Sparrow + Wolf Las Vegas Reviews from The Last Year
Great food and atmosphere
I’m always looking for something really good and not on the strip. My research lead me to Sparrow & Wolf. I made a reservation for 1 which wound up being a bar seat which was perfect. Upon walking in a wanted to love this place. It’s a relatively small place, lively atmosphere, casual feel, interesting dishes. When I sat down I almost made up my mind this would be 5/5 based on initial impressions and the menu. It definitely didn’t feel like “Vegas” more so an up and coming area on a major city like the West Loop in Chicago. Which was a great change of pace from the mega strip hotels and celebrity chef restaurants. I was greeted immediately by Drew behind the bar. Great attitude and full of information and recommendations which I really appreciated. I started with a cocktail. I initially had the Spring Mountain Sour in mind but then I saw special cocktail on the specials menu. I ordered that, unfortunately all the sage syrup had been used up so back to the Sour. It was a good cocktail. I noticed everything being made behind the bar was good technique and fresh ingredients. One thing that happened next…I was asked if indented ice water or sparkling. I went with sparkling. I took a drink and noticed something. If you’ve ever had a wine that was “corked” that musty smell, you’ll never forget what it’s like. That’s what the water smelled and tasted like. I had to mention it, and was given a new glass with sparkling water, since it may have been the glass or how it was cleaned. Unfortunately same odor. I switched to ice water. I asked and was given recommendations for food. I was advised the items were mostly small plates and took that into account. I started with the Bahn Cuon with duck. When it eventually came it was very good. I didn’t look at the time but it was probably 25-30 minutes from when I ordered to when it came. At one point I was told it was being finished and wound be right out and it was probably 5-7 minutes after that. I asked for a wine recommendation with it that I enjoyed. Next I ordered the beef tartar and also put in an order for the secreto pork as my main. Both of these items were very good. The only problem was again after a decent amount of time the pork came out. No beef tartar. I started on the pork and the about 1-2 minutes later the beef tartar came out. I was a little frustrated at this point after the length of time on the first item and then the next 2 coming out of order and basically at the same time. I received another wine recommendation which I enjoyed. I think I observed during the service hiccups that same of the servers did notice the problems and weren’t happy about it. I did finish with the chocolate torte which again was very good. At the end, it was a very good restaurant and I would definitely put on the list to go back again. The food was great there were just some timing issues and the sparkling water situation was odd. I did get comped on glass of wine because the issues which I greatly appreciated. From conversations I had while there the restart recently received some very good reviews which were significantly increasing its popularity.
We came here for a birthday and overall, i would come back
We came here for a birthday and overall, i would come back to try more. The place itself is nice and gives cozy/romantic/easy vibes but can use some renovations and updates. The lighting can be uped a bit, i think, but overall i liked it. The service was hands down fantastic. The staff is attentive and is always ready to give recommendations, answer questions, and fill up your water. They are prompt and just always ready to help. The food was the deciding factor for me and it came at a solid 3.75 between all of us. Starting with the naming of the plates; the names are the ingredients which is nice but also was too long that the menu was a bit confusing. And here it goes for the plates: 1) JAPANESE MILK BREAD - delicious. The butter is on the spicy side but no one had complains about this. Would ahppily take another round of it any day. 2) OXTAIL HUMMUS - that was probably the 2nd weakest plate we tried. The oxtail was completely lost in the humus and i felt like it was a waste to add it there. The roasted chickpeas, however, were a great addition and added to the crunch. My least favorite part in this plate was actually the naan. That was pita bread with some garlic sauce on top. Interesting plate but not great execution. 3) BRAISED RABBIT - that was delicious. Everything is in that plate was perfection for us. Without contender, this was our best bite of the day. The rabbit was cooked just right that no gaminess was to be found and then all the sauces were on point. 4) OCTOPUS SUKIYAKI - our second favorite plate of the day. Again, cooked really well and the man the sauce was delicious. Really hoping they used low sodium soy sauce as it was a very heavy soy-sauce-based sauce but no regrets. 5) BLACK PEPPER & HONEY PORK SECRETO - i was ok with this plate. The sauce is SPICY so be warned but my disappointment comes from the pork which was a little over cooked and sad. But the sweet potato that it comes with is on point 6) FIRE ROASTED LUMINA FARMS LAMB RACK - that was the weakest plate for sure. I love lamb and was looking forward to this but it really disappointed. The lamb was not cooked right and the sauce was just not the right combo (or it was missing something, i just couldn't tell). Also, the lamb comes on the heavy blue side which is ok for me but not a favorite with lambs. 7) WOOD GRILLED BROCOLLINI - surprisingly delicious. For desserts we had: 1) HONEY TOAST - yeah, it is delicious. Perfectly crispy and sweet. The ice cream on top was served just at the right temp so it was a perfect addition. Then the mango was sweet and just right. 2) CHOCOLATE GANACHE TORTE - while it was a delicious it was definitely not a ganache or a torte. This was a chocolate cake. Which is great, just not what you expect. The pistachio ice cream, however, was to die for. 3) They surprised us with a sundae which was also delicious and very sweet. We loved it. Overall, this is a place i'd visit again to try other plates but maybe twice is as much as i'd go back to it.
