Very pricey but excellent
The place is definitely pricey but delicious We had ahi tuna as appetizer thicker cut very fresh and tasty. Shrimp cocktail five somewhat smaller shrimp for$22 overpriced Whole fish for two a striped seabass outstanding for $62. A little strong on the tarragon. Scallops and halibut small portions but delicious $48 each Beet and pear salad very good but $19 Chocolate cake 3X3 inch slice $14 House wine $60 a bottle Total meal for four with tip $100 per person Special occasion place for me anyways
Be the first to ReplyFresh, flavorful seafood for seafood lovers
A real treat for a last minute find on our visit to San Diego. Every dish was different and perfect and the service was fantastic! Wish we can come back again to try the rest of the menu items! So delicious!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat fish restaurant
This is a very cozy place with many good menu items. It serves as a fish store and restaurant with a full bar, including a very good wine list. The swordfish was delightful as was the dessert. Definitely a restaurant to return to.
Be the first to ReplyExpensive and Terrific
Bring all your money and spend it, but you will never forget the tastes of The Fishery! I went here 14 years ago and had the best seafood chowder east of Dingle, Ireland. This trip I had the Fish Chowder and it was amazing. Broth of lobster and fennel with tender cod, shrimp, octopus, mussels and clams. Soak up the broth with crusty bread. My goodness, what a flavor!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic meal!
This was an amazing meal. The fish was fresh, the service good, and overall just a great experience. We had the black cod, which was amazing. The kids fish and chips was also outstanding!

Spot on service and food prep. Delicious and beautifully presented. Casual but upscale. Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyIncreased prices, smaller portions, mediocre quality and now a surcharge
I have been a customer of The Fishery for years and will not be going back. We had dinner there last night and were pretty shocked by the increase in prices, decrease in portions, quality and the surcharge. Everyone felt sympathetic with restaurants and workers during the pandemic. Restaurants expanded into publicly owned square footage and received pandemic money from the government. We continued to support our favorite restaurants by using them for take out. We understand that everyone is affected by inflation and the cost to do business has increased. But when a restaurant increases it prices by 1.5x, reduces the size of their portions by 1/2 and now is charging a surcharge, it is hard for us to support. I ordered the Bouillabaisse which had been my go-to meal there. They raised the price to $48 and when it arrived it looked like an appetizer or children's size portion. The quality I would say is good perhaps I would give it a "B" but this is certainly not one of the top restaurants in San Diego such as George's at the Cove. George's also charges a surcharge but we are really unhappy with the surcharge at The Fishery. This not only affects the customers but the serving staff because patrons take the extra surcharge into consideration when leaving the gratuity.
Be the first to Replygood fish, but unnecessarily pricey
Positives: very well prepared fish. We had the bouillabaise and macadamia encrusted halibut. Both around $45 each. Pricey, but it was good. However, there were no vegies at all and portions were small and we actually needed to order bread to fill us up. And the 2 orders for bread cost us $16 for what was about a 1/4 loaf of bread. And then they add a $10 surcharge. So, $26 for what? Not a good value.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food
Everything we tried was great, the chowder, a sushi roll, and some of the pastas. Highly recommend. The best place we visited while in town.
Be the first to ReplyVery good food in a great relaxed setting
Fantastic menu with so many great seafood options. Service was excellent. Atmosphere is casual yet not too casual. The appetizers and entrees were all good to very good but nothing quite hit the five star mark. The grilled oysters were disappointing and the sushi rolls were average but everything else we had was very good. Pricing is good.
Be the first to ReplyBEST SEAFOOD RESTAURANT IN SAN DIEGO!!!
BEST SEAFOOD RESTAURANT IN SAN DIEGO!! โฆand after living here for over 30 years, I have been to them all! The fresh halibut and swordfish were perfectly prepared. Great Caesar salad. The entire staff is awesome, great teamwork. Canโt wait to go back!
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced
We went here on the recommendation of a friend of my husband's. The menu was very limited. The fish was well cooked but the vegetables that were to accompany it were nearly non-existent. The portions are tiny to say the least and the prices through the roof. I am sorry we listened to the recommendation.
Be the first to ReplyFresh and well presented
This was my second time at this restaurant. The ambience is nice and the service good. As soon as we sat the waiter came with water and the menus. The menu is not too long nor complicated, as a matter of fact it is a very simple food. We started with some oysters and a carpaccio which was delicious, fresh, and well presented. After that I had the fish and chips with the halibut which was very good. To finish I had the lemon tart, all very good.
Be the first to ReplyGreat fishmonger and restaurant
This is my second time coming here and it definitely holds. I love the fishmonger right there in front of everything. It shows the great quality of fish they have available. We ordered a few dishes and they were all great. They had very quick service and were really accommodating. We asked for the burger to be cut in three and they quickly did it for us. I think the ceviche stood out to me the most. Highly recommend tris restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyNothing special. Limited menu...not fresh food
Nothing special overpriced under-serviced mediocre quality restaurant. We got sick after dinner. Tip was changed to higher percentage which we most definitely didn't mean to do, it was changed...percentage of tip is added after all taxes and special fees (not advertised anywhere). Menu is limited. Not Recommended at all.
Be the first to ReplyEnjoyed all the Fish choices
All fish for two of us; the vegan options were very limited even though we called ahead and they were then served the pasta with cheese, sadly. We enjoyed oysters, fish soup, and halibut. The salmon was just OK.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic seafood
My husband and I ate dinner here last night and we were not at all disappointed. It was a fantastic meal and the service was excellent. I had the wonderful clam chowder and the house salad to start and then had the shrimp fettuccine. I think the fettuccine was homemade just so delicious.
Be the first to ReplyThe best service and oysters Rockefeller anywhere
The oysters Rockefeller were the best over-the-top delicious with a bit of Pernod on the top couldnโt have been any better the fish and chips were very good and the swordfish piece was delicious if you donโt like olives then I have them put the sauce on the side because it really does overpower the delicious fish
Be the first to Replyeach item truly fabulous
The cocktails were amazing, the salads were divine, BUT THE FISH-- SO GOOD. Best oysters ever had in my life. Each of us had different things and it was all superb.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Pacific Beach Restaurant!
We stayed at the Pacific Terrace Hotel and could easily walk to this restaurant. The seafood was fantastic and the service was very good. We tried a variety of dishes and they were all excellent. We decided to try this restaurant based on reviews here on Trip Advisor. We loved this place and will definitely be back next time weโre in town. Very highly recommend!
