The Harrods Tea Room London Reviews from The Last Year
Spontaneously walked to Harrod's for a browse and afternoon
Spontaneously walked to Harrod's for a browse and afternoon tea. The Tea Room is located on level 4. Advanced reservations have a fixed price menu. Walk ups can have tea ala carte. The scones, clotted cream and Harrod's jam were worth it. Earl Grey hot on the table is divine. Sam our server was delightful while pouring our tea. . A very pleasant and tasty experience. Enjoy.
Pleasant experience, with a few gripes :)
The first thing that struck me was that check in for afternoon tea was very odd.. As you enter there is a reception desk to the left, they then tell you to continue on to reception. You should be able to be clearly see reception on arrival!. You then stand in a q which is one way in and one way out so people are squeezing past to leave or use the loo's. I believe that the 27th of April was the last day of this set up though as the tea rooms are being relocated due to being refurbished so hopefully this will be rectified. The table was fairly simple but there was a pretty flower in a vase which brightened it up. The amuse-bouche was delicious, followed by the sandwiches and cakes, all fairly tasty. The tea was nice and we were offered more sandwiches etc but it wasn't made clear if it was complimentary in with the overall price, and of course we didn't want to embarrass ourselves by asking. We did ask to take away two of the scones which we were charged a cover charge of £2.00 for on top of the service charge. Is that fair?, you can decide that for yourselves.
A tasty and luxurious Afternoon Tea!
We attended for a 50th birthday celebration and had a great time! The food was plentiful, tasty and could be restocked if needed. Lots of varying tastes and items to suit everyone. One guest also had some preferences to what they eat (notified the team in advance and they had kept a record which was very appreciated) and this was managed extremely well and those items replaced. The tea selection was vast and everything extremely high quality- we would recommend the cold teas which were amazing. We also had cocktails which were generous and with high alcohol contents. Our server was attentive and never rushed us- we ended up spending around 4 hours at the afternoon tea and enjoyed every bit! The booking process was easy and straightforward but would note that the advice provided wasn't always accurate or helpful. Would really recommend this Afternoon Tea to anyone, especially for special occasions!
Don’t bother with this
Found this a very poor experience. Sandwiches were very very dry to the touch could tell they had been sitting around for ages. When I told the server they took them and replaced them with more dry sandwiches. Cakes were not dry but not very nice very sweet. Scones were just ok. First thing server asks us if we would like water to the table said yes ok and this was charged as extra. Obviously would not had bothered just presumed it was part of what we had paid for. Very underwhelmed.
We have a wonderful tea service today at Harrods.
I was very impressed with their staff and customer service, but especially their gluten free options, some of the best GF options I've had. Beautiful space and the piano music was a very nice addition. We loved it

The food isn't all that great, there was a dead fly in our food and the tea was extremely bitter, the only thing that we actually enjoyed was the Coronation Chicken, Warm Parmesan Madeleine and the scones, but for a tea place it was probably the worst tea I've ever had. Not a "bad" service but I hope they can improve a lot more. The place is very elegant and clean, comfortable but nothing out of this world. The food was brought to us quickly, there were some issues but were quickly solved. Extremely expensive for what it is, it's totally not worth it.
Absurdly expensive for tea and treats that were no better
Absurdly expensive for tea and treats that were no better than could be had many other places. Seems to exist for Instagram users to show that they had tea a Herrod's...
Tea at Harrods
A Great experience and we are glad we went. However I do feel the price per person was very high and not worth it in the end. The service was excellent and our server a pleasure. The food was well prepared and beautifully arranged.

