Pork cheek stood out for its rich flavor
After sampling a variety of dishes including mini beef Wellington, dim sum, fish and chips, pork cheek, cream pasta, and dessert, I found the classic Western cuisine to be particularly impressive. The pork cheek stood out for its tender texture and rich flavor, complemented by well-prepared side vegetables. The mini beef Wellington showcased a delightful flakiness in its pastry, adding to its appeal. However, while the dim sum offered a decent selection, there is room for improvement in its dim sum pricing and the flavor of it.

Delighted to find this little gem! In Singapore for one night following a cruise. Marco Pierre White has opened this restaurant with rooms, which is a short journey from the City centre. We used the MRT from Esplanade to Fort Canning (change at Promenade) and then had a 5-10 minute walk to the restaurant. It was well worth it. We both had the fish and chips (accompanied with mushy peas and tartare sauce) which were cooked to perfection. We also had 3 beers, a couple of white wines and a bottle of still water. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. They made us very welcome. The restaurant interior is full of Terry O'Neill photos, JAK cartoons and a quirky collection of other items. A very enjoyable visit.

There was such a bag of mixed reviews for this restaurant that I booked with not a little trepidation! I went with my son to celebrate his birthday and indicated it in my reservation. I wanted the occasion to be a happy one obviously. All my fears were totally unwarranted as the food was great and service excellent. We asked our server about portions and she was bang on about what we needed to order! She also caveated that as the food was cooked to order there is a wait time of about 20 minutes. We ordered the fish and chips and the braised beef cheeks. Fish was fresh and batter coating crispy and just the right thickness. It was served with triple cooked chips which were light and crispy and mushy peas. The only comment on my dish was it could do with a little more salt for some I think. I was fine with my dish as I tend to eat less salt but some may find it slightly under-salted but something that could be easily remedied with a salt shaker. My son loved the beef cheek which was so tender it almost melted in the mouth. he had 3 substantial pieces of the cheek and a huge amount of vegetables and he was properly stuffed when he finished. He gamely ordered the tiramisu and we were surprised that he was given a complimentary chocolate mousse to commemorate his birthday! I expected that in ordering the tiramisu they would put a candle on it and a chocolate birthday plaque (which many other restaurants do). So we stuffed ourselves with both the mousse and the tiramisu. YUMMY! Mousse is worth the calories as it used very dark chocolate and good quality one at that. We both like our tiramisu more boozy than what was prepared but again that is personal preference! Overall, a great dining experience! Many thanks to the staff and restaurant who made our dining experience special. The restaurant's decor is incredibly beautiful and quirky. Very Instagram worthy! I will definitely go back again and my son is already planning his next visit!

Good food, great price with high-quality ingredients. Due to the popularity of their tiramisu it was sold out but they upgraded it to the apple crumble and it was amazing. Worth the visit and definitely will visit again. Spent less than $80 for bruschetta ham, mushroom soup, vegetable dumpling, apple crumble and a premium ribeye steak. You won't find a deal as good as this anywhere else!

The wild cod fish cakes, Lobster Linguine, Tiramisu, and mini red bean sesame balls were delicious. Service was good. We will be back to try the CNY menu.

Our first Christmas Dinner (Lunch) with our 17 day old grandson. The staff had thoughtfully placed us in an area where there were other young children and babies: so nobody minded if there was the odd scream or squawk. Have had quite a few restaurant Christmas Dinners, and they've often been very ordinary, but this was the best I've had and beat expectations. The amuse-bouche and starters were tasty and generally local/fusion in style. The main course had all you'd expect from a Christmas dinner and the pudding was excellent. The wine list was eclectic and have to applaud the inflation beater wine we ordered to have with our first courses. At only SGD40 it was a pleasant surprise and the restaurant should be applauded for that. Had a good red from St Chinian with the main which was also appreciated. Service was good: in all a near-perfect occasion.

We have been to The English House to each family member's birthday and have enjoyed ourselves on each occasion. It's definitely the beef wellington for someone in our party each time - simply delicious! I think they may be less generous with their portion sizes than before but that is hardly surprising given the current financial climate. We still left the restaurants with a full tummies and will be back again in the not too distant future!

