Amazing quality food and wonderful atmosphere
We had a lovely evening here, food is incredible. Such high quality ingredients and care goes into every bite. It is definitely worth queuing for but if you can call in advance and get a booking for the 7pm service as we did, even better. Thank you for looking after us, we had such a memorable evening!

This restaurant had been recommended to us by a local but we couldn’t book. Turned up at 7 and there was a queue. Decided to wait and I’m so glad we did. Food was delicious , hearty and excellent value. Huge portions. Staff worked almost manically but still managed a joke. Turn up early and hungry!!!!
Be the first to ReplySimply stunning ..... I advise you to book.
Quite simply this little restaurant kitchen creates beautiful food in which the ingredients are the stars. I am unable to find fault with any aspect of this restaurant. Waiting staff were charming and, as has been said elsewhere here, patient despite the queue on the street. We had lunch here on Saturday and returned on Sunday. The prawns arrive in a frying pan and I advise you to save some bread to absorb the juice because it'll make you smile. We smeared the garlic on the bread and it was beautiful. We've eaten octopus and rice here and it's remarkable. It's oven baked but the octopus melts in your mouth; I've never eaten octopus like it. We also had the seafood and rice and again, I don't really have the superlatives to describe it. Every mouthful was a joyous experience. On both occasions we drank a crisp white wine recommended by the waiter and we finished with a 10 year old Kopke port. Read this in tandem with the other reviews and take a look at the queue on the hill down to the restaurant - you won't be disappointed.

I guess we were just lucky. No waiting. Had the octopus rice. Wonder how it was cooked to make octopus so soft. I will leave the wonder to the chef.

The only way to get a reservation is to plan weeks ahead, otherwise be prepared to wait. After a 40 minute wait, we ordered the clams, the prawns and the Octopus Rice. All delicious and perfectly cooked. The accompanying alvarinho wine was outstanding.

We had an amazing meal here on our last night in Porto. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. A+++++ Reservations here are a must!!

Although a little on the small side this is a perfect restaurant, great ambience, absolutely lovely staff, marvellous wines - I thought the pork ribs over cooked and the chorizo rjce a little greasy but it dod not stop us having the perfect restaurant evening. It is a must try

This restaurant was recommended by our daughter and did not disappoint! The restaurant is small so book ahead and be prepared for a truly interesting experience. The owners were welcoming, friendly and helpful and the food and wine was excellent. The sea bass arrived baked in salt, in flames! The best I’ve ever tasted (filleted expertly at the table) and the accompaniments were equally beautifully cooked. The lamb was also lovely. I had a delicious homemade panne cotta for dessert. All in all a truly delightful evening out. An unforgettable experience.

We had a great meal here! Would encourage you to make a reservation and to try the octopus salad as a starter - most tender we had in Portugal! Very, very small restaurant that definitely caters to the tourist crowd, but is by no means a trap. Good value.

Absolutely delicious! Tiny restaurant- they take reservations but they are booking two months out. We showed up around 8 and waited about 30 minutes for a table.

In an alleyway, this was the best eating experience we had in Porto… perhaps in our two weeks in Portugal. Food was excellent, we ordered the Bacalhau (codfish) and it was prepared in a cast iron casserole with oven roasted sliced potatoes in olive oil w sliced onions and olives. Simply the best. And we have had a lot of seafood. Our other main dish was pork ribs which was presented w freshly sliced oranges that was a perfect accompaniment, sweet with salty. I had a port tonic that was very refreshing, water was icy cold and of course everything is served with attention and care. The blue & white plates are custom ordered and the white napkins crisply ironed. Our waiter was there at all the right times and made our meal enjoyable. He pours the port tonic in front of you with the bottle of white port. Our only tip is make reservations! We lucked out and got a table outside after being the 4th in line for lunch as soon as the restaurant opened. There was always a line of people waiting. Very pleasant experience all in all.

We happened upon this place just before lunch and very soon there was a line up. You must book ahead even for lunch as there are only a handful of tables, or be the lucky first few people in the line up before opening time. I loved the garlic prawns, the octopus rice and Alheira sandwich. The lamb chops are flavorful but a little on the fatty side. The staff are very friendly. I would love to go back but you need to plan ahead or have luck on your side to get in. But if you are in, it’s so worth it
Be the first to ReplyFantastic meal and service
First meal in Porto and I struck gold. Very friendly service and excellent food. It was packed inside so I was grateful that the tiny table outside was just paying their bill so I only waited 5 min to get seated. I wanted to sit outside anyway, so it was meant to be. I had a glass of vino verdhe, the clams, which are my fav, and the octopus rice. I thought the octopus rice was about a third of the size it actually was so my eyes bugged out when they brought it to the table. Needless to say I had plenty of leftovers. The dish was phenomenal. So flavorful.
