S.K.Y. Chicago Reviews from The Last Year
Higher end cuisine than I'd expected in Pilsen.
You've got to admit, the neighborhood is changing, and hip restaurants are not rare there these days. We had good service, excellent wine available, and we made some really great choices. Nearly everything we ordered was excellent in our group of five. Glad we did the shared plates approach. The cornbread madeleines were so delicious, we ordered some to take home for coffee time the next morning. Another highlight was a mushroom dish. All of the vegetables focused selections were excellent. Our beef and fish choices were fine, but not as impressive. I wasn't a fan of the truffle oil dessert, but honestly it reminded me that my palate isn't as sophisticated as some others' are. What I expected was different than what we received. I tried it anyway, and it was too much umami and charred/burnt flavors. It tasted like it looked, so I know it was me, not the kitchen. We'd ordered several other desserts, and I loved all the others. I was more disappointed in myself that I didn't like it. Good decor, fits in well with the intended vibe. We found it somewhat noisy; perhaps if the (cool) music was turned down by half, it would be more conducive to friendly conversation. Lighting was a bit dim but not bad. Definitely have been recommending S.K.Y. They are inventive and enthusiastic. There's some room for improvement but I believe it will be truly great.
Dropped by S.
K.Y. for dessert and had a magical experience. We got two desserts to share, the banana budino and the old fashion cruller. I had a wow moment when each of these dishes came out - the banana budino was creamy and contrasted nicely with the sweet and salty crunchy granola. The cruller sat on top of a beautiful rippled creme anglaise - I loved the creatively that went into this dessert. I would come back to S.K.Y. just for the dessert- the pastry chef/team here knows what they're doing!! Finally, the service here was fantastic and the wait staff were all friendly, attentive, and great at describing the various options off the main menu and dessert menu. Twas a lovely spontaneous drop-in, and I'll be dreaming of budino tonight.
All the food here was all super interesting, and worked
All the food here was all super interesting, and worked really well. So many types of fusion food that I'd never seen anywhere else that they managed to make absolutely delicious, like lobster dumplings, and duck confit served with small scallion pancake crepes (suggested to eat by making little tacos out of the duck meat in the crepes). Dessert was also incredible, with this fruity pineapple and lychee flavored cheesecake brûlée. Everything tasted amazing, and was totally worth even the price being more on the steeper end. Staff was super friendly, with great recommendations and made us feel super welcome! The restaurant has a really cool ambience, and is highly recommend this place!
My first Michelin Experience was at SKY and I was blown
My first Michelin Experience was at SKY and I was blown away. The service and thoughtfulness of the chef did not go unnoticed . The ambiance is just as great as the food and the presentation of the food is chefs kiss ! I wouldn't change a thing about my experience . The only trouble I had was finding the building initially .
This restaurant was so much fun.
The food was delicious and each had distinct flavors. Peter our waiter was very good. He helped us make great choices. There were 5 of us and yummy is the only thing I can say..we had cornbread Madeline's, marinated cucumbers, Hamachi Sashimi, Maine Lobster Dumplings, Warm Mushroom salad (one of my favorites), Pork Belly Noodles, SKY fried chicken, Mediterranean Seabass, Foie Gras Bibimbap (also favorite), Beef Short Ribs Kaarage.we ordered all of the desserts. Great night. Less than $100 per person with two bottles of wine. Try this place out.
I must say visiting here gave a wonderful experience.
Food was awesome, with good service provider , and ambiance completely changed my mind.
Had dinner at sky a few weeks ago.
The food was fantastic and we loved the ambiance. Service was bit aloof but they were generally friendly and helpful once you flagged them down. They have great mixed drinks and a nice wine list. Definitely a cool spot to check out with friends, will be back!
What a wonderful evening! Called for a last minute
What a wonderful evening! Called for a last minute reservation and was told that only lounge seating was available but they'd put me on the list if anything in the main dining room opened up. We ended up enjoying our meal at the chefs table and had a wonderful experience. Our server was very nice, and allowed us to do one tasting menu plus à la carte items. Some menu highlights we loved: - the mushroom salad was delicious and would highly recommend - the lamb chop on the tasting menu had an amazing flavor, would love to see that on the regular menu - banana bundio was out of this world, think banana cream pie meets a fantastic granola Items I wouldn't get again: - hamachi sashimi, it was really tasty but the portion was not worth it in my opinion Can't wait to go again!
The waitress and staff were simply amazing.
They were very attentive and made the experience even more enjoyable. We enjoyed a couple of appetizers and the chef's special for $68. The only downside would be that many of the dishes that were presented were served in this vinaigrette which made them not as enjoyable. The cornbread, cucumbers, lamb, and octopus were great.
The food looked sooo pretty but it unfortunately wasn't
The food looked sooo pretty but it unfortunately wasn't seasoned at all. We had high hopes because of really great reviews. We are hoping our experience was just a one off. The pork chop was a bit undercooked. We know pork shouldn't be well done but the manager came to us awkwardly and told us she felt like it was cooked like it was supposed to be. We didn't even mention anything until the waitress said it looked under cooked (and it was). So we thought it was pretty unprofessional of the manager to make sure she came and told us it was cooked as expected (it was undercooked for sure). But again we weren't going to say anything until the waitress mentioned it. The drinks were really good though!

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
