Affordable, nice
Good food, fantastic staff who know the menu and suitable wines etc. Nice atmosphere. Expensive but still worth it. Go here!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent local food and experience, even for solo diners.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Dined alone but still had a great meal and experience. Staff were incredibly attentive without being over obtrusive. Highly recommended.

Always a pleasure. Great place with excellent food and drinks. The venue is fantastic and it is wonderful that the classic interior has been preserved.

Was going to have a coffee at Hoffen and fry a bit, but they ended up kicking me out for "too drunk" and I had only drunk 13 beers, 3 grogs and taken some cocaine.... Unwarranted kicking out in other words.. .Deeply dissatisfied

This is not what it used to be. The question is why ... messier. In principle, you are neglected. As a guest... so.. nah. This is not the Sturehof I know.
Be the first to ReplyFailed service
Failed serving and condescending butler. We booked a table in November for early seating on New Year's Eve. The table was small and without storage areas. After excellent oysters and champagne, it was time for the big Swedish lobster! In comes a large au gratin half of a lobster with an unopened claw and the waitress cannot serve it in pieces (this half must be divided in two) we get a minimal also broken "nutcracker" as a tool. The lobster is on a rack in the middle of the table and nothing else can fit. A salad bowl is sticky on the lobster tray and it is impossible to put the food on the small plates. The waitress offers to replace the dish but is not supported by the butler, who authoritatively explains that the kitchen does not have time to put out the food in another way and that we should not complain as this dish has been served before. The waitress does her best and the dish goes out to the kitchen again. Much later, a small plate of "lobster leftovers" appears. The serving is mismanaged. Sauce and fries are now cold. We feel humiliated by the court master, hungry and a couple of three thousand poorer! Sharpening, don't pick up a menu you can't serve!
Be the first to ReplyNice lunch
I’d lunch at Sturehof yesterday. I wasn’t hungry after a big breakfast so I only ordered a main course. I know seafood is the specialty of the restaurant, However, I’d traditional meat balls because those I’d in the restaurant in Vasa Museum a couple of days ago were disappointing. Fortunately the dish was so much better in Sturehof. The service was friendly and efficient. It’s a Sunday. While the atmosphere was lively, it wasn’t noisy.

Incredible seafood and shellfish! Had the lobster with fries and salad - truly delicious. Wonderful ambience too!
Be the first to ReplyOnce the greatest place in Stureplan, now a beer spot for young adults
Once upon a time there was a place in Stureplan called Sturehof. The pompous name indicated an air of class and distinct elegance. It was definitely the place to be where the beautiful people would meet. It even had a sort of a club way at the back where they would do pretty cool concerts and invited dj’s etc - rather younger people but the mix and the vibe was awesome. I was visiting from London in January and finally got a chance to see the renovated restaurant. Modern, indeed big changes: the restaurant part certainly improved and has now allures of a sort of a library room at the Grand Hotel. There are separate rooms for a more intimate dinner in the same library vibe. Dinner was good - nothing spectacular considering the price- and the staff was kind and helpful. On the same floor there is an inner courtyard with a bar absolutely packed with young adults 20-30 drinking predominantly beer served in very cheap glasses - not beer glasses. I felt like I was at university party at Medborgarplatsen. Service at the “beer garden” was slow and uninterested. Going down to the entrance floor I actually had to ask the staff if it was possible to lower the lights as the spots were way too bright at 11 PM. “I’m afraid I cannot help you with that sir”. We approached the bar for a couple of drinks - friendly staff and a nearly perfect execution of a margarita (perfect) and a gin tonic served on what seemed to be a water glass - can we pls get adequate glasses for the drinks? The whole area was a mix of ages which is great but there was a clear predominance of young adults in their 20s and 30s drinking beer which sent me back to the feeling that I was at Söder. If it were’t for the bright lights I would say I was at Kvarnen. I wonder how the numbers are doing with the crowd consuming so much beer… In my view it has lost its grandeur as so much better could have been done at such a privileged spot in Stureplan. But by all means, go check it out. It is still worth a visit but if you are over 35 get ready for a trip back to uni times. It is what it is. ;)
Be the first to ReplyGood food, horrible head waiter
Great location in central Stockholm. Good place for Swedish eating, good wine list, professional service. But, my my, stay far, far away from this place if the head waiter is a grey haired older guy. He runs the place like a sleepy Soviet bureaucrat. It’s simply a travesty of good service: obnoxious with a bad attitude. The diametrical opposite to 5 star service. Zero charm.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food. Nice atmosphere
Excellent restaurant. Food was lovely and well presented. Staff friendly. Mixture of herrings to start followed by seafood platter were delicious. A creed brûlée and sesame praline for dessert. Also good.
Be the first to ReplyHuge portions!
Very different food to any we’ve had before. They cram a lot of tables in but it makes for great ambience and the staff are great. People still being seated at nearly midnight and a constant stream of people. Would recommend for something different
Be the first to ReplyLegend that lives up to the expectations
Restaurant Sturehof is a landmark and legend in Stockholm restaurant scene. Yet is lives up to the high expectations when it comes to the standard of service, quality of food & drinks and atmosphere. We had a great meal here; the shellfish platter for 2 persons was a real treat and the Chablis was just a perfect match. Remember to make a table reservation. Very strong recommendation.
Be the first to ReplyInstitution in central Stockholm that has really gotten worst and worst, in every aspect. Dissapointing
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Stockholm and its been in the central of Stockholm for ages, but since the renovation of the galleria (Sturegallerian) were they are located, they have just gotten worst and worst, in every aspect; the local, service, food, menu. Diassapointing. My spouse took some customer here a few weeks before december, and was dissapointed, but I thought I would take my American friends here, since its a very typical swedish food kind of a menu. The local feels so small these days, and packed togehter, so hardly any space between tables. We were here on december 25th, the day after Christmas, so a lot of people in Stockholm go out that day, but already at 7 pm, all the oysters were out. That is really bad planning, and to not have a lot of them is just bad management. The shrimp sallad is of the menu, because the shrimps are to expansive (!?). For being an expansive restaurant, can they not afford shrimps.....come on. I opted for the Tortellini in broth as a starter, which was very good. Its not on the menu any longer, so cannot tell you what the broth was. For main I opted for a classic: Cod with boiled potatoes with shrimps (!?), horse radish and some browned butter. This dish keeps getting smaller and smaller, and with less shrimps, every time I take it. A bit of a dissapointment. Want to have Moules Mariniere, but they have not had that either for some time. For the coffee, we wanted a smaller bit of chocolate called Plopp, which was on the menu, but then they said that that was of as well and had not been offered for some time....but still on the menu!?? They print a new menu every day, how difficult can it be to take it out!? Overall, a huge dissapointment and I will really consider going there again.
Be the first to ReplyRenovation impacting
One of of my favourites but it’s struggling during its renovation. Slow service. Average food. Too cold on the exterior terrace opened to compensate for reduced table numbers during renovation. Fantastic service recovered a Disastrous evening. Second time it’s happened. It’s getting around as many similarities to ours from other feedback. Hope the new Sturehof will be better but will give it a miss until then. Sad compared to the way Ostermalmstorg hallen handled it’s transition.
Be the first to ReplySatisfying Stockholm Experience
I went with some friends on a Thursday evening. Arriving, the atmosphere was energetic with a good mix of people watching. We were seated near the window and ordered caviar and with some small traditional Swedish appetizers. Both were fantastic. I ordered the halibut- which was great. Service was good and we all had a great experience. Of note, they had a very notable list of Pappy Van Winkle - something that we can’t find in the states.
Be the first to ReplyFresh and simple.
Went to this familiar place for some light food. Asked for the classic toast skagen but in their version it has lactose. Ordered fresh shrimps instead. They were small, but fresh as promised. The mayo had a elegantly light garlic flavor which was nice. Toast and butter came perfect. The wine list is good and all was ok as before.
Be the first to ReplyLocal Swedish food
I came here for some local Swedish cuisine the food is nice and the ambiance is so local , the prices are as rest of sweden. Give it a try

