Very expensive
The place is very dark and dingy, platter of cheese for 2 is 890++.
Most of the wines are American so the selection will not suit all, pizzas are expensive and just over baked frozen pizzas.
Service was pretty good, but overall itโs not value for money, environment is not to my taste and nor is the wine.
Nice selection of wines
Went to this place to buy some bottles for a party. Impressed by the wuality of wines they are serving. Got a chance to try a wine tasting for their new arrivals. There are also food when you want to dine in. Its a very intimate place for wine lovers.
Be the first to ReplySmall, cosy restaurant specializing in California wines
Not easy to find as located in a myriad of one-way streets with access on the side of and somewhat obscured by a Bank of China entrance.
But once there, you won't be disappointed.
The menu, albeit limited, offers an eclectic mix of appetizers and main courses using high quality ingredients.
The wine list, interestingly only California wines, offers a huge variety from affordable to much more expensive!
The ambience is cosy, with pleasant background music, and the service most courteous and helpful.
Definitely worth the detour.
intimate place
it's small place but good place to have wine and chat with friends. food was ok but main dish takes a while to serve because the meat was frozen.
Be the first to ReplyMediocre place
I'm not a big wine guy, so maybe I missed the specific charms of this place, but I found it rather mediocre. The place was supposed to look like a wine cellar, but ended up just looking dingy instead. There was no atmosphere whatsoever (no music playing, the decor just felt old, etc.). The staff was fairly efficient, but looked like they were at a wake (they weren't rude or anything, but no smile whatsoever and looked like they were going through the motions).
The wine was actually good, but the food like I said in the title was mediocre. The Caesar Salad was rather plain, used cheap lettuce and bread (like those at much lower end places), the steak while well cooked was of a low quality meat (again, measured against the price you pay).
Likely not going back.
Not too well known, but cozy with good wine and food
A small quiet wine outlet with good food and very friendly owners, this is a great place to get together with friends and enjoy good reasonable wine with some interesting dishes.

We had bought a voucher for a 3-course dinner to enjoy on a Friday, what a letdown that was! You would have thought they would try to impress a bit at least since there were few people and the chef had lots of time to make it a success and see us coming back, but no... It was thrown together served in less than 20 min ready made like a cafeteria.. Some kind of tomato soup was served as a starter.. utterly boring served more or less a simultanously as we sat down. No bread on the side no feeling of having something prepared for us just a a pre-prepared mealwith no taste or soul whatsoever. This was followed by a rather tired caesar salad illuding to be a the second serving finally followed by some old, chewy, extremely fatty shortribs accompanied by baby-carrots, brussel sprouts and baked wedged potatoes...all served in a hurry with no taste or any refinement. A wineglass filled with a minimal amount of approx.15-20cl of redwine was the highlight of the meal. Well we wont be coming back, ever! Total disappointment. We were in and out of the place in less than 40 min. for what was supposed to be a nice Friday dinner. Duh... The chef here must be totally burned out or totally incompetent or both. They should stick with serving wine and tell their chef to find work in a karinderia where they don't care about quality!

This place doesn't get much foot traffic, but that's a shame because it serves excellent international food, mainly Italian dishes with even some Hawaiian fare as well... Their Calamari is outstanding and the pasta and pizza dishes are as close to authentic Italian as you can get in this country, but they were even better in the past. Their chicken and meat dishes are excellent as well, and they do a decent cheese platter.
They are probably the leading distributor of Californian wines in the country, and you can enjoy their selection with your meal. I do not like Californian wines personally, but they pair well with the food menu, and are the best for the local Filipino palette (i.e. sweet).
Service is fast and attentive, but when the place gets full (mostly on Thursday nights when a live band plays Bossa Nova type music) they seem a bit overwhelmed.
Only negatives are the permanent mosquito population, every time I come I seem to see several whizzing about. The solo toilet also gets pretty dirty at times. And if you're not a fan of Californian wines, they only have a couple of French Sparkling wines and some old, expired (i.e. oxidised till kingdom come) high appellation French wines, so avoid those.
This is a great place to bring a date, hang out with some friends, or to bring a secret lover as you may at most times have the place all to your selves. Not many people know about this place, so take advantage while you can.
Sweet place for a date night
Husband and I were staying at a nearby hotel in bad weather, with tired legs, and needed a place to eat dinner while our nanny held fort with the kids. I'd seen good reviews of The Wine Club on TA but was not particularly feeling in the mood for fine dining (in very casual attire) however I'm glad we gave it a go.
I'd actually call it relaxed bistro dining with five star service. Our server was the sweetest and most knowledgeable young fellow who really enhanced our experience with his well-timed conversation and attention to our dining needs. He recommended a delicious wine and we enjoyed our mains immensely. Would have preferred an alfresco dining situation or even a window to see the world outside but I guess the restaurant is constrained by its space.
My only suggestions would be to add some nice desserts to the menu and to get a collared shirt and dress pants for the memorable server.
Thank you for a lovely evening :)
