The Dover London Reviews
Friendly, clean and comfortable.
Booked for one night to allow us to attend a concert in London. This was one of the few hotels locally which allowed me to book a twin bedded room. We also needed to have a ground floor room as my partner is an ambulant wheelchair user and cannot climb stairs. This was confirmed prior to us booking. The hotel is not particularly adapted to wheelchair use and has a stepped entrance, but for us it was fine. Staff were very friendly and helpful including storing our wheelchair when not in use. We had a very small room (for those who cruise, it reminded me of an inside cabin), but it was perfectly adequate to our needs and was very warm and clean. We would be very happy to stay here again in similar circumstances.
Excellent for a 2 Star Hotel!!
This hotel is so close to Victoria Station. From the reviews, we knew the rooms were small but they were so clean with a modern shower room. There was a kettle with tea and coffee, the beds were crisp, clean and comfortable. There was a hairdryer and fan. It was just what we needed for one night. We knew there was not a lot of choice for breakfast but we were happy with what we had and popped to Spoons after checking out. The staff were lovely!!! Thank you for making our stay so comfortable!!!
Excellent customer service, great location.
I booked this hotel for a family trip for my daughter's birthday, but w ithout realising I booked the hotel for August 2026, when I meant to book August 2025. Sajad called me personally and messaged to let me know and transferred my booking to last week. I was so grateful to him and the rest of the staff for sorting out my mistake. The hotel is very centrally located five minutes walk from the Apollo Theatre, Victoria train station and the underground. There are many lovely cafes, shops and restaurant close by. You feel safer than many other parts of London walking around. The beds are really comfy in the family room, breakfast was a surprise bonus for the price we paid. The hotel is dated in parts, but staff told me it would be updated in the near future. The staff are all very helpful and friendly and for the great location and price paid, we would go back again.
Great customer service
A huge thank you to Touqeer at the front desk for helping us thru a booking mishap, great customer service and made our first night in London a success. There were also a few nice bakeries and bars in the area that made grabbing breakfast and a pint easy.
The Honest Pros and Cons (and DON'T PAY IN DOLLARS!!!!!)
We stayed in this hotel in early July 2025 for four nights. I'll try and give an honest review of the pros and cons of staying at this hotel. Pros- Economical for London (we ended up paying about $200 a night- I think you can get it cheaper on hotel deal sites). Relatively close to Victoria Station. Decent beds. Good shower. Cons- We were given a room on the second floor- they don't have an elevator so it was a royal pain hauling 50 pound luggage up the narrow staircase. It was 90 degrees the days we were in London and the hotel DOES NOT have air conditioning (our room did have a fan) so it was sweltering at times in the room and difficult to sleep. The room was for three people but it was so small that with our luggage it was incredibly difficult to maneuver around the room- too small. They only provide hand soap- no shampoo- we had to go buy shampoo. They empty garbage every day but they DO NOT make your beds, etc. during your stay. The breakfast was free but extremely limited to three types of cereal and white toast (yes- that's it). THE MOST DISTURBING PART OF THE STAY, however was when the front desk asked if I wanted to pay in Pounds or Dollars. I said dollars- (big mistake). DON'T PAY IN DOLLARS because they adjust the exchange rate from 1.33 to 1.54, which means that they pocket an extra $21 dollars for every 100 pounds you spend- so for our 4 nights which were roughly 600 pounds, the stay would have cost us an extra $120 compared to if we had paid in pounds- and they'd pocket that extra $120 dollars. I think this issooooooo SHADY. Luckily, we caught it after paying the first night and told them to charge the rest in pounds, not dollars. This type of activity just casts a whole shady aura over the hotel and our entire stay with them.
Lovely Budget Hotel
I have stayed at the Dover Hotel twice and it would be my choice if Iโm visiting again; the location is ideal as 10-15 minutes walk to Victoria station making travelling around London easy. Plus bus stops located nearby. The hotel is small the rooms are cosy and clean, tea/coffee supplied. Just have to remember shower gel etc for the shower though there is a bar of soap provided. The breakfast room is located down in the basement, it is strange looking out of the window to see people passing by above you! Breakfast consists of a choice of cereals plus toast/jams, etc and a variety of yoghurts. Plenty of tea & coffee. If you require anything the staff are accommodating. In addition to this gem is the staff on Reception as very friendly & helpful. Especially the guy (I didnโt get his name) that was on duty Friday 9th May 2025.
Small but good
Friendly and helpful staff at reception. Rooms were small however well clean, had a working TV to watch and Wi-Fi access Bathroom was relatively small so had some difficulty in moving around with positioning myself weirdly to use the restroom. Breakfast was served downstairs however did not check it out during the stay
Great location for appolo theatre, basic room and breakfast
Basic small hotel ,clean and tidy room.but the bed I felt as though I was going to fall out as the matress was on a slant somehow? Had room no 7 very quiet great location for our trip to see wicked which was a 5 minute walk from here.checked the room service and saw full English but didn't realise this was from elsewhere.so we headed down to breakfast and it was just basic cheap cereals and toast no offer of anything else but as we had lunch booked for 12noon it didn't really matter but a heads up on what's included for breakfast wouldn't go a miss.
Dirty under sheet
The Hotel looked ok small but in a very good area with some lovely Restaurants around the corner, who do a lovely breakfast also. Dropped our bags in the room and went out straight away to make the most of a one night stay. It was in the morning woke up and my sheet had come off the under sheet was absolutely disgusting stains all over it, black hair and what looked like blood stains. Wondered why I woke up all itchy quick shower and we left my daughter and i didn't even want breakfast as we felt disgusted at the state of the bed sheet. Please check your beds and pillows before you get into bed. Emailed and asked for some compensation but no unfortunately not. Great shame as the Hotel is in such a great location. The staff were friendly and polite. If they sort this problem out it would be a lovely little hotel to stay at. No noise in the room and everything you need for a short stay.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to The Dover London at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the The Dover London page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FulfilledThread16, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FulfilledThread16 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FulfilledThread16 for any questions Peter may have as FulfilledThread16 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FulfilledThread16 now uses their connections at The Dover London to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FulfilledThread16 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FulfilledThread16 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FulfilledThread16's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at The Dover London!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