The place to be, to be seen. Fine food too, especially seafood and fish, the Swedish way. Book well in advance. We had the menu, which was fresh but too much of the same everything with butter emulsion. Perfect service and large wine list.
Be the first to ReplyWould definitely go there again!
Great food, attentive and honest staff, comfortable atmosphere even though it was FULL of people. Booking a table in advance online is very easy and recommended. Would definitely go there again!
Be the first to ReplyYou can always find good sea-food here
We tried our luck and slipped into Sturehof during our shopping round, without having reserved a table. The Maitre d' performed some magic and found space for us even though the lunch service was at its peak. The restaurant is especially strong on sea-food. The food is consistently good - it has never let us down. This time we enjoyed a tasty lemon sole.
Be the first to ReplyOyster Evening To Remember
The food at Sturehof is delicious but this time we decided on Oyster alone! A very good table, ice cold white wine and three type of Oysters! First one each, delicious! After that two different types equally good! It was a fantastic evening with the best of staff! See you soon!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Fish dishes
As we are used to dining late, Sturehof became our only choice after drinks with friends, as we at 22.30 decide to look for somewhere to dine!, thankfully the kitchen here closes at 01.00. This is a very classical place and fish is excellent!! The lemon sole was just perfect!! Service was helpful and friendly.. the starters didn’t really say much to be honest.. but since fish was excellent we left satisfied!!!
Be the first to ReplyAwful experience, discrimination
My to great friends and I ordered a tavle for tonight (17th of february) for some cocktails. We went to the the place and was guides by some guests to the entrence. The door was open and we went in straight to the bar. A couple of friendly girl approached my friend and out of nowhere the doorman came to kick us out. The reason for that was that WE approached the girls and had a wrongky attitude. We did’nt. The reason was that my middle-Easter friend was “takling to much” and he was not fit for the place. When we were kicked out, the nice girls came and explained the situation. The doorman refused her story and redirectied the explaining to something else. That we didn’t “wait” for the doorman, who was in the bar. He literaly “kicked and pushed” u’s out because he coud’nt justfy his jugdement. This is the worst, discriminating and most imbarrasing experience in my life. We are from Copenhagen and came toddy, so we don’t know the exact norms in Sweden.
This is disgusting and shoking.
Amazing food and impressive service
We got the restaurant recommended to us and it lived up to the expectations. Best fish I've had and the goat cheese starter is a must have!
