Let's start with the service: attentive, courteous, efficient, it is very close to a Michelin star level in my book. The ambiance is cosy, quiet. No show off there nor high pitch voices. We are in an upscale environment meant to enjoy the food and the company. The food is very creative, difficult to not see the sharing with OKO. A great experience overall. Because the bar is high, I would mention the red snapper crudo whose taste was overwhelmed by the orange and the spices. A delicious appetizer but somewhat frustrating. The pastas are really interesting, and offer a different experience. For coffee lovers, the crรจme brรปlรฉe is a must.My only disappointment was with the wine list. Red wines are $100 and up, the mark up seems a little steep to my liking. The whites offer decent alternatives.A great experience overall, and definitely on the top of my list in the area.

It has been a couple of years since I reviewed the Cottage and I thought I should update it. This place seems to be the spot everyone in the family wants to go when we have a celebration dinner or a special night. I really love the outdoor tent they put up during Covid. The main restaurant is small and the tables are tightly packed. Outside is roomy and comfortable. But the best seat if you can get it is still the bar in front of the kitchen. You get to watch all the action and the making of each dish. The menu changes but they keep some of the all star dishes like the steamed buns (fabulous) and the duck fried rice (a special dish) and the Sunday is huge. Remember I said this is our celebration dinner spot. It is an experience and it is worth the money. Try new things here!

I've heard so many good things about this restaurant and we were in the area so I had to give it a try. In summary, it did not disappoint and I can definitely see why it gets the rave reviews that it does. It's a tucked away location right in the center of Westport which makes it feel busy but homey at the same time. Upon arrival, the door was opened for us by the host and we were very politely seated immediately, even without a reservation luckily. The drinks and food were all a beautiful melding of flavors. The spicy squid & pork belly was the starter we chose and it was served with lettuce wraps. Not something you'd find everyday in my opinion and very enjoyable. The two dinners again were absolutely delicious. The staff was all very inviting and on top of everything as well. Very good experience and food! Love it and I will continue on spreading the hype that it has.
Be the first to ReplyPossibly the best restaurant in Westport.
Delicious food from a smart nouveau-American menu and lovely, romantic ambiance. Despite that, I have some negatives, mostly on service....we got stuck with a b**chy, detached, inattentive young waitress who clearly didn't seem like she wanted to be there. However, I'm certain her performance isn't indicative of the staff and management norms. The other negative is price. I don't mind expensive, but I do object to overpriced. And The Cottage is overpriced. Still, I hope to return for perhaps a better experience.

Wow, wow, wow! What a pleasant surprise! We've been to the sister restaurant Oko in Rye, and we decided to see if they could accommodate us on a whim, as we were driving by tonight. All staff, from start to finish were wonderful! And the food, superb! The sourdough toast with beets, and ricotta, the scallops, the trout wrapped in bacon, and the dark chocolate pot de crรจme were phenomenal! We will definitely be returning! And it shall be soon!!

Rude waitress, that slams the plates with a poker face, even more rude cow-boyish manager. The spaghetti with "anchovies" (I use quotation marks because there were no anchovies in the pasta whatsoever) was just horrible, flavorless, unsalted, plain with almost no cheese in it. Btw, we waited for ONE HOUR to get our terrible pastas. The so called cozy room itself was very smelly (like on old church with lots of old candles). Very rural feel. This place can be an excellent "fine dining" choice only for people who have not really traveled or who are content with anything that's not Applebee's

Finally! This is the restaurant that Westport needs! Westport food at Westport prices! Like the trophy wives of the Stepford millionaires, the food looks pretty, even though it may not have much substance! You can get carby food like the fried rice and feel like a champion for leaving it over, picking out the lobster, which is the only part of it that tastes good! Or, you can get four scallops for around $40 and not feel bad that you're killing more seafood by wishing there were more, since it only tastes of salt! Or, indulge yourself in one of their eight (8) cocktail choices, including rum/pineapple and (if you're feeling daring), a Smokey Negroni - there's something for everyone (even Chad, Fletcher, and Hadley, who's notoriously hard to please)! Best of all, you'll spend enough to really impress the hedge fund manager and seal that deal, without threatening them with something too formal or weird! Remember: Always Be Closing!
Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I had dinner this week on the outdoor patio.
Wonderful experience. Food and service among the best we have had in the area . Several appetizers shared. Mains were Sweet Corn Tortellini and Bay Sea Scallops. Cooked to perfection. Even when the patio was full noise level was not a problem as in many other locations. Highly recommended.

Very sophisticated and delightful evening outside with delicious food and excellent service. Only surprise was the lack of GF options with for example the fois gras. And other menu options.
Be the first to ReplyThe Cottage was recommended to us by a couple of Westport
The Cottage was recommended to us by a couple of Westport locals for brunch but sadly our experience there was a big let-down. The interior of the restaurant was quaint yet the space was quite small. Tables are set very close to each other and we could hear the neighboring group's conversation the whole time. We ordered the duck confit hash and lobster egg benedict. 30min later, our hash finally came out but went to the table next to us. The other customer poked the egg on the duck confit, realized it wasn't theirs, and asked the waitress to take it back. 3 minutes later, the same bowl with the poked egg was served to us. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! For the price point and the kind of fine dining experience the Cottage team is trying to identify themselves with, I will pass.
