I would have given this place 4 to 5 stars but the service was the pits. We got there about 2:45, and after looking at the dinner menu, we decided to go with the lunch menus. When I asked for the lunch menus, a waitress said, sorry, it's passed lunch. Come to find out, the hostess gave me the lunch menus, since we were there prior to dinner, this is just the beginning, that was our waitress and she had attitude. Food was excellent, but the service lacked, there were just too many snide remarks from our waitress to even list. My sister paid cash since she had a larger family then we did, was asked "how much change" did she want, she said all of it but was still shorted. Again, Food excellent, service the pits, there are too many restaurants to put up with that type of BS, I wanted to cancel our order and walk out, the other 11 people voted to stay. My wife and I are from Dallas, this type of attitude would not be tolerated. Kevin C

Soup sampler is a must and clams casino. My favorite entree is the stuffed shrimp. Friendly staff and inviting atmosphere. Bonus is bar out back. Crabby Jack's is a fun spot to have a bite or cocktail while you wait for a table.

I just ate here tonight with my wife and I must say that this was the best , and freshest seafood that we have both ever had. Being our first time you are always a little skeptical about some of the reviews. From the excellent service from our waiter Adam, to multiple employees saying good night, you couldn't have received any better service. Both of our dishes were so plentiful with delicious seafood, that we needed boxes for our leftovers. We are already looking forward to returning!
Be the first to ReplyThe best time during the week to go here is after 7:30.
It's still very crowded and surprisingly mostly an older crowd. No wait. Our waitress apologized for not taking our drink order immediately. She had a few large tables. The seafood here is just great. The soups are pretty tasty, too. The fried shrimp are the best around. I miss the crackers and horseradish on the table. The breadbasket has some muffins in it. All in all, a pretty good meal without that long wait!
Be the first to ReplyWent to the Crab Trap for my bday dinner the other night.
.. n was extremely disappointed! We were seated right away... but, then it took the waitress, Guer 15 minutes to approach the table! Another 10 mins to get our drinks!! Sooo we preceded to order our dinner.... Salad was Xcellent, fresh n crisp. Appetizers Fried Clam Strips n Clams Casino were Xcellent! Then our dinners came n boy ohhh boy what a disappointment! My husband got the Rib n Tails.. the meat wasn't even WARM. I got the 2 lb Lobster ... as soon as she put it in front of me ... I knew this wasn't gonna be good! The Lobster was Mush.... Obviously, DEAD when they cut it open to Broil!! No waitress to b found.. went to Hostess desk... woman came back took our meals... Prime rib came back fairly quickly... but, the different dish I ordered was taking a while... sooo I was forced to take it home!! No one came back to check on us... offer a drink on the house... nothing!! Hostess ignored on the way out.... Very DISAPPOINTING! Happy bday to me Needless to say we won't b going back!!!

Considering that my wife and I are locals and can choose to eat here as often as we like, still The Crab Trap never disappoints. The food is great and although I frequently get the same meal (Bos 'N Mate) it's consistently a fine meal. From the bread to start the meal to the ambience and the servers, we enjoy the Trap every time.

This might be one of the best seafood I went to as a child andas an adult The service was kind and sometimes likes to have a conversation with the customers I ordered Lobster bites as an appetizer and I ordered 2 plates of them, 10/10 Then I ordered crab cakes with tartar sauce and they had NO TINY ANNOYING SHELLS inside them, and they were Mouthwatering, 9/10 Then I ordered a desert as well. After I ate everything, I ordered the Oreo Ice cream Tower, and when I got full I ate the whole thing over the effort into the dessert, the ice cream with it, the crushed oreos, the whipped cream, I don't even care if I'm full, im still eating the rest because I hate wasting food. 10/10 I RECOMMEND GOING HERE EVERY WEEK/DAY. 9.7/10

No idea how this place stays so busy - it must be the blue hairs coming because of tradition.Standard mass cooked seafood and steaks. Expect a few hour wait while locals breeze by you waiting outside. Crab cakes are mostly mayo, and the sides are pretty normal for a steakhouse. What's really off is the service - our waitstaff was pretty terrible and insulting. As we were still waiting for initial drinks, our staff took about 20 minutes with the table just seated next to us gabbing about how she's a Republican, and how millennials can't write checks, and that generation can't figure out a mortgage, on and on. Obviously forgetting the very well paid millennials who own several vacation homes at the table 3 feet away.Took another half hour to finally get our check. Boomers, check your privilege at the door.
Be the first to ReplyStart off , food was excellent.
Service not so much, so ruined my meal. We ordered drinks and I asked for service setting for my grandson . My friends drink comes with the bread . Waiter comes back I asked if they forgot the rum in the drink , and can I please get a service setting for my grandson and bread plates . At this point the bread is cold . Brings out 2 plates and 3 silverware settings . Had to ask for refills on my water and his mixed drink , but my grandson got soda refills with out asking . Then our food comes , I asked about our salads, he goes oh did I not bring them . So he goes back and brings them out. So we have our dinner and salads together. Sitting there no where near done and he ask if we want dessert and or coffee ? At this point I just said no and was done. I felt so rushed . The food itself was very good , had I had time to totally enjoy it . I stopped at McDonald's and got a coffee and a McFlurry
Be the first to ReplyWe just ate there on Feb 22 2023.
We jumped in the car and drove 110 miles,2 hrs, to have lunch there. We had steamed clams and used the hot rolls to soak up every drop of juice. The wife had crab imperial and I had flounder stuffed with crab. It was fantastic. Our server Diane was very helpful especially with my wife's gluten free options.Took our time, left full and headed home. Was it worth the 2 hour drive...every inch. Can't wait to go again.

I had a gift card and I looked forward to checking this restaurant out. We arrived during dinner special time. We tried the soup, I had French onion. It was delicious, rich and lots of cheese. My sister had the crab bisque, it was so creamy and full of crab. We also tried the clams, so good! Also ordered wine. We ordered dinner. I had the Boston combo, fried shrimp, scallops, flounder and fish cake. We also ordered the shrimp scampi. We were both filled from appetizers and soup. Salad, Bread and entrée were ultimately boxed to go. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Good overall experience. We will return soon.
