An overpriced tourist trap in a tourist area.
I found this restaurant by simply walking by. I wanted a steak(which I don't have often). The steak was tough, chewy & fatty. The wine was so overpriced - 2 glasses of a Tuscan blend - that were no more than 2 shot glassess full.(cost 44Euro) The service was mediocre. I could of done better a couple of blocks away. The dinner for myself was 98 Euro - consisted of caprese salad, salad, 2 glasses(?) of wine. This dinner & the taxi drivers in Naples & Sorrento were the only ripoffs I've had during my 2 month stay in Italy.
Just right for a Sunday evening.
Very good steak large and varied starters and excellent home made pasta service was decent and the setting was lovely just above the general drag surprised hasn’t been rated higher certainly better than the current number 3!
Microwave food
2 of the 10 meals that were ordered were inedible. The gluten free lasagna had been microwaved from frozen and could not have been cut with a knife. The gnocchi were burned and all stuck together. Three different people came out to argue with us and not one person apologized. I can’t remember the last time I sent a meal back, let alone two in one restaurant. Avoid at all costs.

Don't come here. Very bad service
This is the worst service so far in Italy and we've been here for 12 days so far all over Italy. If you are am American you will be treated terribly. Bad service and attitude from the wait staff. They gave us packets of olive oil and balsamic when we asked for it and practically threw it on the table. We asked for the real bottles and they complained. Don't come here.

Just wonderful
We can highly recommend this restaurant. The beautifully presented dishes typical of the region taste wonderful and the service is extremely courteous and friendly. We visited The Garden twice during our week-long vacation and were impressed both times. The host Gennaro in particular impressed us with his intelligent and warm personality and shared his great knowledge of the country and its people with us. Thank you very much for your great hospitality, it was a pleasure to get to know you - we'll be back 😄
Excellent dinner, excellent staff, excellent bill
We returned to Gennaro's restaurant for my wife's birthday and we were always satisfied... The child had a novelty this year: the Ravello pizza with raw cherry tomatoes and flakes, my wife and I had the imperial risotto with the fruits of sea with well-made lobster washed down with a good French-style barricaded white wine, and to finish Gennaro's splendid lemon delight.
Not Worth the Expense
We had called in here for a drink earlier in the holiday, so decided to return for a meal. I consider it overpriced. The wine prices by the glass (not the top-end wine) seem in line with other restaurants until you see that is is a smaller pour. My lamb rack was two tasteless chops - so disappointing as it was an expensive dish. Service was reasonable, but I won't return.

wine pours are the worse out of all the regions we've been. Give you "packets" of oil and balsamic like you are at a fast food restaurant. Overall very very disappointing as we had so many other good choices !
The pros of this place are 1) nice fresco dining area.
And I think that is the end of the list. As others have commented, the service is outragiously bad. Waiters are condencending and rude, and you will wait forever for a simple drink. The food is the second worse thing. The braised "lamb" was hard as a rock, and certainly tasted like a poorly cooked chuck roast. I showed the waiter how hard the pieces of lamb were (I could barely pierce it with a fork!) and he picked up the plate and actually said "everyone else likes it". I replied "maybe they have never had lamb before". He huffed and walked away. This was the most expensive place we ate in Sorrento and the only bad place. It was very disappointing. I can forgive bad food, but rude service is unacceptable.
I don't recommend this place.
Staff was terribly rude. Don't need to taste the food. Felt unwelcome! Found a way more better place. Go to "The Horseshoe" instead.
We went to have lunch here, all ten of us.
The servers ignored us at first. Then they were setting up a long table for us. They must have heard us talk about sharing a couple of pizzas because we're small eaters. The server said we have to order one dish each in a rude manner. It's a good thing we left because a lot of customers have complained about their service.

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