We must've came on an off night on Wed, 3/13.
The experience almost felt like they were still in the soft opening phase. We had a reservation for 7:30pm and waited a good 25 min to be seated. Granted the place isn't big and they were very busy. After we sat down, we perused the menu and ordered our food (Japanese milk bread, beef tartare, octopus, lamb chop, monkfish) and one drink that me + the bf planned to share (Hot Scotty). We got our 2 appetizers and was more than half way thru before someone came to tell us they ran out of the whiskey that is used in the Hot Scotty so we had to pick something else. We asked if there were any other whiskey substitutes and the waiter had to go and inquire. Turned out it wouldn't taste the same (although it was our first time trying it anyway). We then ordered 2 glasses of wine. About 2 dishes into the entrees, I got up to use the restroom. After I returned, I saw a lady with an entree on our table in which I realized my bf was saying we didn't order. They just put down a sea bass dish that they thought they had explained was the substitute for the monkfish we ordered (we never got that note from anyone). Our waitress then came and said the monkfish is usually reserved for people who ordered the tasting menu but neglected to tell us ahead of time. It was just a weird experience to be handed a dish that we didn't order that they thought we understood. Lastly when we got the bill to pay, the Hot Scotty was still on the bill After all that, I thought we would at least get a corrected bill. Overall, I'd say the food was overall good (minus the lamb chops that were way too fatty) hence I'm giving them 2 stars but it was very much a disappointing experience for our first time there.

Bad Decision: Over priced, undered sized, extremely long wait! Not worth it at all! So many better places to choose from in Vegas

Food is AMAZING! Bartenders & Staff double Amazing! Thank you Ashley for recommending very smooth Bordeaux (even though I am a cab girl) that paired perfectly with dinner. No disapointments !
Excellent restaurant in Chinatown.
Modern American fusion type cuisine. Cocktails were all good. We tasted multiple dishes. The not-so-good dish was the duck filling "banh cuon". The wrapping was too thick and the filling was bland and too little. No complaints about other dishes.
Popular and pricey, highly worth it at Sparrow and Wolf.
Never disappoints. Eclectic menu items that have deep flavors. Try oxtail hummus as a starter, outstanding. Octopus sukiyaki was next and excellent. Fire roasted rack of lamb is excellent. Like most restaurants, serving sizes were less than previous visits, almost small plate is what we ordered which was enough for 3 plus dessert. Specials are announced when you are seated. Call ahead for reservations, highly popular for table or bar service.
Service was incredibly slow.
Plan on two and a half hours for dinner. Portions small. Dessert was fabulous but the rest of the meal was very average.

A James Beard nominee chef, Bryan ,a spectacular front of house run by John. Every dish, drink, dessert tastes like the staff loves this place. And they all do. You will too.
Food, Service & Ambiance were amazing.
I was skeptical going to eat off the strip but am going to try it every time. Here's what we got: Hamachi - only thing we didn't like Beet Salad - super fresh Beef Tartare - the best I've ever had, we actually ordered a second after our main course I stead of dessert Lamb Rack - delish
Amazing food and drinks! A foodies dream.
Drinks were delish also and our waitress was super nice and really knew her menu. Ask about the chef and the name. Great back story.
My family and I have been wanting to try this place for
My family and I have been wanting to try this place for years now, always put it off due to cost but we had a special occasion so finally gave in. The atmosphere is nice, dark and moody which I don't mind. Service was slow but waitress was informative and kind. Unfortunately the food was...awful, truly the worst meal Ive have had in a long time. We were all just gagging things down at one point and couldn't even finish our last two dishes (which were supposed the be the best ones) Our steak was cold, rabbit was dry, oysters were really overly briny, yuzu butter just tasted like paprika spiced butter...we spent a lot of money on this meal and it was so sad that every dish was a disappointment. I do hope they focus more of quality of their dishes in the future because it is a nice place but as someone who doesn't get too many chances to eat this way it definitely was unfortunate to waste it on this meal.
A unique dining experience and well worth leaving the strip for
This restaurant was recommended by locals and has had prominent write-ups. It is not too far off the strip in Chinatown and is only a $9 Uber ride away. It is hidden in a nondescript mall, but once you enter and find yourself standing with 12 others despite reservations, you understand its popularity. It is not a large place. We were amazed at the level of service provided from the very start when the waiter addressed us by name. He was attentive all evening long with helpful descriptions and suggestions on what to order. It was obvious he really cared about what was being offered on the menu. He would check in on us frequently, but we never felt pressured or rushed. The menu and cocktails are eclectic to say the least. I love restaurants where you can honestly say you have never had a single item on the menu served that way before! It has a combination of small and large plates, so be sure to ask what is to share. We started with the roasted eggplant dip and beet salad and moved on to rack of lamb and pork secreto (think Iberian ham). It was all very rich and heavily spiced in an interesting way. Be sure to check on the level of spiciness if that is an issue for you. The cocktails were unusual and creative. You will definitely need some guidance on the ingredients. This was one of the best meals we had in our entire week in Las Vegas. It came to about $95 per person with tip.
