Food was nice but disappointing service.
The food was very nice here for a Sunday lunch but when we arrived we weren’t very well greeted and I didn’t particularly feel very welcome. Our food orders were not taken until after 45 minutes, and then each course took 1 hour to come. It was very disappointing, no water was offered for the table and no one came to check the food was ok during the meal. It’s a real pity as the food was actually quite nice but the service let the whole show down unfortunately and it isn’t an experience I would like to visit any time soon.

We popped in for a quick coffee & found a beautiful garden bathed in sunshine complete with a vine full of grapes & pretty flowers. A lovely friendly waitress served us coffee & wine. So pleased to have found such a wonderful courtyard garden. We will definitely be back for brunch very soon. Menu has a great selection of meat & vegetarian dishes.

Went to sit in the courtyard for brunch. Fab food and excellent service. Very pretty and quiet courtyard. We will be back and thoroughly recommend. Addington Street is a lovely little street being refurbed and off the Main Street running down to the harbour.

I’m not usually one to write a negative review but with how awful the service was I received Saturday for my sisters birthday breakfast I feel the need! After waiting 30 minutes for our coffee, our breakfasts arrived - the vegan breakfast, was not vegan - so was sent back, the second breakfast to arrive - was not vegan!!! When questioned the reply we received was its vegetarian breakfast, the breakfast had egg on, vegans don’t eat eggs! We sent back again and told them not to bother and was told we wouldn’t be charged for her breakfast. I should think not when she didn’t even pick up her knife and fork to eat it. Surly an establishment such as this knows the difference between vegan and vegetarian??? It took an hour and 40 mins for a cup of coffee and a roll. When going to pay the miserable sour faced lady who my mum asked for the bill looked at my mum like a piece of c*** at the bottom of her shoe! I just wish my mum would of told me at the time as the breakfast would not of been paid for at all!!! We saw one lady walk out when we first got there just a shame we didn’t leave with her. Complete and utter waste of the morning. Had we been apologised and not spoken to like we were a burden being there then I wouldn’t of felt the need to write this but as I work in the same industry, i feel you need to train your staff to not be so rude and unwelcoming. Certainly won’t be coming back here again which is a shame as we’ve been for a few lovely afternoon tea previously.

Discovered whilst ambling around the backstreets, absorbing the quaint and varied architectural features of old Ramsgate... This area of the town appears to be experiencing a subtle regeneration (hopefully a well-balanced one!) which should do justice to the historic harbour area and seafront and encourage more investment to the town. The Falstaff has a take-away frontage but we chose to take the family for a sit-down lunch and sometimes pop in for a coffee and snack. The interior is cosily characterful and very clean (with a small courtyard garden to the rear): coffee is always good and hot and served in cheery cups by polite, efficient staff. There are gf and vegan options. COVID regulations are reassuringly adhered to and the toilet is always clean We haven’t stayed here but have observed several happy guests checking out! The hotel management seems most efficient. In fact, we almost wish we lived further away in order to come and stay!

It's rare I post a review on trip advisor. Most people seem to use TTrip Advisor to moan about somewhere they went and didn't like or actually threaten a place with a bad review to try to get either a free meal or a heavily discounted one (sad but let's be honest....true} ANYWAY, I only tend to post a review on somewhere if I believe it to be exceptional and this makes the grade. I grew up round here and many many years ago, this place was a run down seedy sort of pub. Now it's a fabulous Boutique Hotel and Restuarant/Cafe and the short version from me is just "WOW!" I'm fully aware of what the hospitality sector is going through at the moment as my wife works within it so naturally when we both get the chance to go out (which isn't often enough) she is a fierce critic and spots every detail because it's what she does herself. I on the other hand just say what I think! So........ given the Covid-19 stuff, this place had a great one way system which is not difficult to follow although I'm sure someone will try! Tables and chair are socially distanced both inside and out in the garden with nice polite signs asking not to move furniture as it's been placed for optimum social distancing. The staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. This is always a bit part of anywhere I visit if I'm honest So on to the food and drink.............. We were recommended by a friend to come here and have breakfast. The coffee was amazing (apparently a local blend from Canterbury but I can't remember the name) and had a great taste to it. Nice and strong and not wishy washy Then on to Breakfast................ I went for the simple and humble Bacon & Egg Sandwich which you could have on a choice of breads. Not stingy with the bacon and the bread was lightly toasted. My wife had the Plymouth Rock which basically makes a Macdonalds Sausage McMuffin look positively anemic (see the picture I've posted) and she loved every bite of it! We also liked that we were supplied with a nice ice cold bottle of water too (I presume tap water) which was a nice touch and worthy of mentioning as not many places do this and personally, I love it! All in all, our experience was one of great enjoyment, as I mentioned, when your wife has worked in the industry for almost 30 years and can herself do everything from Silver Service to proper Barista Coffee (hence why I'm spoilt when it comes to coffee), it can make you a rather harsh critic but both she and I loved our visit today. Pulling off the experiences we had today I know are much harder given Covid-19 but they had all that sorted We only have 3 gripes. 1. Neither of us get much time off together and we not wish we did as we want to come back as soon as we possibly can 2. We wish we didn't live round here then we could book to stay here in their hotel side and 3. We wish we'd ordered the doughnuts too after seeing some being brought out for another table just as we were leaving They looked amazing! Like I say, I don't use the Trip Advisor platform to moan. I use it to shout about somewhere that is worth shouting about. Independent businesses have got it tough at the moment given all the Covid-19 stuff so if you're anywhere near here, go and pay the Falstaff in Ramsgate a visit. You really wont be disappointed!

I went for coffee and luncheon in the Falstaff. Great coffee ☕️. Wide range of drinks and food on offer.
Be the first to ReplyWorst ever family sunday lunch?
Ten of us chose the Falstaff for a family reunion and could not have been more disappointed in the way the meal turned out. We booked several days in advance and still had to wait over an hour for any main courses to arrive. The roast beef choice was really horrible, with tasteless, fatty beef slices, overcooked vegetables, soggy yorkshire puddings which tasted only of the salty gravy with smothered everything. One of us sent back her main dish because it wasn't what had been described on the menu. I could only eat a few mouthfuls of mine because it all tasted so horrible. Most of our party were local and will definitely not be recommending the Falstaff to any friends. It was a dreadful experience and quite ruined our special day.
