I made a reservation for brunch for 6.
We all arrived on time and were left standing by the crowded hostess booth for 50 minutes with little acknowledgment. I think our table had a party that wouldn't leave. They finally sat us at a different table that was very small and had very little room between our seats and the table next to us so some of our party members were basically wedged into the table. There was a dirty rag left on one of the seats. No recognition or apology for how grossly late they were to seat us. Other than the horrible start to the meal, food and service were good. I enjoyed the poached egg and burrata toast. It was a good combination of flavors and veggies but I think my egg was a smidge undercooked and the whites were a teeny bit runny. But only a tad. I enjoyed the eggplant and burrata a lot. One of my friends ordered fries for the table and that was a much needed addition. I also ordered a Bloody Mary. I asked for it spicy and they definitely delivered. I really appreciate that they bring out bottles of still and sparkling house water so that we always had plenty of water.

My first five star review!! Woo! So full transparency, I came in here for brunch wildly hungover with my best friend. I was in rough shape. This place absolutely cured me. The service was top tier every person that worked there was so attentive and friendly. They were always available when we needed something but we never felt smothered by any means. The food was incredible and exactly what I needed. I ordered the steak and eggs with fries and everything about it was fresh and yummy! (Not to mention their menu is incredible which made it really hard to choose) Highly recommend this place!
Be the first to ReplyWe stopped by for a late lunch around 2pm.
We were promptly seated and the staff was very friendly, even offering to hold our luggage as we had just come from the train. Everyone in our flock (my husband and I and our four kids, ages 8-1) really enjoyed their meals. I had the quinoa kale salad with shrimp. It was excellent. The shrimp was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. The kale was tender, and the salad was very flavorful. My husband had the chicken sandwich, which he enjoyed. They have a kid menu, so our littles were content. We were also able to sit outside, which allowed them to get their wiggles out at bit. Our waitress was attentive. Would highly recommend.

Sometimes NYC can be overwhelming when it comes to restaurants, so we default to things we know. When I stay in the East Village, this Smith location is literally feet from my hotel. So I've visited here many times. I've had the burger, which I've previously reviewed. Always juicy and filling. I've had their brunch, which is pretty solid. The Brussels sprouts are always crispy, seasoned, and tasty. This time I had the roasted salmon, served with slow roasted Savoy cabbage, crispy potatoes, melted leeks, and a dijon beurre blanc. The salmon was tender, the veggie combos added so much flavor to the dish. I really enjoyed this dish, which was light, but filling. They have heartier fare such as pork chops and pot pie, several cuts of steak. They have pasta dishes, but with so many Italian spots, I've never felt the need to have the pasta. Service is always so very super nice. Cool place, not stuffy at all. When it's midday and not as busy, sometimes I just got there to sip cocktails and get some work done. This is one of my east village staples.

Nice spot to get brunch and one of the best restaurants to accommodate walk ins! Had the Spicy Salmon Tartare which was just ok but really enjoyed the Benedict Johnny! The cornbread with poached eggs is a lovely combination! Service is always kind and thoughtful!

This is such a great small chain fthat is a perfect spot for breakfast! They found this spot crisis are fantastic and food is so good The ambience is nice too. They have size selections, which I am much appreciate instead of having the typical two-piece Egg Benedict you can offer for one piece which is great for me they give you the most scrumptious biscuit with honey butter. Their coffee is divine. They have a selection of espresso and lattes, but the plain coffee is so good!
Be the first to ReplyI had the spicy salmon tartare crispy rice (Delicious).
Tomato soup, & cauliflower tacos. For dessert I had the smores. Great friendly service, waiter , manager, & hostess made sure we were taken care of. Very friendly and the food couldn't have tasted any better. Looking forward to going back :-)
Be the first to ReplyI took a short trip to New York with my mom and brother.
I booked a reservation on Saturday for brunch. I ended up booking at The Smiths in Midtown because I thought it was the closest. The hosts greeted us and were very kind and welcoming. They were able to accommodate us, and we were seated right away. The restaurant was busy, but the service was still really fast. Our server was amazing, I wish I could Remember her name. The food surpassed our expectations, they had a broad menu which made deciding difficult. My brother ordered the mac and cheese, and it was delicious, it was cheesy, creamy, and had crispy edges. I ordered the pancakes that had a Mable butter, and a toffee caramel. it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet but paired well with the fluffy pancakes. my mom got the Ranchero Scramble. The eggs weren't cooked the way she preferred so we sent the item back. the server, and the kitchen staff member were patient, and kind with cooking the eggs more well done. The restaurant was very clean, there was indoor and outdoor seating offered. It did feel a little crowded, which was expected since we did go at a busy time. I will definitely return on my next trip.
Be the first to ReplyWe stopped in before an afternoon flight on a Friday.
The service was immediately great, they provided us water (sparkling and normal) and amazing bread. We were never in need of anything, we had a great server. The overall ambiance is very nice here, it's set up nice and did not feel crowded. The food was great, and displayed nicely. The drinks did take a little long, but the quality made up for that. I ordered a side of fries which was very generous. We would definitely stop back here.
Be the first to ReplyIt's not easy to find a suitable spot for a 15-person
It's not easy to find a suitable spot for a 15-person party, but The Smith - LES totally nailed it for me. I already had a positive view of The Smith from past experiences at other locations (and for smaller groups), but here they totally blew away my already-high expectations. First off, the food was just exceptional. Everybody raved about the shared starters, especially the mac & cheese and kale & quinoa salad. The entrees across varied categories were enjoyed heartily without a complaint. Even the desserts and drinks were way above average, and several in the crowd believed they'd found the best chocolate chip cookie they'd ever had. We had ruthless foodies, normalcy-seeking suburbanites, gluten-free folks with their tricky plights, carnivores, and a vegan...and all were happy! Not easy to find a restaurant that can do that. Moreover, the service was impeccable. From the early planning stages, to them taking questions as the date came nearer, to the incredibly friendly and attentive staff on the night of, I just felt so well taken care of. I'm so grateful for it. If you're trying to wrangle a big group together, you can't go wrong with The Smith. Don't doubt it.

