I was SO excited to come here, being a Sommelier and having an opportunity to navigate your own tasting is a rare experience. Sadly, it was not all I was hoping for, and not all it’s cracked up to be. I tasted 12 wines and 3 of them were WELL past their prime. Also, there were 5 samples that were not tagged properly ( the description of the wine ) did not match up to the bottle or price. If the manager is reading this, more attention to detail should be paid as you’re probably losing a lot of money. The waitress was great, and the food delicious, however that poor waitress doesn’t make NEARLY as much as she should, because once I load my card up at the front, she has no incentive or opportunity to upsell me, as she doesn’t get to ring in the wines I’m wanting to try. Bottom line, she only makes tips on the food, which can’t be enough to live on. The Wine Room is a great idea, but it’s wanting to be too much, they should re focus their efforts so the waitress has more control over what wine she recommends and opens for customers. If the wait staff were trained in wine knowledge, they should be able to load my card for me and bring me with them to get the sample so they can discuss the wines in more detail. This would add credibility to the establishment and would bring in the higher end clientele they are hoping to attract. Then tipping would be more justified on their card system. Instead of tipping prior to taking your first sip. It’s a cool concept, it just needs to be tweaked just a bit.
