I ate here in September and had a great experience! All of
I ate here in September and had a great experience! All of the dishes have so much creativity put into them. Some of the highlights for me were the tomato gazpacho, the westholme wagyu ribeye, the SQUAB , and the cantaloupe slush. I really did not like the cucumber nori dessert because I hate cucumbers, the basil dessert was pretty interesting as well. The service wasn't anything special but everyone was very nice. I would definitely come back here.

Food was top notch! I've now only been to three Michelin star restaurants but I would go again and skip on another lol.I gave it four out of five because I do feel as if the staff was not as welcoming as the other two restaurants we've been too. Or maybe it's just an Alinea group vibe that's different. The added plate which was a white truffle pasta dish was well worth the price.I do dislike how they tell you about it, let you decided, THEN tell you it's $95 a plate and THEN asks again if it's still ok. Like we're too cheap to want it.I will say that the dinner starting out that way had me start with a bad taste in my mouth. But the food saved it.

Be the first to ReplyA highlight for me was the truffle caviar in the first
A highlight for me was the truffle caviar in the first course tartlet and and the fourth course coconut miso soup! Another dish that deserves a special shout-out is the Nori dessert with several different textures and flavors of cucumber, nori, yuzu, and white chocolate! Lastly, we were extremely (extremely!) impressed with the wine pairings as well as the spirit-free pairings. Each drink complimented the tasting menu like soulmates!!As a vegetarian tasting menu, this was very unique. Each dish used ingredients I never would've thought would work together. However, I was a bit surprised that most of the meat substitutions were just more vegetables. Overall, it was a great experience and we enjoyed the creativeness!
Be the first to ReplyWe came here on our anniversary a couple of weeks ago.
The ambiance was small and quiet with an intimate inviting vibe. There were only a hand full of tables. The waitstaff was amazing. We ordered the capellini with the truffles and adored it. Well worth the extra money. The chef came out and grated the truffles herself. As for the rest of the meal , We started with the wagyu canapés which was savory and delicious. We had the lychee foie gras which was an interesting texture with unexpected sweetness. The white pumpkin soup was my favorite for the mix of autumn flavors. The caviar dish was unexpected with the banana and miso. I enjoyed the black cod but found the sauce a little too overpowering for the fish. The squab was good but didn't stand out. I really enjoyed the wagyu ribeye with the peanuts and jackfruit. The palate cleansing courses of tamarind and nori were refreshing without being overly sweet. The Meyer lemon with dark chocolate texture turned me off a bit but the flavors were good. I enjoyed the experience. It was a long drawn out experience which I don't usually get that much time with my husband uninterrupted so although at the end of the meal I was tired, we both found it really great to reconnect.
Be the first to ReplyWhile planning our Chicago trip, my friend and I wanted to
While planning our Chicago trip, my friend and I wanted to indulge in a Michelin Star restaurant. After some research we decided that we wanted to go to Temporis. Best decision ever! For such a phenomenal experience, I feel like it was extremely affordable at $195/person for 3 hours of glory. This is probably one of the best meals I have had in my life... and I eat really well. The experience started off on a wonderful note. We arrived earlier than our reservation before the restaurant was even opened but we were welcomed in by Laura. That was much appreciated since it was so chilly outside. It keeps getting better and better as she welcomed us to take all the pictures we wanted and even helped us take a few. Above and beyond service is what you can expect from Temporis. To go with our meal, we decided to get the Standard Pairing ($115/person) and we were able to hear beautiful descriptions of 5 tastings by Kayla their fantastic sommelier. All of the tastings paired perfectly with each corresponding course. So their tasting menu is inspired by whatever is currently growing in their hydroponic garden. I also noticed a lot of seasonal items so I imagine that comes into play with their menu as well. However the magic happens, I'm loving it. We had the most delightful meal with canapes trio of wagyu, uni and pear. There was foie gras, white pumpkin and caviar. These were bites I continue to daydream about. Then we got to the heartier items like the black cod which happens to be one of my favorite proteins, and a squab which happens to be one of my friend's favorite proteins and this glorious wagyu ribeye. Then there was a tamarind palette cleanser, followed by 2 desserts, a nori and a basil. We also received a complimentary celebratory dessert with what tastes like a matcha ice cream base with the most glorious meringue torched and then topped with gold flakes. AMAZING!! I feel like I have lived a fulfilled life after enjoying this meal. The overall experience was spectacular. The devil is in the details. There were new utensils with every dish and new glasses to correspond to every tasting. All of the glasses were flawlessly clean. When they noticed my friend was left handed, they knew the set her up for the left handed setting. Everything was so incredibly thoughtful. I even notice when we use the restroom, they go in and reset everything so you get to experience it like no one's been in that restroom before. The toilet paper even gets that fancy triangle folded edge. Just when we thought the experience couldn't get better, Chef Troy George offers to take a picture with us. HOW NICE!! Wait... even better... despite being so busy in the kitchen making glorious meals for everyone... he cared enough to ask us to see if we like the photo or we can retake it. HOW SWEET!!Thank you so much to Chef Troy Jorge, Laura, Kayla and the entire team for making our night so special. I truly felt like royalty. I will definitely come back the next time I have the opportunity to come back to Chicago.
