Wonderful!
Wonderful - you would not regret a visit! I have been taking my niece to festive afternoon tea for 13 years - and The Chinoiserie was the best yet! We started our tea tradition with the most obvious London hotels, and while each one has been very good, The Chinoiserie was by far the best. Truly wonderful on all levels. A key ingredient was Jaime who provided excellent insight into the festive tea and curated the whole experience as a wonderful story-teller. The food wasn't just delicious, but it was original, with each item having its own uniqueness (more than we have seen previously). The theme of nature, was well thought-out and executed. The setting was just special, and the tea-room intimate. Thank you for a wonderful festive treat!

Came with my best friend for an afternoon tea and I must say I was impressed by the amazing welcoming I received. Michele guided us through each course and recommended us the best teas. I’ve been to many places but I must say it was the warmest out of all, so thank you to the stuff and we will surely come back!

Be the first to ReplyIncredible High Tea
After a long day of shopping and sightseeing in London, we - an exhausted bunch - knew we wanted to relax over high tea. We were already at Cadogan Gardens, so we booked a reservation at The Chinoiserie. For the four of us, it was our first time having tea time in the UK, so we didn’t know what to expect. However, we were greeted with the warmest of welcomes, seated in a most comfortable setting, and served with delights second to none. The tea was heavenly, the fare even moreso. Andrea, Nicola, and Afnan provided a world-class experience, serving us with unforgettable tastes and conversations alike. High tea at The Chinoiserie is a memory I will cherish for a lifetime.
Be the first to ReplyMichele was the BEST
My mother and I came for afternoon tea and was welcomed by none other than Michele. He was super attentive throughout and impressively knowledgable! He made our afternoon tea quite the experience. If this was based on Michele alone, I would’ve given 10 stars without a second thought, however, the part we were most looking forward to (the scones) were too hard and dense. Overall, Impeccable service from Michele, nice food so I would recommend (unless you’re a scone lover - sorry!)

Since in London it is very easy to fall into the temptation of having an Afternoon Tea, we decided to try the new concept of The Chinoserie. Once you entered the Tea room, the atmosphere, the scent and the colors were totally relaxing. Created by Jessica Prealpato (one of the best pastry chefs in the world .. exciting !!), the menu is inspired by the botany and flora of the iconic Kew Gardens. It offers a wider experience than just eating sweets, in fact, not using sugars, every little flavor is enhanced. We really liked the chef's idea of the dishes on the spot and the friendliness of Andrea and his team made us appreciate every moment of our experience !! thank you very much, we will definitely be back!

We stopped by for some coffee and desserts and we were recommended the cheesecake by Antonello. It was great choice. Antonello was great and gave us great service. Definitely recommend the place 10/10. Would come back for sure.

My husband, son and I booked "A TRIBUTE TO NATURE AFTERNOON TEA. It is a great idea and concept. The savoury food was delicious as were the scones. We hardly had room for the sweets but they were so good to miss, looked beautiful and were delicious too. The manager, Andrea was very accommodating, professional and friendly as well as all the staff in the room. The service was top class. Every member of Staff, really went the extra mile. We were extremely impressed with the quality of the attentioned service, the tasty and so well presented foods and the beautifully detailed crockery pieces, which are very luxurious, especially made for the Chinoiserie lounge, and they are also, my husband's favourite brand. We can't wait to go back there again. Thank you to everyone for providing a very excellent and professional service, for taking the time to explain the different dishes and their pairings, and to the very talented chefs for the delicious, very tasteful foods and for their amazing colours and presentations . A massive Well done and a huge thank you from the three of us.

Our host for the afternoon tea was Nicola, very engaging and helpful individual. He is a great asset to the restaurant within the Carlton tower Jumeirah. Waiters were also excellent , so professional and so welcoming. I was a little disappointed though of the hidden charges of the non alcoholic drink (so Jennie) I was slightly confused as to why I was charged extra for it as it didn’t clarify that it was a separate charge to the afternoon tea. The Kew Gardens collaboration was exquisite and an unforgettable experience.

One of the finest Afternoon Tea experiences I’ve been to. Each dish is a masterpiece, with its own story. Only seasonal ingredients, no sugar (honey in few exaples). Created by World’s Best Pastry Chef, inspired by botanics and flora of Kew Gardens. The service is exceptional. Highly recommended!

Our experience was very nice! Great service and incredible tea. First time there and sure we will be back in our next visit to London.

Fantastic Afternoon Tea served as a 3 course meal with unique flavours and great presentation. Service was excellent and we were very comfortably seated. Great tea selection from Mariage Frères

