Came here twice in a week because it is such a vibe.
I'm a proud NewYorkItalianAmerican and I like my Italian food served old-school style. There is no pretentiousness here. There is a classic wall-of-fame for all the autographed headshots of celebs and media personalities that have visited here.
Very authentic Italian.
Loved the drinks and food. Good neighborhood spot. I also enjoyed our servers who were Italian also. :)

We chose Topo Gigio the first time because it's close to Second City, where we had tickets for a show that evening. Since then, we've come back every trip to Chicago whether it's nearby or not because we just like it so much. The tab
Really good drinks and food.
We are out of towners and met friends from the area. The limoncello martini was delicious! We had grilled calamari, prosciutto di Parma apps. Dinner was tortellini dish & conchiglie Mediterranean and they were delicious! My only complaint is they
Food quality has been inconsistent each time I come here.
This time, the eggplant parm was cold and overcooked and the rigatoni was piping hot but too al dente, flavors were alright. Manager sucks and greedily chose to still have outdoor seating open while it's raining outside and a flood warning was i

They showed us an attitude because we did not want any alcohol beverages, and tried to persuade us to order other drinks like coffee. They threw the breads on our table. They expected us to move the plates for them to fit the upcoming dishes on our t

First time here - one of the best Italian restaurants I've reviewed - top 2 or 3 for sure. Reservations are a must! We were promptly seated. We began our evening with a perfect Espresso Martini poured table side - nice touch! A basket of fre

Excellent food, quality ingredients!
I visited this place with colleagues and we found everything to be excellent. They clearly use high-quality ingredients, and the difference in taste is noticeable.
Great Meal
Had an excellent dinner here. My husband and I shared a bottle of Prosecco and a panzanella salad, which were very good. I had the stuffed chicken in a mushroom sauce and my husband the eggplant Parmesan- both were so tasty, and the portions were h
The worst
Mediocre food and unbelievably rude manager. Yelling obscenities in the middle of the restaurant and getting in the face of a 70 year old woman
Party of 12 enjoyed…
We came with a large party, had made reservations, a couple months before hand. They split the tables up as they told us they would have to go and that was fine. Everyone seemed to love their food. I had the eggplant Parmesan. I was only slightly dis
A lunch for the ages
Here we are, seven of us, sitting down to lunch at Topo Gigio, the popular Italian restaurant at 1516 North Wells Street in Chicago's Old Town neighborhood. But I'm the only one who has dined at Topo Gigio before so I was anxious to see how
Perfect first dinner in Chicago
Fantastic night with family- first time here for me but clearly a favorite for those I was with and I can see why. Very busy on a midweek But great service amazing food you could taste the love
Good food, terrible service
Apparently you shouldn’t go to a place as a single diner…. Even when you arrive at 5:15 and they aren’t too busy. While the food was really good, the server couldn’t have cared less about me. He ran through the specials and took my drink or

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Topo Gigio Ristorante Chicago at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Topo Gigio Ristorante Chicago page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* DistinguishedTree58, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's $200 bid.
* DistinguishedTree58 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to DistinguishedTree58 for any questions Peter may have as DistinguishedTree58 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* DistinguishedTree58 now uses their connections at Topo Gigio Ristorante Chicago to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If DistinguishedTree58 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, DistinguishedTree58 receives the $200 reward which is credited to DistinguishedTree58's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Topo Gigio Ristorante Chicago!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