Be the first to ReplyI was in the city for the weekend and decided to try this
I was in the city for the weekend and decided to try this out. They are a Michelin star restaurant that offers solo reservations, so that was good for me.As soon as I stepped foot into the restaurant, I was greeted and already felt at home and welcomed. The service here was incredible. All the staff here were professional and polite. Each time a new dish comes out, you receive new utensils to work with according to the type of dish. Every dish is explained to you very clearly and not once did I not know what I was eating. In the middle of my time here, I went to the restroom and was escorted there. When I came back to my table, I had received a new napkin and had my water topped off. I did not notice right away, but that was awesome. The dishes here were excellent and creative. Things that I would not have expected to go well together actually paired well. There is also an option to include a drink pairing. They have different tiers of wine options and also a non-spirit option. I actually went with the non-spirit option as I am not the biggest wine drinker. Like I said with the food, the drink pairings worked very well and I was even somewhat shocked. I do feel like you must include a drink pairing to have the best experience here. I actually received a complimentary dish from the chef (assuming because I was a solo diner), which was awesome. From the outside, the restaurant looks like an older city building that does not look impressive at all. However, the interior has an upscale, fancy vibe to it. Definitely felt like I was eating at a more expensive restaurant. The restaurant itself is fairly small, only with around 10ish tables (not sure of the exact amount). This makes everything fairly intimate which is another reason why I felt like I was connecting with everyone and everything.Overall, my experience here was pretty amazing. I came here by myself and not once did I feel like I was being judged or treated differently. I was expecting to be the only solo diner for the night, but there was actually another solo diner finishing up as I was getting started. I would definitely come again, either by myself or with other people. Yes, it is a bit pricey. But, the experience and the service I received made it extremely worth it.*Little small note: They do charge a fee for water service, which was something I was not expecting. Maybe it was just for the sparkling water. Did not take away from or ruin my experience in anyway, just was not expecting it.*
Be the first to ReplyThis is the 4th time I've been to Temporis.
It is definitely a splurge, but after going to 17 Michelin restaurants in Chicago, I'd say it's the most consistently wonderful meal. Troy Jorge and Jacquelyn Paternico make the food innovative and delicious, always focused on flavors. Some of the others are too focused on wow-ing with technique or unnecessary ingredients and miss on the fact that first and foremost, everything should taste good. If you only go to one Michelin restaurant in Chicago, this is the one. And always get the wine pairings! They don't skimp on the pours, and I've enjoyed almost every wine I've ever had there. Go! I'll be back after a few months too!
Be the first to ReplyMy family and I have been making it tradition to do
My family and I have been making it tradition to do Michelin Star restaurants for each birthday. This one just didn't execute for us, yet it was the most expensive one thus far. I was not comfortable as I was in others and felt this place to be too uptight for my taste. We loved our sommelier and servers, who were kind - but felt the atmosphere overall wasn't very welcoming/warm.The food was nicely presented, but for some reason all had a similar taste. Acidity was high in every dish and seemed to be continuously focused on citrus (and I'm a huge citrus lover). Some did hit on some awesome flavor notes like the foie gras. I would have appreciated more fat or diversity. The timing on some dishes felt a bit rushed too, especially with the pallet cleanser. I had a couple tastes, then there it went.We were charged a really dumb, enormous up charge for sparkling water as well - for a brand I have bought for 4 bucks anywhere else. I also felt pressured to go with the wine pairing. We at first said no thank you. We wanted to buy a bottle, but every single one was WAY overpriced - so we said f it. That being said - the wine was the highlight for me. Nice that they offer half pour price as well.Overall - not a bad meal, just not mind-blowing or even something I would talk about and recommend to others for the experience.
Be the first to ReplyTruly overrated and over priced.
The presentation was beautiful but the taste was only good. But for that price, it should taste amazing. The meat meal did taste good, but they really skimped on the vegetarian menu. Also, the staff kept asking if we wanted to upgrade our experience for extra truffle or drinks or whatever at an additional cost that it felt like we were being sold to during our experience, which didn't feel great. The inside of the restaurant felt a bit like the United airport lounge along with its freezing air conditioning. Very uncomfortable.
Be the first to ReplyWow, one of my favorite experiences in Chicago!! Pretty
Wow, one of my favorite experiences in Chicago!! Pretty reasonable price point at a couple hundred bucks, the wait staff is fantastic, the dishes are so interesting! Here are some highlights:* The table plants are edible! Lol. They taste pretty good too, kind of like an arugula, they grow it themselves (and send you home with a surprise, I don't want to spoil it)* If you're dining alone (which I unfortunately do quite often) they give you an extra course compliments of the chef! For me it was a delicious lobster / seafood ceviche type of dish* Lots of citrus type flavors for this meal, possibly seasonal - went super well with the pork course. None of the dishes are overly sweet, even the dessert is pretty balanced. I can still taste that white chocolate ganache Would come back again!!
