🤮 1/5 - Xenophobic Experience

We came here to enjoy bottomless mimosas for a friend's 23rd birthday on Saturday (It was a party of 20). One person in our party is from out of the country and his International ID was declined by the security and our friend was told it would not be accepted. He also showed a photo of his passport and they also said that would not be accepted and he would not be allowed to drink. So we all sat down at our table and everyone was confused why a person who was of legal drinking age would not be allowed to drink, after providing government issued proof of their age. We asked our waiter (who was very kind) if there was anything he could do to help our friend, and he responded "yes of course, I'll see what I can do." Our waiter left and then the security and manager came back over to our table and told our friend he had to leave. He asked if he could go all the way home, grab his passport and then come back if that would solve the problem and they said "nope, you have to leave right now." They said he was being kicked out and refused to serve him any food. Our friend then had to call an uber and was standing up right next to our table (which was outside and on a public sidewalk) to wait for his uber. The security then came over and told him he was not allowed to stand there and forced him to walk further down the street away from the restaurant (despite it being a public sidewalk where he was standing). After this, all of us in the party made a gigantic fuss and we're reasonably extremely upset and the supposed "owner" was seen standing at the hostess stand laughing and staring at all of us. It was extremely disrespectful, xenophobic, discriminatory behavior that I have never before experienced at a restaurant in San Diego. WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMEND.
