Crazy expensive
I have eaten in expensive restaurants all over the world, but when I opened the menu here I almost fell off my chair. Wait staff: they all seem like they are new or not well trained. Service is slow. Prices: OMG- the cheapest appetizer is $30- for smoked salmon!! Many items are $245, yes, two hundred and forty five dollars. Food: my lobster was good, but not great. My son's filet was good but not great. Lobster fried rice: mostly bacon with some lobster. My husband had sea bass, going by a different more fancy name to up the price. Ambiance: plain, sterile, not cozy, not unique, nothing interesting. Definitely NOT worth the prices they are charging.
Be the first to ReplyConstant upsell and mediocre food.
Went here for a client dinner, and the lead water viewed us a mark right away. The minute we ordered a few nice bottles of wine, the aggressive upsell began. Suggestions to order the A5 Japanese Wagyu, the 40 oz. Tomahawk, the Lobster. The place is already overpriced (and I eat out at nice places all the time), and to lay those suggestions out, without quoting the prices, is a clear attempt to get folks to order those items, since the clients will never see the bill. Then, after the appetizers came out, the waiters just continued to quick pour the wine, asking if we wanted more before we were even done. Another classic hustle. After finally getting them to stop asking about more wine sales, we pointed out it had been an hour and there were no entrees. Only then did they arrive. B- food at best. I have eaten at Alexander's over the years, at various locations, and have liked them. Not this place, and especially not on this night. If felt like a blatant hustle to get back all that lost business over these past few years. It also felt like the lead waiter was intentionally trying to upsell everything, knowing it was a client dinner format. Would not come back.
Be the first to ReplyAggressive up sales and over priced. Average food and terrible service! 1:30 wait for food!
Terrible service, up sell in food and wine! Food was average and the wait staff below average! Would never go back! Avoid like the plague! Sorry you struggled through the Pandemic but donโt penalize your business clients!

Best food ever and the service Joana was awesome. She take the time to write everything she says in all of her recommendations on food, wines and desserts. Excellent job Joana

The menu changes regularly (generally with seasonal availability of ingredients) and is well curated with an appealing variety. The food is very well prepared and imaginative with attention given to clever and unique plating/presentation.
Service is excellent. From the warm greeting at the door, to the well trained wait staff, to the informative but not pretentious explanations of the food, to the helpful and friendly bus staff, everybody is kind and on-their-marks. I especially appreciate how each course is served precisely - the dishes are placed in unison, oriented so they have the best presentation, and silverware and wine glasses are matched appropriately.
The Sea has a wide selection of wines and a nice variety of craft cocktails. For those who prefer to dine outdoors, they have expansive seating that is pleasant, quiet with a nice ambience and service is still spot-on.
Started great ended poorly
I am on a business trip alone, working long hours and I really wanted to take myself out for a nice dinner. But unfortunately, that is not how this story ends. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were amazing along with the food. It ended with a rude hostess who made me feel uncomfortable and silly for asking the time the restaurant opens for the following dinner. Who knew I was an idiot for having to ask?! Next, walked outside and was greeted by the valet who I remarked to that the night would have ended better if I didn't have a rude comment from the hostess. Well, the valet also decided to yell out rude comments and make me feel even less wanted. For an expensive restaurant with a tab of nearly $150 for a single person you would hope to have fine dining experience from all employees. Thank you to my lady and male bartender up until the end it was pleasant.

Its been a long while since our last visit to The Sea by Alexander's and it was the same exceptional level of service and quality of food!! Price is a little on the high side but we had a lovely evening!! We made a reservation and requested Grand Marnier Souffle for my birthday dessert on my reservation. We decided to dine at the bar and watch the second half of the Warrior's game. Greeted by the manager right away, inform him our birthday reservation, he got me a birthday card and two glasses of Champagne to toast!! Very nice!!! We went with all the appetizers, Hamachi shots, dozen of Oysters, Tuna Tartare..The flavors was amazingly delicious!! Lobster Rocks was so crispy outside and tender inside. Popcorn crab was so yummy and the crab inside was so sweet. Grilled Octopus was tender and lemony. Uni was just ok. I prefer its cold and fresh. Then came my Grand Marnier Souffle and a birthday chocolate mouse cake!!!! So nice of them to be able to accommodate my request without any issue!!!
From time to time the manager came and ask if everything was good, same with the bartender!! Love, love, love The Sea by Alexander's!!! They really maintain their exceptional service and delicious food!! Well done & Kudos to Chef Yu Min Lin and all the staff of The Sea by Alexanders!!! We will definitely return soon!!we will definitely return soon!!
Disappointed
We came here for our friends' company Xmas party. There was no parking space. The soup was lukewarm. The steak was too salty and dry. โThe dessert and coffee was not even worth trying. Very disappointed.

Came here during the visit with our family from Utah. Service was phenomenal. Food and presentation were excellent. Highly recommend their seafood. Their dessert was decadent. Plenty of parking and dinner ambiance was fantastic. Highly recommend.

We celebrated our 40th anniversary and wanted a place with good food and service and The Sea certainly exceeded all expectations. We had the hamachi shots and popcorn crab appetizers, grilled salmon and miso black cod entrees with truffle fries, seasonal vegetables, and lobster fried rice.
The seafood was exceptional. Generous portions, perfectly cooked, and complimented with sauces and accompaniments that left you craving for more. The sauces on each entree were absolutely wonderful. The side dishes had so much balance and flavor.
Service was good. Professional, attentive, and timely. Our waitress was great with perfect suggestions and recommendations.
While we are indoors, the staff maintained fairly good practices for health and safety โ gloves, masks, and distancing.
Forgotten orders
Total of 9 family members and friends dined at The Sea by Alexander's' to celebrate a birthday on 1/30/2020. After appetizer was finished, the main course was served. My husband ordered lobster and my cousin ordered a side of mushrooms. Everyone started eating as they they had their food. I waited 5 minutes and reassured my husband that maybe it's coming. Ten minutes passed and there was nothing. I called the lady who served us and asked where was the lobster. She said it's coming. A few minutes went by and still nothing so I motioned to the people at the kitchen counter that my husband did not get his food yet and most everyone is about midway eating their meal. Finally about 20 minutes later, his order came as well as the mushrooms. Unbelievable!!! By this time, my husband did not have the appetite anymore to eat his meal. He took it home untouched. A very fancy and expensive restaurant forgot an order! We've been here before so we know what to expect. Unpleasant experience this time!
Be the first to ReplyGreat Restaurant for a Special Occasion
I took my wife to Sea to celebrate for her birthday. It a little on the pricey side so its definitely one of those special occasion places. The service was fantastic. They made sure that we were taken care of from the moment that we walked in the door until we left. We started with some tempura and Hamachi shots. The shots were great! The flavor combination was awesome. My wife had the lobster and I had the sea bass both of which were really good. The portions were a little on the slim side. They wrapped up our mean with some cotton candy and a nice birthday dessert for my wife. Overall it was a great experience and I would go back for a special occasion.

Go here often. Great service staff, best bar in the valley. The menu is ok. The sea urchin cauliflower soup is actually disgusting.
