Trestle Pop Up @ The Vault San Francisco Reviews from The Last Year

We've come here for 2 birthdays and a NYE and every single time we are so impressed by the food, but also the friendly service. My favorite restaurant in the city hands down.
Overall, I really enjoyed Trestle's solid meals and quality
Overall, I really enjoyed Trestle's solid meals and quality service. I like that gratuity is included to ensure the great staff gets tipped and I don't have to calculate it myself. The menu tonight is for Restaurant Week, so the pasta course is included. I think normally pasta is an add on so I appreciated getting to sample the superb dish without the charge. Definitely worth a try even if you had to pay though. My only note would be I would love to see them add nonalcoholic beverages to the drink menu. Fireside Bread Crisp with a light creamy butter. Great for dipping in the soup! But beware, it can be quite filling. Green Garlic & Potato Soup The soup itself, the broth, is hearty. The croutons give you something to sink your teeth into. Not too hard. Neither was the asparagus. Crunchy, but not too hard. A thoroughly delightful app. Wild Mushroom Risotto Smooth, buttery, tastes like a wine finish. Might be the tarragon? It's so refreshing. Full disclosure: I have never been a mushroom person and the mushroom pieces are large. One was huge but it went down well! Braised Beef Short Rib The meat is incredibly tender, but I didn't love the flavor nor that of the mashed potatoes. Could it be the olive oil in the potatoes? I'm not sure. The star to me was the broccolini. The sauce paired so well with the perfectly cooked vegetable. They are all actually really good if eaten all together in one bite. Yogurt Panna Cotta Crack an oatmeal cookie on top the Panna Cotta. The crispness of the cookie works well with the sweetness of the fruit and creamy Panna Cotta. A fine dessert.
My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate our anniversary
My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate our anniversary and tried out the SF restaurant week menu. We got one of everything and each dish was absolutely delicious, but the standouts was the crispy skin branzino and the soup. Definitely get the bread too. The service and ambiance were amazing as well. The staff was so attentive and even added little happy anniversary chocolates to our desserts. It was the sweetest touch and showed how much they care.
Absolutely stellar! We loved our experience at Trestle.
We tried every thing on the tasting menu and it was all delightful. Good amount of food for the price.
Came here yesterday for my birthday celebrations with my
Came here yesterday for my birthday celebrations with my husband and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves from the ambience, the food, the drinks, the service. Did the four course menu for SF Restaurant Week, and each had a beer or wine. Great beer and wine list. Because the current menu has a choice of 2 for each meal, we ordered one of each so we could try a bit of everything - that's the way to go unless you have food intolerances or strong preferences etc.! Starters were good - salad was yum but nothing special, pea soup was delicious. Pasta dishes were the winners of the night. Both cooked perfectly and so flavorful. Mains were on the smaller side - brazino so crispy and lots of flavor, beef was yum too but the brazino was better :) Dessert - the chocolate cake was rich and complex with various flavors of coffee, hazelnut, mint, honeycomb crumble, the strawberry panna cotta was a nice balance to the choc cake. Service is delightful. Restaurant filled up very quick and was full by 545pm. Ambiance is cozy, modern, relaxed. Good value for money for a special occasion meal.
Would have gotten five stars but for an issue.
