The Ivy In The Lanes Brighton Reviews
Fabulous place
Great food waiters very attentive. Our favourite restaurant. We went here for our anniversary so glad we did.We will definitely be back again soon.
Shocked!
What has happened to this restaurant. Waiters were accommodating, food was lovely but the hygiene awful. Such a shame as use to be the place to go.
Absolutely Fantastic
Today we celebrated our Civil Partnership at the Ivy. Oh my god it was FANTASTIC. From the very start of the planning process right to the service on the day it had been absolutely outstanding. If you read all my other reviews you will see how honest I am and how I do not hold back if I feel developmental feedback is necessary.. Well we have nothing but praise. Agne Igaris our event manager helped us all the way along. She was so flexible when we kept changing things. Nothing was too much bother. On the day Adam was our personal waiter. He was brilliant unobtrusive but wonderfully professional. Again nothing too much trouble. We had our own private room with a video screen to show our videos we had made and play our own background music. The table was beautiful and the food outstanding. I have to say it was one of the best days of our lives and The Ivy played a huge huge part of it. Thank you to everyone who helped make it wonderful. We will be back in a few weeks to bring a few friends who couldn’t mange to come on the day so we look forward to our return.
Amazing staff
We hosted a work event here, the staff were so helpful and polite and of course the venue is amazing. We'd recommend it others.

Romantic afternoon shopping in brighton
Well all I can say is if you are lucky enough to have David host you the experience is as as good as beaverbrook, gravetye! I was with my husband in brighton for the afternoon shopping popped into the ivy and stayed! Food was great, David made it a memory, charming, energetic, and thoughtful!
Private Dining Lunch Just Perfect!
We held a private lunch in the Tidal Room, the lunch went smoothly and the food was well received. Staff fantastic - Agne did an excellent job of organising and the waiting staff on the day super. Thank you all.
No carrots what’s that about?
Was lovely just not happy with no carrots but the service was awesome and the desert was top notch. Had the shepherds pie which was lovely but could have done with a bit more on the plate.
Amazing service and good
Perfect service, beautiful decor, great food. Everything is done with such care and customer service is paramount. You’re made to feel special here and it’s a lovely atmosphere. Toilets are even beautifully decorated! A great place to go for an extra special night out!
Birthday Meal
Came in this evening for a birthday meal with my boyfriend and his family and the service we received was amazing. So sorry we didn’t get her name but she looks cool, with short hair and glasses. To balance a table of 8 so swiftly was amazing. 10/10 for the service we received. Please pass on our thanks to her!
Excellent food & service.
We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast today. The food was excellent as was the service. Our experience was enhanced by the service & kindness shown by Lily. Nothing was too much trouble. We will be booking again soon.
Fantastic Dining Experience
Dinner reservation for my partners birthday celebration meal. The tables had plenty of space on them and round to allow privacy. Service was 5 staff and also very relaxed and you didn’t feel as though you was being rushed to order. The cocktails are amazing and I definitely recommend the salted caramel espresso martini and Long Island Tea. The food was delicious, well presented and tasted fantastic. Fully recommend and we will be back.
Loved this meal
We came for a family meal. This was everything we wanted it to be. We loved the food and service. It was great and we had lovely servers.
Great fun!
Tom made our visit extra special! My friends birthday was fantastic thanks to the great service & laughs!! Tom is the best cocktail maker that ever lived!
It was ok
Booked in for an afternoon tea for a Mother’s Day/ Birthday celebrations. The staff were nice but service was slow. We booked for quarter past but had to wait at the bar quite awhile till our table was ready. The staff were good at substituting to a pescatarian afternoon tea and taking into account allergies. One thing when the teas came was we wished someone had explained what each item on the tea was. The scones and cake were lovely but the sandwiches were a little dry around the edges but not a massive deal. There was a chocolate drink? In a glass jar but was very thick and wasn’t for us texture wise but did look good. Unfortunately the staff weren’t overly attentive so we were left along time without anyone coming back over for drinks ect. When I got up to ask for the bill, I did ask to remove the service charge as service was ok but not great so I couldn’t justify an additional £11. It was a little uncomfortable that the waitress asked me why I wanted to remove the service charge. The whole experience was fine but not overly what we expected. I love coming to the ivy for dinner but unfortunately whilst the price is good for the afternoon tea itself, the whole experience just wasn’t overly worth it.
Five star fabulous visit
Our first time visiting the Ivy in the Lanes and we will definitely be returning. Absolutely five star from the service through to the food. The staff were so attentive and friendly and it was a superb atmosphere for Mother's Day. The decor and ambience is superb. The food was delicious. Best burgers and fish and chips and the Shepherds Pie and Watermelon salad were fabulous too. A joy from start to finish..thank you.
Afternoon tea
The Ivy in Brighton has always been my favourite restaurant, so when it was my friends special birthday, we booked an afternoon tea for the occasion. We had high hopes, when we arrived the menu had changed to a chocolate afternoon tea, which although had a dry ice wow moment, was very sickly, sandwich selections were very odd, I think we all hardly touched it. It would have been helpful if we had been notified of the change in menu as we could have opted for the lunch menu instead. We will go back for the nomad menu but would avoid the afternoon tea.
Excellent
I cannot praise the Ivy enough .. tonight was our first time there ... the food was delicious and the portion sizes were really good and it wasn't over priced. The staff were friendly and very welcoming. Highly recommended
Always have a great experience
We're regulars at The Ivy In the Lanes and always have a great experience. Food excellent, well-priced, staff super friendly and helpful (shout out to Matias from Sunday 3rd March & the gent with glasses on the front desk - sorry, didn't catch his name!). 10/10 every time.
Not for lone diners
Avoid if a lone diner. I was so looking forward to my visit having booked at least a month before..was on holiday. Was seated at the most ridiculous table right in the middle. Regular diners will know this table. When I used to waitress, we would probably have used it for "walk-ins", undeterred I made myself comfortable, got my book out, and perused the menu...only to be walked past for 10min. How could anyone have missed me?! Am writing this from another restaurant BTW.
