Couldn't believe they had a whole vegan menu.
It's literally delicious and amazing. 10/10 recommend!

Vegetarians Rejoice! Hands down the BEST start-to-finish meal I've had in a restaurant in Connecticut in years. From the appetizer to the main course to coffee/dessert, everything was perfection. Throw in the view and suddenly you feel like you're on vacation. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Cannot get back soon enough.P.S. And yes, they have a separate vegan menu!

Today was our first time here and it will not be our last! This place has beautiful views of the marina, fresh local oysters, and excellent clam chowder! Great service and drinks from our bartender Angela! Can't wait to come back and try more items from the menu!
Be the first to ReplyAlways had wonderful service, meals, and drinks here.
Love it when the summer tourists are gone so I can sit with my local friends and pretend we're tourists!

We had a sunset dinner with a large party on their second floor. Great place to watch the sun go down over Mystic and enjoy a delicious well prepared meal. I tried the shrimp and scallop aguachile appetizer- which I'd never had before - and it was excellent. For a main I had the Seafood Paella. It was delicious. Great service and nice staff and cocktails.

Just make sure you have reservations.
Be the first to ReplyNot kid friendly at all.
Doesn't even have high chairs. Doesn't allow strollers but had a family seated at the entrance and made an exception for them but told us no so that's rude customer experience if you ask me. Would not recommend or go back.

First, be aware that everything - everything- is a la carte: cracker, bread, anything except a glass of tap water. This was my second time here because my first experience was bad so I decided to see if it was a fluke. The wait service was excellent. The food was not. Clams Casino were morsels of tire tread smothered in bacon garlic butter. Seriously, the clams were inedible. My Tuna was slightly better, not great. Cut too thickly for basically raw fish, it was served on a bed of non-description noodles cut so you needed a spoon to eat them. There will not be a third time.

Having been a fan of S&P Oyster in the past, we decided to go here again on our recent trip to Mystic. We were seated immediately, and took our time perusing the menu, as the menu was different than what I remembered in the past.I opted to start with some colossal shrimp cocktail, which was delicious! Next I had to try the clam chowder, which was thick, hot, and full of clams! For my main course I went with the pan seared sea scallops and pancetta. The scallops were good, but the sauce wasn't my favorite. Perhaps a little too lemony.I am sure that we will be back, as the service is always great here as is the food!

In beautiful downtown Mystic Connecticut you will find S&P Oyster Bar. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a nice clean design. Even though we didn't sit outside we still had a gorgeous view of the water. Since I was by the shoreline of Connecticut I was looking to order Seafood. Started off with clam chowder, shrimp cocktail, and finished with a salmon dish. The clam chowder was homemade and had good amount of clams. Also ordered their housemade bread. One thing I didn't like about that dish was that they had the dipping oil on the bottom of the plate and two of the pieces of bread soaked up all sauce and the piece on top barely got any. I would hope next time that they would put their dipping sauce in a separate plate than the bread. My salmon was cooked to perfection with a nice crust on top. I definitely enjoyed the corn and squash that also had some cilantro for seasoning. The service was fast and they always had filled our waters.

What a gorgeous view of the Drawbridge and waterway! The service was great and food looked like art work when it came to our table. Well worth the 45 min wait for our table. This is on our short list of must go again when in Mystic!!
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately my experience here was unenjoyable.
The best two aspects of this restaurant was the view on the second floor and our waiter. We went with a party of 6 for a late night dinner on a Friday night and they were very accommodating. They do not take reservations but we only had to wait about 10 minutes. We sat upstairs right up against the window and the view was so relaxing! That was very nice. Our waiter came over promptly and was very nice. We started with drinks and apps. We got the spin artichoke dip which was a healthy portion and I ordered the pear flower lemonade. My drink was a dud in my opinion. Started off nice but the aftertaste was similar to what plastic would taste like. For the food....none of us finished ours and very honestly all 6 of us did not enjoy the flavor of our food. It was so extremely bland or it was too sweet. Nothing was seasoned right to us. For my dinner I ordered two apps instead of one entree. I had the seafood crepe and the octopus. The crepe was a very sweet batter and the seafood inside literally tasted like nothing. It tasted like they added nothing at all to it. I was really surprised. For my octopus and the protein itself was good but whatever else they put on the plate once again was bland but also sweet. I had also tried my friends dinners and I could describe it the exact same way. The rice, the corn, the clams, the muscles...it was all very sweet but bland. Nothing to really grab your tastebuds. This restaurant is in a great location and the vibe is very nice so I would like to go back and possibly try it again but I'm unsure. It's hard to say yes- I recommend when 6 out of 6 meals were flat out bad. No one even took their leftovers home.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding meal preparation and the view is unparalleled.
The wait staff is attentive without hovering. Even waiting outside until the time for our reservation was a joy. I recommend a reservation especially on the weekend and parking may be a challenge so you may need to be prepared to walk from nearby lots.