First thought this is it's a friendly traditional San Francisco looking interior, the exterior though is very minimalist and could easily be passed by. It reminds me of the mysterious exterior of the Avery (sadly now closed) even more minimalist, but slightly dirty. One thing neglected by everyone is the sidewalk outside, since the city won't pressure wash the sidewalks, it would help for every restaurant or business to do that twice a year. Never a good look to not keep it clean and presentable. Minimalist I get, but don't neglect the exterior. Service was fantastic and quick. No long waits for the waiter or waitress, the captain actively participated in service and was friendly as well. Kudos for the complementary bread and butter sir solo dinners which started things off great. I had the Little Gem salad to start, very good especially the sunflower crumble that gave the salad a crunch, though the cucumbers were just as crispy. Next on the menu was the highlight of the evening, the Campanella Bolognese with beef ragu and Calabrian chile. This was so good I could have had another bowl. This should definitely be an option under Mains. My main was the Steak au Poive with delicious and delicate fried potato strips, like French fries but larger. The accompanying asparagus was crisp and tasty. The Bourbon Peppercorn Cream sauce was fantastic. The only miss was that they did not ask how I wanted the steak, I prefer closer to medium, but this was an the rare to medium rare side, which, since it was quality beef did not matter. But the beef came out only barely warm, so that was disappointing. Otherwise an excellent dish, especially the sauce. Definitely going back for the Bolognese though. Dessert was their Uougurt Pannacotta with Lace Oatmeal cookie. A good wine selection, I definitely recommend the La Cuadrilla stay and the Groundwork Cabernet Sauvignon. Very much recommended, and it's open Mondays!
Hello SF Restaurant Week! I was able to try everything on
Hello SF Restaurant Week! I was able to try everything on the menu and recommend the following: - ask for the bread and delicious butter - soup/salad - both were excellent but the soup was something else (rich and creamy and delicious). I especially liked the croutons. - I preferred the risotto over the bolognese (smaller than I thought we'd get) - I loved the branzino. It was light yet flavorful and the veggies paired nicely with the fish - get the chocolate cake! Service was great. Ambiance was okay - almost felt like a pop-up restaurant. Could have used more elbow room. Standard 20% tip and SF Mandate applies. Even though portions were on the smaller side, we still felt pretty full. Looking forward to trying more dishes.

Visited this establishment for the first time yesterday and was pleasantly impressed by the delicious meal and cozy atmosphere! Will definitely be back.
Food was absolutely superb, great tastes and for the price
Food was absolutely superb, great tastes and for the price it's the best deal found in the Bay so far. However be aware that the service is super quick and you might be rushed to the exit.
if you want to feel like you've just entered someone's cozy
if you want to feel like you've just entered someone's cozy home for a fresh and delicious 3-course menu at an affordable price, trestle is the PERFECT spot for you. when I tell you I'm OBSESSED, I really mean it! at just $42, you get to choose an starter, entree, and dessert (and add a $12 pasta supplement if you'd like) all featuring seasonal ingredients no one day is the same, with changing daily menus, so your visit will be unique to the day The service was also exceptional, with the friendliest waiters who were not only the sweetest but so attentive in setting up for the next course. Can't wait for my next visit!
The food was absolutely beautifully presented.
There is a 3 course tasting menu and there are vegetarian options. The carrot soup was to die for. We added a veggie lasagna for an additional fee. The main course was steak and scallops - we shared both and I could not decide on a favorite! The deserts were a gorgeous but disappointing. That is the reason I review them as a 4! The staff was attentive! I would return!
Trestle has become one of my favorite restaurants in the
Trestle has become one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay, hands down. It is a fine dining experience at a budget price! The food is exceptional, with masterful flavor combinations and unique ingredients that you would find at a fine dining establishment. It is no wonder it is on the Michelin guide for places to try in SF. I have eaten at Trestle several times, and everything I have tried has been delicious. I love that their menu rotates weekly, so you're always trying something new no matter how often you're going back. Do not skip out on the toasted bread with whipped butter. I am absolutely obsessed with this bread. I learned that you can ask for a second helping of the bread, so take advantage! Service has also been exemplary. Trestle has always been very accommodating of my allergies and can easily remove or substitute ingredients in dishes without me having to miss out on the dish entirely (this happens too often at other restaurants sadly). I also love that they offer vegetarian and gluten free options as well. I'm impressed that a restaurant with a pre fixe menu can be so accommodating to different types of allergies and diet preferences. The ambience is also top notch. It's a bustling restaurant, but the space is small and quiet so you can actually enjoy conversation with your party without the distractions of loud music or too many people walking by you constantly. Trestle is the spot I like to bring people to for celebrations or special occasions, like visiting SF for the first time. It is the epitome of the amazing food scene in SF and the Bay, and I'm happy I get to make this restaurant a regular!