There is no doubt that it is over priced, but it was truly lovely. Excellent service. I generally find most english sandwiches dry and even more so, tasteless. These were enjoyable with interesting flavors. I have a mango allergy, so they swapped out some items for me - a sandwich and a desert. Everything was yummy - even things I often don't enjoy. They offered more sandwiches, but we declined because we had more food than we needed as it was. They also brought an extra treat at the end for the birthday i mentioned on the reservation. The live piano was a nice touch. I am not one who will have a high tea often, but for a special experience, I would go back.
Tea Party at Harrods
Having Tea at Harrods needs no Introduction. Everything is simply the Finest and the Absolute Best. We enjoying visiting Harrods for Tea each time we visit London. The quality and and the ambiance Wow.
Not the best !
We had an experience gift voucher for our visit I have been to a few different high end afternoon teas and harrods is definitely not the best. I have nothing to complain about , everything was tasty enough and to be fair the scones were amazing, I just don’t feel the price justified the experience! I was also warned on booking of the dress code , my husband wore smart shoes that were killing after walking around London all Day , only to find other diners in white trainers and tracksuits…we could have been comfortable after all !!
An odd corridor with average food
A strange enough experience and not very Harrods. The chairs were tired with upholstery missing and the whole vibe was a bit upmarket village hall - esque. It seemed to be a corridor for shoppers and the service was ok but not 5 star. Food was again, ok but not as good as expected. Was a gift experience and was then presented with a 12.5% service fee bill to pay which seemed unnecessary. Better options out there for sure.
Rushed experience
I have held off writing this review as I had reported an incident of suspected food poisoning which gave me diarrhoea within an hour of leaving and resulted in three episodes in the space of an hour or less together with clamminess and sweating. I looked online how soon symptoms can appear and it stated after 30 minutes. I contacted Harrods the next day explaining what had happened and that the experience had been rushed, food did not appear particularly fresh (fruit was clearly not prepared that day and croissant was dry). I explained that despite being allocated 90 minutes for the booking, we had finished the meal in 25 minutes. We felt it was not the luxury experience we envisaged and that it had been a gift. Harrods wrote back today with a fob of email ie they have carried out investigation and given instruction to staff and hope to welcome me back in store soon. Nothing about the rushed or unpleasant experience. Needless to say I have no intention of rushing back to Harrods for anything. There are far nicer places to have afternoon tea in London for a similar price although this was Breakfast at Tiffany’s but what a disappointment. Don’t waste your money.
Afternoon tea at Harrods
My husband and I visited Harrods Tea Rooms as our first experience with afternoon tea while on our first ever trip to London. We were very excited to try it, as we had never had afternoon tea before and had read some excellent reviews about the tea service at Harrods. I do have to say it wasn't exactly what I expected. The tea room itself was beautiful. When we arrived, the chandeliers and the fanciful decor really caught our eye, and I loved the pianist who played throughout our time there. The service was... okay. They were friendly while at the table, but for the most part the staff stayed away, which is a mix of both good and bad. Sometimes we had to wait a while for someone to come by if we needed more tea or anything at all. I'm a huge fan of staff not being constantly present, but I do like to have someone at least around so they can be flagged down if needed. The tea was good, so I definitely can't complain about that. And there was a decent mix of good and bad with the sandwiches and desserts. Good enough that we had enough to eat so we weren't hungry (we stopped here after spending all day out walking without eating anything before) but not so good that we just had to eat it all. Overall, I'd say the experience was average. Better than others tea rooms we tried, but definitely not the best. Would I go here again? Maybe if the better tea rooms were booked solid and I really wanted an afternoon tea. Would I recommend it? Also a maybe, though there are certainly other places I would recommend first. But it wasn't bad. So if you're looking for somewhere just to try an afternoon tea in an easy to get to location with minimal fanfare, I say Harrods Tea Rooms is worth a try.
Wouldn’t recommend.
Our visit which was meant to be a real treat for Afternoon Tea was spoiled as it is a thoroughfare for shoppers walking from one department to another. We felt as though we were on show! Extremely uncomfortable and not an enjoyable experience.
Not happy with Harrods cream tea
Went for a special treat of cream tea. When I booked it I saw all the different vouchers for £40 for 2 but I booked it through Harrods tea rooms thinking it was same price as didn’t see anything on there to say otherwise. Was shocked when I received bill and was for £80 . I asked to speak to manager who told me it’s £40 with a voucher or £80 booked through them. I could not understand why they did not mention it was £80 . Was very badly advertised . Will not go back again
Totally disapointed with the tea service.
Had a reservation for 530pm, its now 620pm, we wanted more food only to be told the kitchen is closed. I've been here several times and they give you 2 hours to finish.

Just...WOW! Harrods in general was absolutely amazing! It is HUGE, it is timeless, a must see/do if you are in London. The ladies of our group all went out on this little adventure and made a reservation here. It was good food, great company and a fun experience. Everyone should do it once! Quintessential with London and tea. Servers switched in the middle of service, which I thought was odd so there was a little lag in getting some of our food/tea but still have no complaints. A wide variety of teas, pastries, finger foods, etc. Pianist playing in the background. Very lovely!
My last after tea I had was good but not great.
It seemed like all the pastries and finger sandwiches were on the bland side. However the service and atmosphere are very nice with the live pianist. The tea is excellent, wonderful selection of many teas but lacking on the food portion a little. Overall still a cool experience.
This was nice to enjoy while visiting Harrods.
Very good service and the food selections were delicious! They helped me choose the perfect tea to my liking! Beautiful large room decorated with a pretty Christmas tree and wonderful live piano music playing all led to a nice atmosphere to enjoy an afternoon tea. The food selections were delicious and very creative! The only negative thing I feel I have to say is that I didn't enjoy the "gawker" shoppers that pass directly through the restaurant right past our table. That was uncomfortable.
Indulging in Parisian desserts here was an absolute
Indulging in Parisian desserts here was an absolute delight! Our breakfast experience exceeded expectations, with friendly service. My only suggestion would be to consider expanding the outdoor seating area.

The main page will typically show you restaurants rankings based on city. I am new too and its been mostly guess work and trying the ones that are high ranking. I right now am sticking to top 10's but still waiting to hit that first sale.
