There are meals that you start to sense the moment you walk in the door. They have all the hallmarks of a great meal, but the experience begins before the first plate, before you've fully absorbed the menu. That's Ciasa Mia. I've been absolutely paralyzed into indecision when eating in Paris, comparing review site after review site, and we were lucky enough to stumble onto Ciasa Mia by chance on TheFork.com [that's right, online reservations, same night - how?!]. A quick cross check showed them a TripAdvisor & Yelp favorite, and before I could look anymore, we committed. So amazingly lucky that we did. The tasting menu for 4 courses is 41 euros - our menu offered: Appetizer: Smoked Salmon [3 ways] with a horseradish cream, brioche soaked in oil with rosemary onions Plate 1: Bread Pasta [think Italian Matzo] with cuttlefish, smoked duck, in a kidney bean ragu. Plate 2: Caramelized scallops aromatized with pine, presented with oyster mushrooms, artichoke, polenta and truffle salt-infused baked potato Dessert: well, the pre-dessert was a poppy seed pull apart bread with vanilla sauce and dessert was an Austrian sugar bread with grape puree and vanilla ice cream In between each course was 1-2 other dishes and small bites. There was nothing - not a single item - on this menu that was not perfected by the chef and served exceptionally well by the staff. The textures, combinations and flavors were unique and stunning, and without hesitation I would recommend this restaurant, with the wood beams on the ceiling, soft candle light, dried flowers and compelling wine list, to everyone looking for that "great" Paris meal. The dining room was small and cozy, and YES there were French people there [that seems to be the big ask on the boards]. Ciasa Mia is a rare find that borders on perfection, and will likely only become more perfect in my mind as I relive that meal.