AWESOME SPOT - away from the Strip
Best spot in Vegas! I am almost scared to write about them because we don't want to miss out on getting a reservation the next time we go. A group of us were in town for a week to watch a Raiders game and for a golf tournament. We had visited here a year ago and loved it and wanted to see if our recollection was correct. It was so good, we cancelled another night's reservation and went here twice during our 6 night stay in town. The food is absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic - warm, personal and fun! The second night we actually sat at the bar as it was packed (as usual) and had a great time chatting/bantering with the bar staff for 2+ hours. The managers was great (his name escapes me); we also had the amazing servers both times: Tito - bartender Ashley - head bartender Rig - server/waiter Jess - server/waiter The only downside is that Jess is an Eagles fan and joined one of our friends is singing their praise each time she stopped by... Small price to pay for the great atmosphere and food. This will always be our must visit when we go to Vegas. It may be our only restaurant we visit no matter how many days we stay. It is a bit off the strip but worth the Uber ride!
You will need extreme patience to get through this!
The food is tasty and well thought out but the time between courses is brutal! I also feel that the automatic gratuity does not allow you to show your frustration at how slow the service is. I normally tip well(20-30%) but would have liked an option to show my frustration.
Great food and service
Small restaurant with great food and service. I was dining by myself and decided to eat at the bar. The bartenders were great and very helpful. I would highly recommend sitting at the bar.
if you are a foodie this is a place for you!
We had an amazing experience and Sparrow + Wolf, Monday July 17th, 2023. We were doing some research before our trip and came across this find and made a reservation. We were a party of 4, made some notes as to what we were celebrating in the reservation notes which they paid attention to. It's off the main Vegas strip in China town and worth going off the beaten path for. The ambiance and food is spectacular. Once seated we were greeted with warmth and had a discussion about the special occasion we were celebrating. Our dessert also addressed the congratulations on the plate. Any staff member that came to our table exuded the same vibe, they knew what they were doing, they liked what they were doing and knew how to look after you, even if they were just filling up your water glass, professionalism + love showed through. We paid attention to what was suggested as to menu items and went with all the suggestions and a few of our own choices. There is an explosion of happiness in every mouthful in any dish, and you feel exactly what the name means - the delicateness of the sparrow + the more powerful wolf. There is a softness in every dish with the contrasting explosion of flavor. The food was so good all 4 of us had a hard time ranking the dishes...we had 4 appetizer dishes, 4 main courses and one dessert - all shared. We left nothing on our plates, we enjoyed and savored every bite. Cocktails were another hit - we loved the names, and one of them has a $3 donation towards the world central kitchen fund (until Sept 30th) which was a hit with us! I wish I remembered everybody's names so I could mention them in this review. We left just before sunset and there is great photo opportunity in the front of the restaurant, their sign lights up and there's an arch and a bench and back drops signs - we got some great memorable pictures, and food pics during dinner! Family being together celebrating/tourists in Vegas! This place gets 5 star rating. It's spectacular. I feel as if I was somewhere very special and Chef and kitchen staff - you all have amazing talent. Thank you.
Great Food - Great Service - Great Cocktails!
We were a party of four on a girls trip in Vegas celebrating a birthday. Let me just say that it is well worth the trip off the Strip in search of this restaurant. It’s located in a modest shopping center near Chinatown but in this case appearances are definitely deceiving. Everything was fantastic! We started with the Japanese milk bread and tuna tartare which were divine. We also had a number of, and highly recommend, the wood-fired grill dishes including the harrissa octopus and green goddess broccolini. The honey pork secreto was exceptional. We weren’t super hungry but when I return, I’ll definitely try the Chef’s menu. The service was terrific. Everyone is friendly and all the servers help out on the tables so you are never waiting for water or a cocktail. The hostess was very understanding (no attitude) that we did not want to sit at the table in the line of the kitchen. I think our server’s name was Felicia and she was truly fantastic. Last, it sounds a bit juvenile but at our waiter’s urging, I tried the daily cocktail which comes in the form of a slushee but she cautioned that they can catch up on you. The cocktail was delicious and she was right! If I lived in Las Vegas, this restaurant would definitely be in my regular rotation.
To many good restaurants in Vegas to eat here.
I did not have a good meal here. We ordered 8 small portion tapas style dishes and 7 of them were cold. When the waitress asked how our meals were I told her about them being cold. The assistant mngr came over and said that they did not have heat lamps to keep the food hot and I told her that was not my problem and regardless of there inability to buy heat lamps I expected my food to be at least warm if not hot. The mngr then can over to explain that if they made the food hot the moister would be cooked out and it would be dry. I had to call B.S. on this explanation. They finally relinquished and offered to take one of the dishes off of the bill. Overall this was a horrible dinning experience. Cold food, Argumentive wait staff, crazy loud music on top of an already noisy ambiance. I can not give them a good rating.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

How to list a Nobu Malibu reservation
Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
