A must visit
Recommended by St Regis concierge I visited this Indian restaurant for an early dinner and it was a good choice. Being an Indian living in another country I am always curious to see how authentic the cuisine is. Here you get for sure authentic Indian cuisine except I hope they had more option of Indian dessert. I opted for a thali which is a great way to taste quite a few items without being too much and it was perfect. Never had such a good option of Indian style baked salmon. Service was good too. Gets busy later in the evening. But I had all the attention from the staff through out my dinner.

Came here on a rainy cold afternoon withtk reservations on a Wednesday. Place was empty. Turned away and staff refused to seat us because they don't take children less than 8. We our kids were 8 and 6. Glad we went elsewhere. Friends told us later food is sub par and overall disappointing

My sister and I had an unforgettable dining experience at The Bombay Club in DC! The elegant ambiance, impeccable service, and delectable Indian cuisine made it a culinary delight. We highly recommend trying their flavorful dishes and indulging in the inviting atmosphere. The Cobra Coffee Experience is a MUST!! #DiningExperience #TheBombayClubDC
Be the first to ReplyExcellent location and great consistent service
Went for a Christmas dinner with the entire family. Great service and great food. Some dishes are better than others. Will definitely come back. Excellent location.
Be the first to ReplyNot worth the money at all!
Service great but food terrible for vegetarians; complete rip off given cost; I have been to food trucks that were better, do not go.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Elegant Indian Food
Exceptional food. Elegant ambiance with comfortable seating options, nice visual experience with attractive decor and lighting. Live piano music. Helpful service without being intrusive. The kale appetizer is shockingly delicious. Aromatic spices with delicious flavor profiles throughout the menu. Several of the reviewers took issue with the cost of the food; however, the food was high quality and beautifully executed. In my opinion it is a good value if you desire high quality food. If you are looking for an inexpensive dining option this may not be for you— look at the menu online first. Will add this to my short list of restaurants in DC.
Be the first to ReplyDecent Indian food near WhiteHouse
Good Indian food near WhiteHouse, portions were small, but the food was delicious. Don't opt for outdoor dining in summer, as mosquitoes are very active, and the restaurant has no proper protective measures to prevent bug bites.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional food and ambience!!
Thoroughly enjoyed the warm hospitality and the food at The Bombay Club. Dhal makhni is one I highly recommend and the old fashioned!!

We love Indian food. The service was awful. The food was very overpriced. Unfortunately, not our normal expectation for India food and service!
Be the first to ReplyEnchanting Evening of Good Indian Food with Live Piano Music at The Bombay Club
The Bombay Club is a fantastic Indian restaurant that has been in operation for 30 years, conveniently located near the White House. Our recent visit to the restaurant was an enchanting evening filled with delicious Indian cuisine and a great ambiance that was enhanced by the live piano music playing in the background. The reservation system was transparent and allowed for a clear separation between the inside and outside seating areas. This separation was necessary as the live piano music was only present inside. We opted for inside seating and were not disappointed by the wonderful ambiance. The food at The Bombay Club was exceptional and offered great value. We highly recommend trying the Thali's which consist of multiple Indian curries, rice, and nan bread, all for under $30. My wife opted for the Samundari Thali, which included a Tandoori Salmon appetizer and shrimp and fish curries with spinach and yogurt. I ordered the Tandoori Salmon separately, as well as the Halibut Mappas with Multigrain Roots. The Tandoori Salmon was the standout dish, closely followed by the Halibut. The Multigrain roti was also a highlight, as it was healthy and had no traces of oil or ghee. Overall, our experience at The Bombay Club was fantastic, and we ended our meal with a cup of tea. We highly recommend this restaurant for dinner and would certainly visit again.
Be the first to ReplyMixed feelings about dinner
Mixed feelings regarding our dinner. Wine list was more for expense accounts than couple's dinners with most bottles in the $75-125+ range. Poor wine service with white wine glasses coming out hot and wine not chilled. Some dishes very creative with great taste - some over cooked. Perhaps the most perplexing issue was that we were overcharged $10 each for two of our entrees. With an automatic check billing system, most rarely check their bill to this level. No one could tell me how an automatic system enabled this to happen, nor did we get an apology.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food. Evil-eyed hostess.
The food was really tasty. We had the crispy kale, butternut squash samosa, chicken makhani, saag, naan, and desserts. The service was great. The only negative was the hostess. When I walked in, she looked straight at my shoes. Granted I had been enjoying the sunny day in sneakers, but I didn’t know it was a crime to wear them to dinner. Then I said was waiting for my husband. Instead of saying “take your time” or “no worries,” she just looked straight at me. When I left she gave me the evil eye. It was so bizarre. I never write reviews, but I’m doing it this time because I wonder if it’s just me or that’s how everyone who is beneath the hostess feels treated. For that reason I would not go back. But if you don’t care about a snobby hostess with an evil eye, then enjoy.
Be the first to ReplyFirst class Indian cuisine.
Great varieties of typical Indian cuisine. Excellent wines and great service. Very clean and attractive decor. Try everything family style.
Be the first to ReplySlightly dull food, good waitstaff, bad hostess
This restaurant used to be the most elegant Indian in DC...it's still handsome, but there are many better Indian restaurants in town now (Rania!) so this food seems ordinary. In addition, what kind of a hostess, with an entirely empty restaurant at 5 p.m., does not permit a couple to choose where to sit? We'll never be back.
Be the first to ReplyPushy waitstaff, small portions
This was a disappointment. Forget about the fact that the portions were small for plain ol' Indian food, but the constant pushiness of the waiter to add more to the order and to remind us that "no gratuity included, sir" at the end of the meal was not appreciated. That said, the maitre d' was friendly and welcoming and the desserts were good.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service, very nice ambiance, delicious meal
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner this weekend. The waitstaff and the hostess provided great service, the decor is lovely, and our meals and cocktails were top-notch.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time here in 35 years, nothing has changed
When my wife and I lived in downtown D.C. and visited the Mall a lot we came here regularly. Now we are in the burbs, rarely come downtown, but yesterday decided to relive old times. We were lucky - reservations had fully booked the place until 9:30 but we were there early enough (5 pm) for them to fit us in. In summary - this is the sort of restaurant the English who lived in India would have wanted. No Indian music but rather a pianist playing (actually jamming on) popular songs of the day. Meals that Indians would have wanted toned down to suit European tastes (with a couple of exceptions) but still quite tasty. Very attentive service, a maitre de who comes to the table to ask how the meal is, etc. Classy. Anyway, the same chef after those 35 years cooking the same way. Not at all spicy hot but tasty nonetheless. I had the mullugatawney soup as I always used to, the same (and probably the spicy hottest thing we had). Khubani duck well cooked (but rice with no sauce, that's boring). Chicken makhni, again tasty if mild. Chili garlic naan a nod to more modern times, always good. A happy evening, and we will be back again (with reservations) when the opportunity arises.
Be the first to ReplyHeyday gone, but still good
The outside patio was lovely, and overall the meal was enjoyable. But I couldn't help feeling sad that this icon/early leader of the DC food scene was suffering from some of the pandemic problems many restaurants are facing and had such inattentive service (didn't bring my drink before the appetizers, didn't bring the drink I actually ordered, never asked if we wanted more drinks or refills, etc.). I also wasn't 100% wowed by the food: Half the food we ordered was excellent, half was so-so (e.g., bitter eggplant, a one-note spicy tone in several items that drowned out flavor). I haven't been back to Rasika post-pandemic, but my inclination is to say to go there instead.