Be the first to ReplyCan't say enough good things about this experience.
The menu was diverse, creative, and inspired. The meal had a great flow. The plates were colorful and flirty. Every bite was delicious and satisfying. We got the supplement of Austrian truffle arancini which was exquisite. The service staff were excellent. The wine pairings were thoughtful and the pours were generous :) our parting gift along with sweets was a cup of Persian watercress seeds in a growing medium so we can grow our own microgreens! I think this restaurant deserves more stars in my humble opinion. Definitely will be visiting again for a special occasion.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a remarkable experience! Sophisticated and creative.
Everything was well thought out- Service, food, pairings, ambiance (including the music) were spot on. Michelin should reconsider and give them more stars (deservedly!) My husband and I got lucky and were able to book a table on a Saturday night. This was our best dinner in a while. We opted for the grand reserve pairing and spirit free. Service and food had a rhythmic flow throughout the dining experience. Food presentation was artfully curated (test tubes? terrarium?) and they tasted very good! Chef Troy (Grace and Acadia alum) is a gem! The play with citrus throughout the dishes is genius. We opted for the add on truffle arancini, and it was so worth it. Desserts followed through with the same theme (and surprised us with truffle ice cream!). Chef Jacquelyn is a master of gummies and sorbet. We thoroughly enjoyed our night, with a teabag from rare tea cellars, snowflake cookie, and microgreens starter to take home. Thank you, Temporis for being here during the pandemic. We appreciate you!
Be the first to ReplyHad an amazing experience back in September of 2021.
Was absolutely wowed by the ambiance, service, the creativity and playfulness of the chef. Each dish was carefully concocted and beautifully articulated and was very pleasing to the eyes.
Be the first to ReplyThis review is for my dining experience back in September
This review is for my dining experience back in September 2021, so the photos might not reflect the menu right now :)Overall, the food at Temporis was good. The foie gras dish and all the desserts were very memorable. I wasn't a huge fan of the canapes and the gazpacho soup though. The presentation of the dishes were amazing - every course was plated and presented so beautifully. The microgreens as palette cleansers were a cute touch.I thought the decor of this place is pretty old school given the menu and the concept of this restaurant is pretty innovative. Service was good, but it felt a bit robotic (not a complaint! maybe it's just me).
Be the first to ReplyI've been to all of the top rated restaurants in the city
I've been to all of the top rated restaurants in the city and this one rivals, if not beats, many of them. Such a hidden gem and I wish I'd been in sooner. Every bite was creative, beautiful, and over the top delicious. The service was outstanding, the pairing options were flexible and perfect, and the atmosphere was sexy without being pretentious. LOVE!!!
Be the first to ReplyHere's the headline: Definitely a 2-Star Michelin
Here's the headline: Definitely a 2-Star Michelin destination.Exceptional service. Very creative, flavorful cooking. Truly artistic presentations. Below is just one example: the edible terrarium. Be aware the cooking is sophisticated and subtle. You will be full after the 10th course, trust me. This is not a place for kids or people who will quip, "can we stop off at Portillos on the way home?"Generous pours on the "reduced" five glass flight. The decor is beautiful as well.Highly recommended as a serious dining experience, worth the serious price.
Be the first to ReplyA real treat for a celebration.
My favorite aspect was that they had a reduced pour wine pairing and offered reservations for a single diner. I wish every tasting menu provided reduced pour for those of us who cannot handle a full pouring but don't want to be wasteful. I also looked at Next, Esme, Oriole and even with contacting no one offered a single diner and I was in town on business. Temporis saved the day. I strongly recommend the caviar supplement if it is available, it was the best caviar course I have had. The service of course is impeccable and every dish was prepared and serviced with care. If you are there for a special occasion they go above and beyond. If I am in Chicago again J would definitely return.
Be the first to ReplyYou can easily walk pass the restaurant without noticing it
You can easily walk pass the restaurant without noticing it because the outside of the restaurant is very ordinary, but the inside is well furnished. We tried the tasting menu at Temporis for a birthday celebration. As you can see, every item on the tasting menu are perfectly plated, but in very small portion. The entire dinner was more like an art show and certainly for experience. The taste varies from each item, but sadly it mostly did not impress me too much. As a Michelin star restaurant, it is quite pricy and I recommend fir only very special occasions.
Be the first to ReplyThis place was amazing and it can easily be a two or three
This place was amazing and it can easily be a two or three star Michelin starred restaurant!Wine pairing went well with the meal and the service is top notch. The restaurant is relatively small so it is cozy with nearby dinners. Since it is small there's always waitresses around for assistance. The food was delicious all around but some of the flavors and style were repeated. I would had preferred to have something new each time. The presentation of the food was impressive as well!
