Soba Totto New York Reviews from The Last Year
The food was good and the service was good also.
Waiters were available to refill water when needed which I liked. I feel as if the lunch sets were kind of small in size. The taste was good, I just wish the portions were bigger.
Nice tempura soba lunch.
.. Beautiful sake bar. Glad this sake bar isn't closer to my home otherwise I'd become a fat alcoholic!
I ordered a cold soba and Katsudon combination.
Katudon was tender but a bit dry. The egg was soft and about the right time to serve. I did like the taste with dashi based. But I gave it three stars mainly for the Soba dipping sauce. The soba tsuyu (sauce) I usually expect with a good Dashi (broth). But this Tsuyu was very soy sauce based and black strong salty taste. No Mirin? I even didn't think about ordering a sobayu (boiled water with soba) to drink it up after eating Soba. The soba itself, I wasn't happy much and too chewy like a spider string like extention. I don't recommend here.

I wanted to come back and love it here!!! But after a couple years I think the quality has changed, and my rating would be closer to a 3.5 stars than 4. I came on a Tuesday night around 8:45 with a reservation for a party of 2, though I don't think I actually needed one. I got the tempura soba, which after trying a couple other places in NYC, this is no longer my fave. Service was extremely great and the hostess was beyond kind, but it kind of bothered me that my soba noodles weren't even pulled apart and left in chunks. I get that it's the end of the day and staff is probably tired, but this wasn't exactly the cheapest place to eat.

Had a great experience, although wish there was a cold soba with cold soup. Not sure if the soba was very authentic, but the tempura and sushi are good. The meat in the skewers and in our soba was over cooked. But the service was very good and efficient

This used to be one of my go-to spots before the pandemic, but then it closed and seemingly reopened the next day. It has the same name, but everything else seems different. The salad dressing is not traditionally Japanese and the tempura is greasy (more brown and heavy than yellow and light). I think the new owners may be Chinese - nothing wrong with that, of course, but it doesn't taste authentic Japanese anymore. Sakagura next door is a better option.
we got takeout.
had high expectations, but was pretty mediocre. appetizers (eggplant) were good, but soba was nothing mindblowing. Maybe better to eat at the restaurant, which was fairly empty on a saturday evening.
A small, cozy restaurant in midtown.
We both had the shrimp tempura Soba and it was perfectly portioned for its price. The tempuras were great, and the soba was delicious. Servers were friendly, patient and attentive. Greeter at the door was friendly too. Nothing bad to complain about this place- we enjoyed our dinner here!

I've visited several soba spots in NY, but this one stood out for its variety of soba options. I'm a fan of lunch set meals, and they offered them here, which was a plus. The service was prompt, and the waitress was attentive, ensuring I had water and refilling it promptly. The ambiance was pleasant, with a regular sound level. However, my hot soba fell apart, though still edible, while the cold version might be a better option for maintaining integrity. The flavor was enjoyable, not overly salty. I was situated in the main open area, but there are also bar sections and private room areas available As for improvements, replacing the cleaning products would be ideal. A staff member used a product with a strong smell to clean the next table. It was just when I was about to eat. Overall, it was a good experience but I recommend requesting a seating arrangement where they can assure that no cleaning will take place while being present.

Some of the fried food was not so good, but overall it's a decent place for lunch. Service is generally quick and pleasant, but we were served with chipped glass at least twice. It's a small thing but they could do a better job.
I had fairly high expectations for this place.
I listened to the chef being interviewed in a podcast. The soba is made in house. I ordered the tempura soba in hot soup. The soup was lukewarm. It was not the satisfying feeling that can only come from piping hot soup. I thought the tempura was greasy rather than light. The best thing was the salt it was served with.

The bar area in this restaurant was awesome, wonderful service and great for a low key snack and sake. Loved it https://www.facebook.com/share/p/7FTQTG5jrwL6PQ6m/?mibextid=WC7FNe

Beautiful restaurant! Very relaxing atmosphere between the lighting and the decor . I brought my daughters and friends for dinner it was just two blocks from where we were staying. The menu items all sounded delicious and was excited to try a few things . Some items priced pretty high but I don't mind if the food is good . We tried a few of the soba dishes and some of the appetizers which all of them were delicious and simply seasoned. May be bland for some people but you appreciate the simplicity of each dish and really taste each item. I really enjoyed everything we had and the staff was great .
A gem in the myriad of Japanese eateries in NYC
We were a group of 4 people and the place seemed to be pretty packed on a weekday. Waited for some mins before we got a table. The Yakitori’s were recommended where I took 3 types – Washu beef, Tsukune and the Dakimi Ume which were all delicious (highlight being Wagyu beef). For appetizers, we ordered the Jidori chicken kara-age (fired checiked) and agedashi tofu (shishito pepper) all excellent again. This goes down well with the Jap Asahi Beer and the Nigori Sparkling Sake.
Good food
Delicious soba noodles, but the rice dish was even better. Donburi was what the awesome rice dish was called and mine were served with fresh salmon. Try both the soba noodles and donburi rice to see what your preference might be.

Pretty crazy, but cracking down will cost them a lot to maintain. They probably will lose the fight.

In my experience they will typically restore your reservation if you say it was an error.
