I've walked past this bar for the better part of a year and I've always been curious about it, but never had time to stop in. Last night I bit the bullet and visited.Part of the reason it caught my interest is because of the exposed brick and wood distressed aesthetic. The menu ties in with that vision, with paper and clipboard menus. The food options aren't anything to write home about, and are pretty standard bar fare nowadays - Brussels, wings, fries, etc. I was pretty hungry, and feeling bold, so I ordered the fisherman's stew. The dish is a tomato based stew with mussels, scallops, shrimp, and a whitefish, and mixed veggies, served with a hard bread. It wasn't bad, but it was a lot more bland than I'd have preferred. The bartender asked if I wanted hot sauce, and I strongly suggest anyone ordering this take her up on that offer. The drink menu is decent, and they have an interesting coffee stout that I really enjoyed. I may have to come back here. But I don't think it would be a destination when I'm in the area the way some other bars in the Mass Ave area are. Honestly that's a shame because the space is so nice and so large, I would love to use it for an event at some point.
