Exceptional Visit
Visited night after snow storm, so we had the place to ourselves, like a private house!! Owner was very welcoming, interacted well and made us feel "at home". Lovely wood fire, restaurant oozed character. All the food was excellent, I will highlight the Gurnard as first time I has tried, ice, not too fishy and was complimented with a Cannellini Bean Casserole and Jools the Cod, also opting for the Beans instead of Black Puding. And of course the desserts were exceptional, the chocolate sauce on the chocolate sponge the stand out, 5 desserts for the four of us, a little over the top, but highligfhted the quality. If i was to be a little picky, the rice was a little over cooked in the pudding for my preference, but lovely creamy texture and taste. Expect to pay about 50pds a had for food... well worth it.

I've been wanting to visit the Tytherleigh Arms for over a year now... and I was not disappointed. I booked an overnight stay as a surprise for my partner, and it was just perfect. The accommodation is beautiful, lovely decor and nice touches like White Company toiletries and fresh cookies in a jar. We had dinner in the pub that evening, and the food was incredible! My favourite was the Amuse Bouche (which was a lovely surprise!) and the venison main. But the star of the show was the chocolate pudding - the best I've ever had. The service was amazing, the food delicious. I've already recommended Tytherleigh Arms to friends and family and will definitely be back.

We went here for evening meal on 14/12/2022 for our anniversary and the food was absolutely amazing. I had the partridge starter which was absolutely delicious and for our mains I had the venison which I would highly recommend and my wife had the fish and chips both our meals was cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend the Tytherleigh amrs to anyone looking for top quality food and can not wait to go there again next time we are in Axminster.

Be the first to ReplyExcellent Sunday Roast
We had a lovely table by an open fire. Very festive and atmospheric. The service was 5 star … every member of staff treated us well, and were warm and friendly. We had the local roast beef and roast pork and it was incredibly tender. Faultless! We were able to take our dog in, which made all the difference. The only thing that we would change is moving the coffee machine from the bar to somewhere quieter. But that is such a small point. Well done Guys.

Be the first to ReplyGreat Sunday roast
We have eaten here quite a few times over the last 5 years and it never disappoints! Warm, welcoming and the staff and friendly and attentive. It’s a cosy pub and the food is exceptional. Clearly a lot of thought goes into each dish - the textures and flavours are delicious and very seasonal. The chocolate caramel pudding was superb; melt in the mouth sponge beautifully paired with malt ice cream. One of the best places around for a treat and really clever cooking with top quality ingredients. We will be back.

Super experience with a family and friends party of 7 at this charming restaurant. Impeccable service, high food quality and realistic prices. A wonderful place.
Be the first to ReplyCouldn’t fault it
I rarely give 5 star excellent rating, but in this occasion it was justified. It was my birthday and I booked the Tytherleigh arms after checking trip advisor. I was so impressed. We were warmly greeted by staff and roaring log fire, the smell of wood smoke and real candles casting a warm ambience. I had the orange gin aperitif, which was lovely. We were treated to 2 delightful Amuse-bouche. We had 3 courses and each was as good as the other. There wasn’t one thing that I would have changed. Our server was attentive and had a happy disposition. We enjoy lots of hotel gourmet breaks. Although we didn’t actually stay on the hotel, I can say that this was one of the best meals I’ve have for a long time. I can’t recommend it enough. It was £143 with a 10% tip a beer, 3 courses for 2, 2 glasses of wine and the aperitif. Not cheap but I thought it was fairly priced and for a birthday, worth every penny. If I lived locally I’d be back.

A family occasion made 'special' with exceptional food and a friendly atmosphere. This is restaurant standard food in a traditional pub. An excellent choice on the menu. Fresh local food is beautifully presented. Looking forward to a second visit.

We absolutely love this place. We visit Devon at least a couple of times every year and always make sure we come to the Tytherleigh Arms as part of our stay. The food is exquisite and the hosts are lovely. Thoroughly recommended.

Staff very attentive
I prefer a table cloth, especially at these prices, felt like I was eating at a bar table.
Ordered the Hoggett, beautifully cooked but unfortunately that’s where my dish ended, the rest of the plate was baby food, same textures, puréed food. I don’t want nor need my food like this, please give me something to chew!
Desert was rhubarb tart with rhubarb sorbet, tart did not taste of rhubarb but the sorbet was delicious.
so disapointing
Dining room, staff, wine all very good. Food was dreadful. Skipped starters and ordered Dover sole on the bone. Big mistake, didn't ask what Troncon meant. Its half a minute fish on the bone, It was overcooked and by the time it was deboned there was a fork full of fish left. There was an assortment of veg/puree on the plate none of which added to the dish. As one of the most expensive main courses it was simply bad. We didn't stay for sweet course as we were so disappointed. Discussion resulted in a small refund which came very quickly. Great shame as this was a special meal that was a thankyou to two very kind people.

Be the first to ReplyFantastic gluten free roast
We came here as a group of 6 a few weeks ago for a Sunday roast/grandmas birthday celebration. We ordered in advance and I chose the roast beef. Everyone was thoroughly impressed with their lunch - hot, loads of fresh vegetables, lovely potatoes, rich gravy and a generous portion of tender rare beef. As a coeliac I was especially looked after, even being made gluten free yorkshires and given a side of my own fresh vegetables (as the cauliflower cheese in the sharing vegetables wasn't gluten free). Attention to detail for gluten free was fantastic. We all had desserts which were equally delicious. I can't wait to bring my parents back here in the new year for a roast lunch! Thank you Tytherleigh.

Lovely relaxed service, with some of the best food enjoyed in a very long time.
First time back since since meeting friends from Sweden here many years ago.
Will most definitively be returning in new year.
THANK YOU!
Incredible service and beautiful food
This was our second time here and we loved every moment. It was my partner’s early 30th birthday meal and I had not told the team - however they overheard (I assume!) and very kindly did a birthday plate for Lauren, making it extra special. We were served by Rosie, who could NOT do enough for us, plus she took the time to help my Dad order the rum he had. I am unfortunately lactose intolerant which I find very embarrassing but upon seating, I was given my very own menu which was showing me everything I COULD have - wow! This level of consideration and thoughtfulness was beyond my expectations. The food was just spectacular. Overall, we were absolutely over the moon and cannot wait to return. Thanks for everything Rosie and team!
Mark and Co keep on getting it right
I am getting fed up writing rave reviews for this restaurant . i keep visiting hoping someone slips up so i can show i am being unbiased but unfortunately these people just go from strength to strength. Great food wonderful Staff good atmosphere. The local food showcased is great . This time I had Venison for mains and Partridge breast to start both great.
