Rusty Pelican - Miami Key Biscayne Reviews from The Last Year
Absolute perfect place to bring out of town friends.
You can't beat the views and the food didn't disappoint AT ALL. Thomas was our server and he was very knowledgeable, personable, and attentive. I brought friends here as a first time for all of us and i couldn't have had a better experience. All of the food was excellent, Snapper was super flavorful. Will definitely be coming back for brunch as well.

The food was amazing! Service was outstanding! It was a raining night but you could tell the view would have been amazing if it wasn't for the hurricane winds and rain.
For a full taste of the Miami crowd, this please will do it.
Somewhat of a local institution and i never had been before. Two tiered valet. Reception/host staff are very young and take themselves too seriously. Beautiful location. Good menu. Waitress was excellent. Food didn't live up to menu, though the presentation was nice. No rush to return, though i'd probably choose a week day if i did.

I got the snapper and it was soo tasty! My party got the scallops, sea bass, and arroz for too and everything was delicious! Service was great and gave very good recs and described the food well. We sat outside and watched the sunset with great views. It was a little windy so it did get cold but was soo worth it to sit outside. The meal did feel a little rushed but food and presentation was worth it.
Another fine restaurant in Miami.
We visit here on every visit to Miami. Tonight was very nice, with great service and food. We arrived at 6:20 for our 6:30 reservations. We were seated pretty quickly. Most tables inside were open when we arrived. Outside was busier. Our waiter Roberto offered to speak to us in 3 languages and his english was very good. Her did a great job all night. We started with the Calamari appetizer Tempura peppers and onions, citrus buffalo aioli. This was cooked perfectly and very tasty. Next, she ordered the Chilean sea bass with Smoked Sweet Plantain Mash, Grilled Anaheim Pepper, Mango, and Papaya Salsa. The dish was very tasty and she could not finish the sweet plantains as it was too much food but tasty. I ordered the 8oz Bass Strait Filet Mignon with a side of rusty fries Parmesan, Rosemary, and Parsley. The medium rare steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The view in this place is awesome at sunset, with boats coming in and out, which makes this great view. We saved room for dessert key lime pie that the presentation said it all. It was very tasty and filling. We had a great evening and will return next time we are in town.

It had been years since I had eaten at Rusty Pelican and we had a wonderful time! The snapper was fantastic and was enough to share with someone else. The key lime pie was great to end the meal. Our server LaLa was amazing and catered to all of our needs. Thank you! We'll be back soon!
Sunday Brunch

The food was good but overpriced. The service was great!
Loved the Rusty Pelican!
What a spot for dinner (or any meal!) in Miami! And the food was fabulous. I got the burrata salad (yum!) and my daughter and husband had the calamari and said it was the best they ever had! The steak was great as were the 50/50 potatoes ( which are a la carte but worth it! Otherwise you just have steak alone. We ate outside , on the water , it was a fabulous evening!
Poor
Overrated from any angle. Location is great, looking at the Miami sky line, but that is literally all that is good. Difficult parking, needed valet at 10$ because of an event. Staff below average, everything took forever although it was not busy in the restaurant. Asked for a table in the shade, not possible, though a number of guests that arrived after us, got one, or got a table with umbrella. Food below average too. My advise, go somewhere else.
Amazing view, amazing food! One of a kind and a great
Amazing view, amazing food! One of a kind and a great choice for any special occasion! Highly recommend.
JULIAN R is a phenomenal server, he was FANTASTIC.
He helped me plan to propose to my girlfriend of 7 years and made it amazing for the both of us. I would HIGHLY suggest him for future special events.
So I went to the Rusty Pelican Miami for my birthday brunch.
I arrived with such a pleasant staff waiting for me. The ambiance was very nice and upscale with a beach vibe. They didn't have popular music but they do have indoor and outdoor seating. We decided to sit outside and it was hot lol. They did have a shade to cover our table but it wasn't enough. The waiter we had was super nice and attentive. She kept the unlimited mimosas coming and the food was spectacularly delicious. I ordered the steak and potatoes with eggs. The potatoes could've used more seasoning but it was still good. I really liked my experience and will definitely return. Maybe I'll try their dinner next time.
We always have good food and the views are amazing.
It is worth going with out of town guests.

We've been living in Miami since 2005 and have never been
We've been living in Miami since 2005 and have never been here. So last Sunday afternoon, on a whim, we popped in to see if we could grab brunch. Surprisingly, although the place was pretty packed, we were seated within minutes. Even seated along a back wall of the restaurant, we had a great view of the water. The menu was so diverse, we had a hard time narrowing down what to get. I started with a Dragonfruit Mimosa, a nice alternative to the typical one. My husband had the skirt steak and eggs for his meal, which was perfectly cooked. I had the French Toast, which was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. It might've been the best french toast I've ever had. Bourbon soaked baked apples, blueberries and strawberries, topped with dots of toasted marshmallow and a little Nutella. I think the only "negative" was the club style music which seemed out of sync with the crowd and the vibe of a relaxing Sunday brunch overlooking the water. But it wasn't enough to keep us from returning to try more of those delicious sounding options.
We loved Rusty Pelican.
Our food and drinks were amazing and our server Justin was helpful and attentive!