Let us share our "The English House" experience. Ambiance; In singapore, everything is fast, yet you can feel the calm and relaxing ambiance "The English House" can offer in middle of busy and bustling place of fort Canning, in which having a good food in a relaxing place will give you a wonderfull moment to remember . Food; As for the food, you will have a mouth watering experience of blend culture of british and penang cuisine, you have to try the LONDON CRISPY AROMATIC ENGLISH DUCK, a special dish of well roasted london duck that melts in your mouth, serve with a homemade pancake, paired with scallion and cucumber with a special sauce, it is something worth of trying that is the no. 1 for me. Also we try the TASTY MENU 88, a plate serve with a 3 kinds of meat Stoddart Fillet Mignon, Pork Belly, and Organic Chicken in 1.. and sauce and bread in the side.. Worth trying for only 88sgd... if you dont want meat try their BEER BATTERED WILD COD , (fish and chips )๐ค my god mother loves it, and the fries wow its big. We tried the Moctails which is the ROSEMARIE BLUEBERRY SMASH ๐ค and worth to try specially for the ladies... Thank you for all the staff who assisted us, eating in this restaurant is the best fine dining ive tried.... I will visit here again when Im back to singapore...

Even though many view The English House as an English establishment, the Cantonese Cusine that they serve can be something they can be proud of as well. I've been to many Chinese restaurants in England and Singapore and none of them can hold a candle to The English House. The quality of individual ingredients in each dish can be tasted. They put most established Chinese restaurants to shame. I had the Crispy London Duck and I can say it's far better than Four Seasons in Chinatown or any other restaurant for the matter. Moist and succulent, not dry. Very happy to find this dish in Singapore as it's probably the only place which sells them. The Dim Sum is finely executed where you can taste the craftsmanship of the thin dumpling skins which is hard to achieve, fresh prawns, meat and seafood and the seasonings used. Friendly service staff, reasonable pricing for the quality you are getting, delicious food. What more can you ask for?

The taste and flavour of the duck is far more superior than in London. The homemade pancake was sensational definitely not off the shelf. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I suppose is the skill of the chef and the quality of the duck. Personally, I prefer this than Peking Duck. It's more sophisticated. Absolutely a delight and very pleased we've tried it. Kudos to the chef.

The food is tolerable I suppose, but not remarkable enough to tempt me to return. The price point isnโt commensurate to the quality - there are better beef Wellingtons to be had on the island, and $38 for a salad consisting of some salad leaves and diced avocado tossed cursorily in vinaigrette is not it. Is the food bad? No. Is the worth the money? Also no.

We went to The English House for Valentine's, where their 3-course set meal was going for $88 per person - which was pretty reasonable, since a lot of other restaurants have their Vday sets at a much higher price. All the food was done well and we both loved the Pan Seared Cod with Lemon Butter Sauce. Heart Shaped Chocolate Mousse was dense enough without being overpowering. Everything was great! Service was immaculate and on point. Our server was very frindly, he went the mile by taking lots of lovely photos for us. On top of that ladies got a lovely complimentary fresh pink rose. The ambience wasn't the most romantic as it was a casual setting with many tables packed in, but that was easy for us to overlook because of the affordability and quality of food. Well done English House!

The dimsum starters were amazing and Sunday roast as usual was ๐ฏ. I also want to say special thanks for putting together the Yorkshire puddings and all the trimmings for us despite it being a Wednesday, as well as the champagne and cakes. We will be back in a heartbeat!

I'm a frequent patron of The English House 3 times a week in average. I just want the team to know you have done an amazing job looking after the customers and delivering top notch food.
It's sad to see people giving negative reviews but that's ok. Be confident with your food and service because they are excellent.
Marco will be proud of the achievements in this very demanding market.
The Sunday Roast and cantonese dishes on Sunday are sensational keeping the fundamental of classical food which is hot and delicious.

Great Experience
l wish I could give this place 10 stars!! What delicious food and warm hospitality from all the staff. We ordered dimsum and sausage rolls as starter which were so so delicious.
Our mains were nothing short of amazing. Roast lamb was so tender, succulent and filled with gamey flavour. The accompaniments that came with it were full of flavour. I especially love the yorkshire pudding. My mom and dad having Fish and Chips, they both love it. So far the best Fish & Chips in Singapore.
Overall we really enjoyed this place. The lovely ambience, interior decoration was amazing. A definite hidden gem!

This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and coo. Owner of the restaurant spend good effort in decorating the restaurant and it look like a museum. the staff is also really friendly. and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Food is very awesome , some English classics and surprisingly hongkong classic food can be found in it and for their prices itโs 100% worth it.

340 for 2 x cold roast lamb which took 1.5 hours to bring out plus wine ! Maybe worth 25 quid pp . Terrible experience, even for sg . Wine list is very limited. But it should be said is a nice looking venue