We've come here as a couple and with parties of up to 15 and it's pretty great! The fried oysters are awesome and they make a good Bloody Mary. My kids also have great options here. Awesome spot, excited to keep going!

Just excellent! Fabulous to have full vegan menu as well as regular menu. Had: arugula salad, veg polenta, seafood paella, and bread and butter pudding! Beautiful setting and food was excellent. Would definitely return here.

This is a real gem. The crab cakes and tuna tartare are excellent and the scallops and pasta is a grand slam!

This place is really great--the service from start to finish was amazing. We were looking for a parking spot and the host actually helped us! The meals were delicious and the outside view was amazing. My only negative is that the risotto was a very small portion. It was a really delicious dinner.

Make reservations in advance. The good news is you can call them "anytime" to make them. I called at 9am and spoke to an actual person and had no issue making outside request. They are right on the water so you will have a view. Their menus cover all. Gluten free? Yep. Vegan? Yep. Like seafood? Yep. American? Yep. Allergy? Let them know.I had the summer salad (I love beets and a minor critique is they could have put a lot more in the salad). Otherwise, was pretty tasty.I had the vegan mushroom bolognese which was good but you have to really enjoy thyme/rosemary(?) and I'm not a huge fan. The scallops were really good, per my family. The drinks were tasty. They also have specialty drinks for kids (or those looking for mocktails).
Be the first to ReplyOur group of 7 thoroughly enjoyed our experience at S&P.
My husband and I hosted a family dinner this past week. We made reservations several weeks in advance since we were a larger group and were celebrating a milestone birthday. I was a little concerned that we might have a long wait since we'd be competing with the summer tourists, but our table was ready within a few minutes after our arrival. As requested, our table was by a window, and we were able to enjoy the magnificent view and sunset. The waitstaff taking care of our table were really on top of things and kept our drinks refilled and the table cleared. Each of the appetizers and entrees were picture perfect and tasted as good as they looked. Only a few of our group had room for dessert and when the birthday girl didn't order dessert, they brought out a plate, decorated with whipped cream, dessert sauces, 'Happy Birthday' written across the plate in chocolate, and a candle. We really appreciated that thoughtful gesture in celebration of my daughter's special day! I especially appreciate that we never felt rushed and were able to take our time and enjoy our evening out. We make it a point to come here every time we're in town and will definitely return this season.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food.
Nice view while dining. Waiter Kevin was attentive and personable. Only downside was host(ess) was brusque and unengaged. Greeter borderline rude but all good after seated.
Be the first to ReplyEverything about our experience at S&P was 5 star.
We started with drinks at the bar. All of the employees were so accommodating and nice. I loved how they were so knowledgeable on the area. We had a lot of questions about Mystic as it was our first (but not last) visit to the area. We wanted to know about the drawbridge, the weather, etc.. and everyone joined in on great facts and stories about Mystic. We had a table with a beautiful view. The food was fresh and delicious! I look forward to my next visit to Mystic and especially returning to S&P Oyster Restaurant and Bar.

.. I was blinded on the patio by the sun... inside is recommended. The fried oysters were overcooked and not plump. My daughters Fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli and chicken was not cheesy at all, rather had a mesquite taste because of the grilled chicken. My halibut was overcooked, rice was hard and the green curry sauce was sparse. I needed to ask for more sauce to make the fish moist. I think my dish may have been left in the salamander because as I was leaving, the same dish at another table looked fresh'er.Not a fan and will not return.