Came here for my birthday dinner & enjoyed the lovely view, food & excellent customer service. Justin was a pleasure to have serve us and gave us wonderful recommendations!
I would highly recommend the rusty pelican.
Great place to take out of towners to impress them with the great view and food. Cynthia was our waitress and she went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied with our food and drinks. Additionally, she was very cautious of my brother's severe peanut allergy which we always love! Will be coming back.
Meh
Our waitress, Lala, was the only truly enjoyable part of our evening. The view would have been great had the window been clean. It was was very, very loud, and we had to shout to hear each other. The food was not hot and had to be sent back, twice, and even then was still not much warmer. Unfortunate attempt at a “Miami vibe”. Could be a great place. Will not be back.
Disappointing return.
After superb first visit a few years ago we were looking forward to our visit this week but unfortunately we left disappointed. The views and staff service were still great, but the food wasn't. Starters were OK but the main courses were really poor, one tasted terrible and the the scallops in the other were badly overcooked - the table next to us had the same issue and also left one of their main courses uneaten, so it wasn't just us. With the high prices being charged for very average food the value is poor. We are so sorry to be leaving this bad review but it's an honest one.
BREATHTAKING LOCATION
Magnificent location, very nice restaurant, excellent food, elegant and refined atmosphere, truly attentive and knowledgeable staff. The view is spectacular
Disappointed
This place was a great place to get quality food. The food last night was average at its best. We went with a group of ten people of different ages. Our waitress was spread thin and the poor woman had too many tables to tend. Several people complained their drinks came without alcohol. The place had become a tourist only destination.
A Miami standard that has maybe gotten too big for its britches
"I'm so sorry to have bothered you." That's what I wanted to say to the valet, the hostess, and the waitress. My kind wife reminded me to be polite and to go high, so I smiled and said, "Thank You" way too often in return for the snarky disregard we got. 1) Valet: "Do you want to be parked in the premier lot or the back lot (costs less)?" "Regular lot is fine, if self-park isn't available." "It's not." "Okay - regular. Thanks." 2) Walking up to the hostess: "Hi, we have a reservation for supper - we're 20 minutes early - can we wait in the bar?" "Your table isn't ready." [*It was 4:40pm on a Saturday. The bar seats were full - no other options. We waited, awkwardly, in the front lobby - no welcome, no accommodation, no apology or hurry, no "Can we bring you a drink while you wait?". One would have thought we were interrupting or not dressed right or something. Flat disregard and complete disinterest from the front desk. 3) Waitress: She was the nicest by far, but we had to flag her down 2-3 times mid-meal when we were clearly ready for fresh drinks, the plates were clearly done, it was time for dessert offers. Really felt like we were bothering everybody. SIX expensive drinks, two pricey main courses, one 'okay' dessert: $250. A smile would have been nice. Or, "thanks so much for coming in." Or even, "Gosh, we're under-staffed / extra-busy, thanks so much for your patience." - Again, waitress was the nicest of the bunch. She had several tables. Finally got out of there. Valet charge for the regular lot = $9(!). I've eaten here since the mid-1970's when I was a kid -- had my 9th birthday celebration there - great memories. Why the attitude now? The view of Biscayne Bay is truly amazing, the food is impressive-looking and okay-tasting. I just wanted to apologize for bothering them. The place is a cool Miami standard, but I won't be racing back to bother them any time soon.
down at heel
Book to celebrate my dear friend's 60th birthday. The right online process. We arrived and no one gave us a reason, they didn't attend to us, they left us sitting at the reception. The place is beautiful for the view, it is quite large and a little bustling and overcrowded. It was full of very casually dressed staff behaving as if they were in a bar and not an upscale restaurant. I had not been, I had references from many years ago of it being a restaurant with an elegant long tablecloth and I found a restaurant with tourists in shorts and flip flops. What a disappointment. The service, very limited on the menu, we ordered the seafood tower and everything was frozen, nothing fresh. The burrata was barely ok, the best was the Ribeye steak and the roasted street with and the empanadas. The drinks ok. They offered us to sing happy birthday or bring dessert with a weather vane and it never happened. I don't recommend it, go have a drink for the view, period.
A must do stop!
Fantastic views of Biscayne Bay, Miami, and Miami Beach. So much fun watching the yachts go by. We had crab cake appetizers, very light and tasty, Ceaser salad and the fried chicken on a waffle, which was fantastic.
Great view but kitchen needs improvement.
The view of Miami from the restaurant’s terrace is beautiful on a cloudless sunny February afternoon. The cocktails are delicious but overpriced (double). Bottomless mimosas to El Mariachi cocktail made with Mezcal and other ingredients. Really good. My son’s mini burgers tasted good, but the fries were not hot. The grilled octopus also was good with potatoes, pesto and octopus ink. The main dish for two people was a board of salad, one lobster tail, steak, 2 pieces fried chicken, 2 poached eggs, 2 waffles, 2 watermelon wedges. The lobster tail was a bit rubbery, the steak not as tender as expected, the eggs were good as well as ¼ fried chicken. The server was good but service is slow going. Luckily the atmosphere compensated for the delayed kitchen. It was at least a 2 hours dining experience.
Great food and view.
Service by Marcell was exceptional. Courteous, helpful and attentive. Food choices were extensive and from appetizers throughout the meal , all were beautifully presented and delicious. Wine and drinks were another delight, view of Biscayne Bay was peaceful and as the sun was setting the Miami skyline lit up! Gorgeous. We were not rushed. Would definitely return.
