This is a beautiful restaurant inside the Grand Hyatt
This is a beautiful restaurant inside the Grand Hyatt worthy of a special occasion. It has upscale vibes with a beautiful view over the pond with lots of Carp in the pond. Our server was super personable and we came here to celebrate a special occasion and she definitely made the experience incredible. Food-wise, the crab cakes were delicious and the ribeye was a highlight. The macadamia crusted fish was fine. Overall, we enjoyed the food, but found the price point a little too high to feel like it was worth coming back for. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to get a reservation here, but if you don't mind dropping $70 on an steak entree; Tidepools might be your vibe!
Be the first to ReplyGreat ambience and location.
Food is pricey but very good. Have I had a better steak at a comparable price elsewhere? But was it located in a prime location in Kauai? No. All in all an enjoyable experience.

Stayed at the Grand Hyatt and loved the ambience, food and service. Great portions and fresh ingredients.

Ambiance is lovely close to the beach and with the pool beneath but other than that the food is overpriced and poorly executed. Service was attentive and nice and they made recommendations. They bring out taro rolls but truthfully the just tasted like regular white bread. The polenta crusted scallops were just okay. The scallops were cooked well but the dish was served lukewarm which was immediately a turn off. The Hamachi sashimi was bland and severely overdressed with soy sauce and ponzu. The Hawaiian catch that evening was mahi as it often is (if I had a nickel for every time the daily catch at any Hawaiian restaurant is mahi I'd be rich haha). I am not a huge fan of mahi but I liked that it came with shellfish. The dish overall was good but not stellar. If you are staying at the Hyatt yes this is a convenient dining option but I'd recommend venturing off property for better more affordable food.

We had a great anniversary dinner with awesome food and a fantastic ambiance! Can't wait to go back next month!

Perfect place to enjoy being on Kauai. Juan was a fantastic server, the restaurant is set up beautifully to make each table feel special, and everything we ate was great. The Macadamia crusted fish was unique and delicious, scallops were great, drinks were fun, and dessert was good. Hoping to return in the future!

We chose this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday during our vacation in Kauai. Although our reservation was at 8:30 pm, we arrived at 5 pm feeling famished. Surprisingly, the staff was incredibly accommodating and seated us immediately. Let's talk about the food - it was truly exceptional! We started with a variety of appetizers including poke, beet salads, and the scallop dish, all of which were absolutely fantastic. As for the main course, we ordered the mahi, forbidden rice, and chicken, and every dish was cooked to perfection. And let's not forget about the dessert - it was out of this world! Our server, Martha, deserves special recognition for her outstanding service. She was not only friendly but went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable dining experience. The breathtaking view from the restaurant added to the overall ambiance, and we ended up spending a delightful 2.5 hours there. Overall, our experience at this restaurant was nothing short of excellent. From the attentive staff to the delicious food and stunning view, it was a truly memorable evening.

We came here for a special dinner and it was so delicious and definitely the perfect ending for our special day. We sat in one of the private tables surrounded by the koi fish. Service was good. Ambiance was beautiful. The Hawaiian Catch was one of the best things I ate on the island, everything was so tasty and fresh. I hope we make this a tradition!
Be the first to ReplyGod food and service and lovely unique ambiance.
Very expensive and a fairly limited menu'. Never had chicken piccata or francese with a cream sauce but it was good. Wheelchair access is difficult and circuitous.

Outstanding! The service and ambiance was absolutely perfect and our dinners were so good! The lamb chop appetizer was succulent and the salad was perfect; not overly dressed, just right! Our entrees were all top notch from steak to fish and I would be remiss if I didn't call out the warm bread...so good! We will be back!

Crab cakes! Try them, you won't be disappointed! And the small plate ribs ate delicious as well...good stop!

Excellent food and impeccable service! Everything was perfect as far as timing of food, water glasses constantly filled, attentive servers without being annoying. Dining area at night is a bit too dark though, I'd like to see what I'm eating.

Great service! The food is amazing. The bar is great. The view is amazing. Take the time to eat here.

The food was incredible! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was due to the check in process. Our reservation was at 5p for a party of four. Walked up to the hostess stand, checked us in, and stood there waiting for a response/instruction from the hostess--total blank stare? My response, "So, should we wait over there (pointing at the chairs near the hostess station)." Hostess looking at me bewildered, "Ugh, yes." We watched people with reservations at 5:15p check in and be seated. And, then 5:30p reservations checked in and were seated. At 5:25p, I asked the hostess how much longer would our wait be? She looked at me as if this was our first interaction. Gave her my name and reservation time again. She looked on her list...clearly never checked me in...and then asked, "Party of two?" ..."No, party of four for 5p. Remember I checked in with you when I arrived at 5p..." It was so awkward and unwelcoming. Maybe because we weren't a guest at the hotel? I live on the island and brought my outstate guest there for a nice dinner, not to mention the day before we spent over $2k at their spa. Real bummer.
Be the first to ReplyThe koi fish in your pond don't have enough oxygen.
They are stressed and gasping at the surface of the pond. Please fix this!! Hard to watch while eating.
Be the first to ReplyProbably our best meal on Kauai.
Taste, presentation, service and ambiance were outstanding. We started with the baby lamb chops which were perfectly grilled and served with a crรจme fraiche and mint sauce. I had the rib eye with a lobster tail and my husband had the Shutome. The steak was perfectly medium and tender. The bite of shutome I had was great. A highlight of the meal was the off-menu hot sauce. It's made with ghost peppers, habanero, and Thai chilies with what I am guessing is a papaya base. It's HOT, but tasty and complimented our meals perfectly. Do not try this sauce unless you are a true Chile head. It's very spicy. Another nice touch was they gave us a plate of treats for our anniversary. The restaurant sits on a giant koi pond which gives it the tide pool look. It's inside the Grand Hyatt, so if you gps directions, take them to the Grand Hyatt and not the restaurant itself. We did that the first time and the gps took us to the east side of the property.

Be the first to ReplyI have mixed feelings about this place.
We had a reservation for 8pm and arrived a few minutes before, to be told it was going to be "a few minutes" before our table was ready. It was a good 30 minutes later that we were finally seated, at which point I was somewhat annoyed and pretty hungry. Once we finally got seated, it took a while for our server to come over, which seemed to be a theme of the night. Everything was just so slow and took so long. I don't remember exactly what we got for entrees; I got a fish entrรฉe and my husband had a steak, but clearly our meals weren't special enough for me to remember. The best thing about this place is the ambiance and views. It's a beautiful location and I think would make a really special dinner locale if everything else was better. This was the last dinner of our vacation and while I enjoyed it well enough, I'm disappointed that our last meal was fairly forgettable.

Very yummy and an idyllic setting! We had the poke chips, crab cakes, island salad, ahi, pineapple upside down cake and molten lava cake!
Be the first to ReplyStaff were informed, personable, and prompt.
The views were unmatched. Gorgeous view of sunset and koi pond/ waterfall. They had enough room that our group of 8 didn't feel crowded. Dinner was phenomenal. We loved the taro rolls. Virgin Lava Flows and chocolate milks were a big hit with the young crowd. They enjoyed the kids filet with rice and broccoli. Generous portions. Hamachi, kalbi short ribs, scallops were amazing appetizers. My filet steak was tender, moist, and flavorful. My husband enjoyed his lobster tail over the fish. Malasadas and crรจme brรปlรฉe were the star desserts. Kids loved the POG ice cream. The upside down pineapple was a fun twist on a classic dessert. Would return. Good value for ambience and quality of food.