Brickhouse-esque American restaurant with healthy food portions but slightly expensive price tags. The Mac and Cheese + NY strip were a solid 1-2. Roughly $25 a dish. 3.5/5 stars as a lunch spot.

Service was good and friendly. Food was good, especially the starters. I plan to go back.

The food was amazing I got the burger and Prosecco (what a combo I know), but it really was great. I'm not a burger person but I was STARVING and wanted as much food as possible and it was just that. The service was GREAT. I'm a server in Texas and this was just as welcoming and on top of it. Ok our servers name started with an M and she had short hair maybe Melissa? She was so delightful if we had more money to spend I would tip tf out of her. The ambiance was nice, a bit loud but other than that it was a great experience. The prices are a lil much but I loved it.
Be the first to ReplyThis place literally has all my favorite foods.
The apps all taste great. The burgers are fancy Big Macs, but better. Everything here has me coming back more than 1x. Only want them to bring back the delicious hummus
Be the first to ReplyProbably one of the top 3 worst place I've ever eaten at.
Old fashioned was great. The chips with blue cheese and the burrata were good. Salmon tartare was nasty (salmon wasn't fresh and smelled). The burger was dry. I ordered medium rare and the inside was indeed pink, but the meat was dry and tasteless. The WORST burger I've EVER had. McDonald's should get a Michelin star compared to that. Good thing I ordered a side of salad which was good.
Be the first to ReplyStopped in here to get out of the rain with my two kids.
We were a drenched mess and were greeted with the kindest people who treated us so well :) Food was fantastic! Everything we ordered was perfect. Will definitely return next time we're in NY.

Casual American Brasserie with multiple locations across New York City, tried the one in Midtown East. Popular brunch spot, however not completely worth the hype. For a sweet dish, we ordered the Vanilla Bean French Toast, dusted with powdered sugar and served with caramelized bananas, which seemed to ruin the dish for us. To help balance it out, as a savory dish we ordered the Steak & Eggs and opted for the ribeye steak. This was bone in, served with mixed greens, hash, and sunny side eggs. The hash was flavorful however the steak was basic and nothing differentiate the steak from other brunch spots. Food looked better than it actually tasted. Definitely should reserve in advance as the restaurant has tendencies to be booked.
Be the first to ReplyI just had the absolute best burger hands down.
It was 60ยฐ in the city and we ate outside. I started with a Caesar Salad which was super delicious. Our server was pretty amazing. She bent over backwards to make sure we left satisfied. I'm coming back to this place next time I'm in town.

This restaurant has a lot of great options on the menu that I would like to try. Our waitress provided great service and made sure we were taken care of.

The shrimp grits were fantastic and the beer selection was on point. The menu made it tough to make a decision with lots of tasty options.
Be the first to ReplyI'm gluten free.
The waitress was versed in the menu and was able to explain which appetizers and mains were gluten free vs gluten via cross contamination only vs gluten as an ingredient in the dish. I chose to have the duck wings appetizer which I loved. My husband also liked it. I asked the waitress whether she liked the salmon or chicken. She said the chicken was her favorite so I ordered it and the jus was great. The plates that were gluten free came to the table with little red flags on them. These were for the kitchen staff to know not to put any gluten on a dish with a red flag. The red flags meant "green light" for me to eat! The manager stopped by our table to explain the red flag convention. Being gluten free (but not celiac) all of this was so helpful and made for an enjoyable and truly delicious meal in a lively environment.

Been coming here for years around every 2/3 weeks and I'm so disappointed with the service, over time I've noticed how the employees are moving much slower and taking 20-30 mins just to get my drink order. It's pretty disappointing because i will watch the workers talk and hang out instead of watching around for the numerous customers that are waiting more than 20 mins just to order a drink. I see that the busboys have been more attentive than the waitresses. I've been coming here for a few years and I'm extremely disappointed with the service. 0/10. Will not come back to this location ever again. It's been like this for a few months and it's only got worst.

Huevos rancheros - this was served on a soft taco and with avocado. ย Delicious but pricey The smith has multiple locations in the city. This one got fairly crowded for breaking as soon as they opened at 930am. Plenty of options for everyone but I don't think the dishes are worth that price!

My boyfriend misplaces his phone and first thing the arrogant gash hostess says is can put a pointless piece of virtue signaling fabric on his mouth, as opposed to assisting him in finding his personal property. RUDE. Piss off and go smell your own farts. ย Your food isn't worth it.
Be the first to ReplyWent for brunch on sunday and wasn't particularly impressed.
Food was fairly overpriced for what I got. Ordered a burger and it was good but nothing to call home about. The thing that annoyed me most was how the tables were right on top of each other. I understand it is NYC but there wasn't even enough room for me to comfortably slide into my chair. You could easily just join the conversation of the table next to you which was it a little odd. Will prob head to other spots moving forward.