Great indian restaurant in DC. Apparently pres Clinton used to eat here!! Average food but service and ambience is great. Enjoyed the kale chaat- first time i tried it and have had it since elsewhere. Better at the bombay club. No complaints with the other starters or mains. Would visit again with the family.
Be the first to ReplyA great Indian Restaurant
Returned here after very fond memories of 8 years ago and the restaurant didn’t disappoint. The staff were friendly and attentive. Our table waiter Deepak was brilliant and ensured that we had everything we wanted and all was to our satisfaction. The food was really tasty and spicy, just how we like it. As UK citizens we have our fare share of Indian Restaurants and we have to say the The Bombay Club rates very well. We will be come back in a few days before we complete our holiday and return to England, that’s how good it was. The menu is reasonably wide ranging and whereas not cheap, we felt we had value for money.
Be the first to ReplyUnpleasant experience manager rude, not kid friendly place
Manager was rude, service was very slow, they wanted us to order asap as we got in although it took a longer time to get the food to the table, Olaf did not kids friendly especially if one has smaller kids, they give you “looks” and want you to finish dinner and get out ASAP if you have kids, would not go back again and would not recommend if you have kids, it was not a pleasure experience for the kids and as a family, food was average
Be the first to ReplyA delightful evening.
Delightful evening. Dinner was delicious and the service was perfect. Our waiter was attentive, helpful and helped us navigate the menu and some food allergies. The atmosphere is welcoming, comfortable and casually elegant. Really enjoyed the evening and highly recommend The Bombay Club.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful and delicious
Had the vegetarian thali. It was delicious and I love a variety. Service was excellent and flexible. Decor is beautiful. It's not your typical Indian restaurant

Perfectly spiced food in a cozy outdoor setting. Food, service and location were great. Great recommendations from our server.
Be the first to Reply~Seafood Thali~
wow!, what a lovely experience!…despite being made to feel we were under-dressed and stuck in the back corner, we enjoyed our dinner…the waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive…we followed her suggestions and shared the Seafood Thali- excellent!, we also got garlic naan to accompany and mulligatawny soup …we sampled mango cheesecake and a rich, chocolatey, fudgy cake for dessert…this was a beautiful, upscale Indian restaurant- we got a Lyft ride from the jw, only a couple miles…we recommend this restaurant and will eat her again when we return…our bill was around $100.00 and worth every penny…
