Nice and flavorful dishes
Expect long q during lunch time. Parking space is also limited around the shop. Cannot find a seat around 12pm+, so order take away - 1 curry chicken drumstick + 3 vegetables. All items are vey flavorful and feel very full afterwards where portion is just nice. Price is S$10.50, quite expensive though.

Back here for lunch and the rendang was very good, as was the lemak chicken. Bergedils were okay, while, the brinjal was soft buT a little bland, despite the chilli. Overall, the taste is nice and prices are reasonable, but their dishes seem spicier Than most.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful variety but just not piping hot
Heard so much about their delicious food, finally went to Tampines Hub branch at 10.45am for an early lunch. Ordered the fried drumstick which was nicely coated with turmeric coconut flakes, a tasty bergedil also well spiced and the terong which was of a good texture though the red chilli on top didn't taste that fresh.
The disappointment was that the food wasn't piping hot, just lukewarm. Perhaps they could use a microwave to heat it up since it must have taken some time to prepare so many dishes.
Service was courteous, they cleared my plate for me as I didn't see any rack for return trays.
$7.50 was reasonable enough for quite a large serving.
I dined at their Tampines branch
Fairly good service. I ordered my food at 1.45pm and almost all my dishes were only slightly warm. The cuttlefish was over cooked. Tahu Telor was too sweet in the centre. The fried chicken in sweet spicy sauce was over fried and hard. The batang fish in yellow curry sauce was ordinary. The curry chicken was tender and fragrant. The spicy kang kong and potato patty were yummy. Their belachan chilli was fragrant and yummy. The ondeh ondeh was QQ and quite yummy. The lemak green bean soup was quite yummy but was almost room temperature. It was a pity that Assam Fish was sold out because I would love to try that. I will visit their other branch at Bugis area next time and be there earlier to catch the Assam Fish and try their food at higher temperature.

We arrived at noon to find a very long queue snaking in front of the restaurant. Undaunted, we got into line. After half an hour, we could place our orders. We chose to be seated in the air conditioned upstairs dining room. We tried a variety of dishes, none of which was outstanding. The chicken and squid was tough, the jack fruit vegetable curry was overly salty, the rendang was super chilli hot. The green curry was decent. Service was poor and slow, cutlery hardly sufficient for their customers. The level 2 dining area was incredibly loud and noisy, impossible to sit comfortably to chat. Little reason to return.

Take away and plated at home. Awesome taste and food by this establishment. Not once was disappointing by their service or food. Keep it up people. Thank you for serving fantastic cuisine.

My wife, a Medanese likes good quality Padang food very much and we visit this restaurant often.
We like the chicken with coconut floss, rendang and fried potato, sambal petai and ah Jae. We also order the tahu with black sauce if not sold out.
Drink will be hot tea or coffee and some Bandung (pink colour with milk drink) if available.
Next time you are near North Bridge Road go try eat here (air con upstairs). You can park at a public car park nearby.
Good food, great location
This is a great place for breakfast, thereโs a large assortment of dishes to choose from. The place is generally quiet on weekday mornings. Sit upstairs for an air-conditioned meal, but downstairs to experience the bustle of the area, especially on weekends.

Whenever Im n the neighbourhood at lunchtime, I can never resist having a meal at Minang . They can be a bit pricey if you select the " wrong" items but if one sticks to the veges and just order one fish or meat , it's still reasonably priced,
I miss some of the dishes they use to prepare like kacang botol salad, but I guess I hve to go elsewhere for that ! Their sambal tumis is yummy and is a great accomapaniment with rice . The outdoor dining area is pleasant when its off peak . best to go early before regular meal times or it gets very crowded .. On a hot day its nice to be able to eat in the aircon area upstairs,
Gone are the good old days!
I used to be a regular here 20 years ago in 2000. The food was aromatic and delicious and you can't help but get addicted.
Filled with the same anticipation and enthusiasm, I just tried this yesterday and it was a complete let-down.
The so called signature beef rendang was just salty and lacking the aromatic spices of the past. Also, meat texture was pretty tough. Perhaps my expectations were too high after reading a news article about the beef rendang.
The sambal sotong was another huge disappointment. Totally lacking in flavour, it was just sweet tasting which is not what I expect of a sambal dish.
The fried fish was acceptable but again, the flavour of the chilli on top could be improved. The prawns were salty and lacking in flavour too. Thank God for the lime juice which still retains its taste of the past.
The cashier's attitude was also unfriendly. After paying, I decided to add-on a lime juice and he was clearly impatient and irritated.
Overall, the restaurant decor is nicer but the food and service needs to be greatly improved. Hopefully, they can bring back the taste of the past.
Would not be back again.
Tasty, spicy, value for money Indonesian food
We stopped by for lunch after visiting the Sultan Mosque on a hot, steamy afternoon.
The open dining area was packed, with a queue formed upto the ordering/cashier station.
So the air conditioned dining hall (via the side staircase leading up) brought a much welcomed respite from the afternoon heat and humidity.
The food that followed within 15 minutes of ordering was typical Padang fare and was plentiful, tasty and spicy.
We had beef, 2 chicken dishes, fish, 3 vegetable dishes and sweets for less than S$12- p/person.
The food was delicious and plentiful.
Recommended.
