I've been wanting to try Tian Fu for a while now and finally made my way over. If you are looking for Sichuan food and can handle it, then this is the perfect place to go. I assumed they would have more variety without the spicy numbness, but I was wrong. There's at least 2 styles of furniture for dining. I preferred not to sit in the giant lower chairs, but that's usually where they would seat parties of 2. I didn't realize they don't provide any menus, and you have to use your phone for the entire process. Otherwise, I would have made sure both our phones were charged. I was afraid our phones would die before we could pay...also online by phone. They don't have an alcohol license yet, so that's something to be aware of for people who want alcohol. The menu is huge, so it helps to know what you want beforehand or look at the menu before. Our main waitress was bilingual, but I feel like it helps to know some Mandarin or Cantonese if you eat here. Even though I know Tian Fu is known for its peppercorn dishes, I wanted to avoid any dishes with peppercorn because of past experiences. We ordered the kung pao chicken, dan dan noodles, and Sichuan Chili Wontons. That was a big mistake! I knew the wontons were going to be spicy, but didn't expect the kung pao chicken and dan dan noodles to have peppercorns. I had to go through so much water and would have gone through a bunch of rice if I ordered some. You definitely need rice when you eat here. I couldn't even eat more than a few bites of the dan dan noodles and spent the rest of the time picking out peppercorns from the dan dan noodles and kung pao chicken dishes. I wish I hadn't let the waitresses mix the dan dan noodles when it was dropped off. It got mixed by 2 different people. It seems like the only dishes that aren't this spicy and/or have peppercorns are vegetable, soup, and/or cold dishes. I wish I had known that beforehand, since the menu doesn't explain that the "Sichuan sauce" is basically peppercorns, but maybe that's assumed. I finished the wontons, but had to pack everything else to take home. The dan dan noodles ended up being more manageable over the next couple days when I ate them cold. For anyone who wants some spiciness, but not the full Sichuan numbing effect, I would recommend the wontons. The reason I'm still rating this pretty high is because despite my issues eating the dishes, they all had strong flavors and were cooked how they should have been. I just didn't realize peppercorn would be an ingredient in each of the dishes I ordered.