Where to start with this Afternoon Tea? It is a full fine dining experience in itself - from the moment you enter the Chinoiserie, the staff are so informative and welcoming, explaining the full journey and thought process behind this experience. This is no ordinary Afternoon Tea - there are delicious starter courses before you are served your savoury selection, which is so far from your boring finger sandwiches. I especially loved the truffle and duck egg croissant - I could eat that all day! It's even a possibility as you can get served refills - but don't get too full up on the first course because there's then a palate cleanser before embarking on a FOUR scone experience menu! I never knew scones could be created in so many different varieties, but I don't want to spoil the flavours - you just have to try it for yourself! The cakes are served on a traditional three tiered stand alongside a caramel and milk mousse dessert - it is just all so wonderful! You get four varying patisserie pieces each which I thought might be too much but they are so light you can really enjoy them. If you are too full, the staff are really lovely about packing away the remaining food for you to enjoy at home - and you receive the sweetest gift too. It is honestly a mind blowing experience - what more could you want from an Afternoon Tea!?
Be the first to ReplyAfternoon Tea, definitely!
On a greyish London Sunday afternoon, my son and I had afternoon tea here. It certainly made our day! From being greeted at the door warmly and heading towards The Chinoiserie. We were ushered to our beautiful table (they use Raynaud cutleries - so beautiful!) by a lovely lady.
We truly enjoyed our experience. Tea selection were from Mariage Freres. If you don’t drink tea, there are herbal ones to choose from and even coffee! The sandwiches were amazing. They were moist and filled just enough. The onion tart was freshly baked and the buttery crust is delicious! You can tell they were freshly prepared! The scones were also unforgettable, served warm straight out from the oven with clotted cream sprinkled with cinnamon powder and the super decadent Marco Polo Jelly jam. The cakes were the right size and presented in an attractive cage-tower. Lovely! Special mention to Anwar who was a great host, making sure we had enough to eat and drink. Overall I highly recommend The Chinoiserie’s afternoon tea!
A fantastic experience!
A fantastic and memorable experience as always!
A huge thank you to the entire team for their hospitality which included Monika, Andrea, Jaime and everyone else that looked after me and my guests. The Jumeriah Carlton Tower hotel and The Chinoiserie has been 'home from home' since 2002 and will always be a special place for me
AVOID!
My husband, 8-year-old daughter and I booked the festive afternoon tea last Saturday 18th December. The cost was £65 each including for my daughter – total £195. We were super excited because we trust the Jumeirah brand to deliver a great experience – this is trust that we have built up from attending and residing at their properties in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The entrance to the hotel and restaurant had a festive feel and looked quite nice. However, the experience mostly went downhill after that.
Key points on our afternoon tea:
- The bread was stale for most of the sandwiches - my husband questioned the staff whether the bread had been toasted which it hadn’t and therefore stale.
- The truffle on the “Burford brown egg, chives, winter black truffle & white bread” sandwich was missing.
- The bread for the “H. Forman & Son smoked salmon, pink peppercorn, dill, cream cheese & rye bread” sandwich was very cold and hard as though the bread itself had been stored in the fridge for ‘hours’ beforehand.
- The “Cambridge shire roast turkey with homemade veal, sage, chestnut, cranberry & granary bread” sandwich was very bland with dry meats. The cranberry did not save this one from a disaster.
- The “Onion fondant, goat cheese, watercress & savory tart” is given hot and tasted nice.
- The sponges on all the cakes from the platter were dry.
- The festive spices were overpowering and overwhelming on all the desserts. You simply don’t know what you’re tasting most of the time.
- The ‘plain’ scones with the jam and clotted cream tasted fresh and were nice.
For a 5* hotel, in particular the Jumeirah brand, to serve stale bread and dry cake is an embarrassment. This afternoon does not cater for children either.
This experience simply had no attention to detail. £65 per head is not worth it. Bottled water and coffee is an extra cost. There was no attention to detail in our afternoon tea – there is a lot better out there!
Excellent service and food
My wife and I came to the Chinoiserie to celebrate it being three months since our wedding day in the Carlton Tower Jumeirah. We had the afternoon tea there, which was excellent quality from the sandwiches to the cakes, scones and huge selection of teas. In addition, the service from all the staff - especially Antonello - was exceptional. Highly recommend, and would definitely come again.

Visited The Chinoiserie for an evening snack and drinks. It was just what I wanted, great quality food, excellent service and beautiful décor. I'll definitely visit again.
Be the first to ReplyBest Anniversary Treat - Highly Recommended!
My boyfriend and I decided to treat ourselves on our third anniversary and we couldn't have chosen a better place.
The whole experience was fantastic from the minute we stepped into the hotel. Warm welcome, very friendly and skilled staff who looked after us throughout the night.
The wagyu beef as a starter was just superb, followed by the fregola lobster, everything accompanied by a delicious Chablis.
To conclude, a great selection of desserts and spirits made our night just perfect!
Overall a sublime experience that we can't wait to repeat.
Disappointing would be a gross understatement
£169 for 2 plates of smoked salmon, 2 badly made, very greasy Croque Monsieurs consisting of 2, 2" x 3" pieces of toasted sourdough, a slice of ham and melted cheese one of which had grated truffle on top, 2 glasses of mediocre Champagne and a diet coke finishing with 2 espresso coffees. Save your money, go to Scotts, have a proper 3 course meal also with Champagne etc for £20 less.
The property is meant to be Jumeirah's London flagship and while they've had the good grace to leave what was one of the prettiest hotel coffee shops in the UK almost intact the service and food languish around the 3 star level. Let's hope things improve as, after the very expensive closure and two year refit, the new staff and kitchen get more practice. Currently: Best avoided I'm afraid.
Best English tea experience in London
Visited with my friend and felt in love with everything: starting from the interior and finishing with the outstanding service.
Tea range is incredible, the waiter helped us pick the ones that we would enjoy the most, we tried 2 or 3 each. The food is delicious, especially the secret recipe jam that comes with the scones.
Definitely recommend to have a glass of champagne with everything.
