasted calories. There are many good, rich and flavorful vanilla ice creams out there, and there are things you can add to your recipe, if you're creating your own. That's it. I'll probably be in later today.
Be the first to ReplyCheap food, prepared fast but will satisfy you.
Not gourmet by any means but it doesn't need to be, the roast beef sandwich slaps hard.
