A wonderful place, great service and really REALLY good
A wonderful place, great service and really REALLY good food. If you're choosing between this and the place across the street, you MUST CHOOSE THIS ONE. So much better!!!!
Entering the restaurant, we were enveloped in a tantalizing
Entering the restaurant, we were enveloped in a tantalizing aroma that hinted at the culinary delights awaiting us. My friend and I embarked on a gastronomic journey, savoring a plethora of meticulously crafted dishes. Each plate boasted a symphony of flavors, showcasing a harmonious blend of unique ingredients and spices. It was an unforgettable experience that delighted our taste buds and left a lasting impression on us.
I've been going to this restaurant for years and I couldn't
I've been going to this restaurant for years and I couldn't believe the horrible meal I had tonight. I ordered for takeout 2 tikka masala's and one vindaloo along with a vegetable side dish What I got were 3 soup dishes and a tasteless vegetable side dish. The vindaloo looked like soup and judging from the scant amount of morsels in the dish, it would be best described as soup. The reddish brown liquid in the vindaloo was tasteless and I can't even tell you what it was. At least the sauce in the tikka masala was up to standard but the chicken was tough and tasteless. I'm wondering if this restaurant has not changed hands?
Disappointed.
This used to be my favorite Indian restaurant in town. Its been a while since we do both live close, but we would frequently go there if we were in the region. Something has changed. No daal when you walk in. My daughter's 19$ dish had a tiny amount of chicken. We order indian locally and usually have leftovers for less price. And My dish had a hair in it.
Absolutely crushed the lamb and chicken! Very flavorful and
Absolutely crushed the lamb and chicken! Very flavorful and loved the mango lassi. Service: Like a God. Very quick service and water was always refilled. Mellow ambiance! Light to moderate noise and overall great place to visit if you want to be filled up quickly. Would come again! (,:
I finally decided to order from Taste of the Himalayas
I finally decided to order from Taste of the Himalayas after reading all the good reviews from multiple platforms. I kept it simple and ordered my go to, chicken korma and plain naan bread. Boy was I disappointed when the food arrived. Before tasting anything I noticed that the chicken korma had 6 small bite sized pieces which is absolutely ridiculous for an $18.99 dish. When I finally tried the food the rice was horrible and had that overwhelming cumin flavor with tons of cumin seeds. The chicken was so dry and chewy, and the sauce was just too sweet. The chicken and the rice were inedible. I ended up just eating the naan bread. I think this was the worst Indian food I've ever had. I've had Indian food specials for $6 in New York City that were so much better. I've had Indian food from all over and never have I had anything this bad. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it was an off night, but I will not be trying this place again. The food is terrible and it's overpriced to boot. Not going to risk wasting $30 on a meal I couldn't even eat again.
This is the best Indian food in San Diego hands down.
I wish I took pictures. Inside is beautiful. Pro tip- book the floor seated table for the full experience and don't be afraid to ask for recommendations.. the staff is amazing. I've tried pretty much every dish on the menu and it's truly authentic and delicious. Best place in SD for Indian food hands down.
We have been coming here for years and years, before events
We have been coming here for years and years, before events at Pechanga Arena (formerly the Sports Arena). Even though the location isn't ideal, and the inside is nothing special, the food and service has always been good and it has been part of what makes our trips to the games at the arena so much fun. Last weekend was our first visit in about 6 months, and it will definitely be our last. First off: no more complimentary mini-bowl of dal soup! What the heck?!?!? Dal is what made me learn to love this type of food in the first place. And I don't want a whole bowl of it, just a taste, like what we used to get with every meal. The server told us that the owner discontinued it because of the cost. Secondly, the food just wasn't as good. We ordered a few of our old standby curries, and they were just meh. Both of us were burping up the food all night, which hasn't happened before. We even confirmed our negative reactions by going to a small, new-ish Himalayan/Indian restaurant in Encinitas yesterday, and ordered some of the same things. It was excellent, AND included a small portion of dal. AND no burping it up all night. Thirdly, the service was slow. We always give ourselves plenty of time to eat before the game at the arena, and have always had to sit in the car waiting for the doors of the arena to open because Taste of Himalaya has always had very good service. But on this visit, we waited for over 10 minutes till anyone took our order. There were no other customers at the time, although there were several phone/internet orders being processed. We ordered momos, which are an appetizer, but they didn't come until after our curries had already arrived. Then it seemed to take forever to get the check, again with no other customers in the restaurant. Lastly, and this is nothing new, the restroom is somewhat sketchy. The floor is always sticky and it creeps me out. Our tabletop was sticky as well this time. I remember in the past, there were sheets of glass on the tabletops, and these were easier to keep clean. But they were gone. I had always overlooked the restroom and somewhat less than ideal interior, but Taste of the Himalayas now has more cons than pros. We will not be back. And it makes me sad.
We tried a new chicken, but we prefer the chicken tika
We tried a new chicken, but we prefer the chicken tika misala. The nann was good as always. The service was good, not too active though. The ambiance is decorative, many paper lanterns.
This place is hit or miss.
Sometimes it's awesome and sometimes it's disappointing. The heat for the dishes is like playing Russian Roulette. A 7 maybe just a little heat and the next time it will curl your nose hairs. My guess is they have different chefs and one of them is subpar.

Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

When it says working on bid, it means there are people looking to fill it.
