Came here for a celebratory meal and was left disappointed. We understand that Sushi Yasuda is a fine dining place and the price match that expectation, but the food did not. We chose the omakase, and most of the pieces are not interesting, or tasted particularly fresh. A few pieces of fish were mushy and on the verge of going bad. Almost every piece of sushi received the same treatment: light brush of soy and yuzu zest. The yuzu was zested so many times that the last few pieces of sushi we had was bitter from the pith.
Perhaps worse than the food was the overall omakase experience. The chef did not really speak to us or explained the pieces we were getting, as opposed to every other omakase experience we've had. One piece of fish had 5-6 pieces of bones in it, and when informed of this, the chef said "it happens," and nothing more. There was not rhyme or reason as to the progression of the pieces we were getting. The pieces of sushi came at alarming rate. It feels very much like a cash grab, throwing as many pieces of sushi at us in the shortest time possible to turnover the seats.
We only do omakase a few times a year so we were hoping that this would be a treat, but it was both expensive and enormously underwhelming. This is hands down the worst omakase experience we've had anywhere. Maybe they just had an off night, but at the price we were charged we will certainly not take another chance with Sushi Yasuda.