Really excellent tasting menu for the price.
Service was great, and they had a surprisingly excellent (though a bit pricey) beer menu. Particularly enjoyed the burrata salad. Would go back.
nice ambiance and good price for a three course pre fixe
nice ambiance and good price for a three course pre fixe menu. came to celebrate anniversary and they had a custom dessert/note
I love this restaurant and the concept so much.
We came here on our anniversary last year and loved it so much we came back again this year :') it's the perfect place for a couple that's slightly indecisive and loves to try everything on the menu. There's three courses and two options for each course, along with a supplemental pasta course you can add on for an additional $12. We ordered the two different options per course so we could taste everything, along with one pasta dish. We made a reservation ahead of time for a Saturday and were seated immediately. The restaurant is dim and intimate, so it's great for date nights. My favorites on our menu were the Green Garlic Soup, Duo of Salmon, and Dark Chocolate Brownie. Funnily enough, my partner's favorites were all the other options: Burrata & Baby Broccoli Salad, Pork Milanese, and Olive Oil Cake. The supplemental Asparagus Cacio e Pepe was also delicious and so creamy and rich with the confit egg yolk on top. I loved that each dish was presented so beautifully and had a variety of flavors and textures, but at the same time the dishes were super comforting. For example, the Green Garlic Soup reminded me of a baked potato, and I loved tasting the different textures of the cheddar, bacon lardons, and the scallions in different creamy spoonfuls. Similarly, the Pork Milanese was cooked to perfection and reminded my partner of a nostalgic Hong Kong cafe pork chop. The sauce gribiche was deliciously tart and creamy and paired with the pork so well. The desserts came with little chocolate pieces that said "happy anniversary," which was so cute. The restaurant even gave us a handwritten letter congratulating us on our anniversary, which was such a sweet touch to our experience. Trestle really went out of their way to add these small touches to make our evening feel special. Highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a fancier night out that won't break the budget. We'll definitely be back for our next anniversary.
Amazing experience and the food was incredible! I will
Amazing experience and the food was incredible! I will definitely go back to Trestle for the vibe, food and excellent service!
Went there during the valentines day special and the food
Went there during the valentines day special and the food was extremely mediocre and unaesthetic. The servers were not friendly at all and the restaurant itself was very small with again, a very mediocre ambiance. Not worth the money.
Ate here about a week ago.
I was excited, read all about it. Reasonably priced prix-fixe, sign me up. I unfortunately got the downside of this business model. It wasn't that I didn't like the taste or the flavors or anything subjective, rather I didn't want to eat it. It was phoned-in, a disappointment. My guess, off-night, somebody a bit more hungover than usual. I'm sure this place is capable of making some delicious food but what I got, you don't want. By the time dessert was arriving I was dying to get out of there to find something worth the calories. It's not like you can just order more, if you wanted but you wouldn't. You can add a pasta dish. It was apparent early-on this was a sunk cost. Great wine.
Cute spot for date nights or small groups! Made
Cute spot for date nights or small groups! Made reservations here for an early Saturday evening, and it was pretty easy to get a spot for 2. Walk-ins are a bit more difficult as the host let us know that they're usually booked out with reservations until around 9PM on weekends. It's a small space with mainly 2-seater booths. I was interested in Trestle because they offer a pretty value 3-4 course dinner and I heard great things about the food. There are 2 options for every course you choose, and because I was with my partner, we were able to try a little bit of everything. We also added on a mushroom risotto for $12. Everything was fairly good! My favorites were the kabocha soup, risotto, and hot chocolate tart for dessert. The only thing I would say about the food was that all the savory items were a tad on the salty side. I believe they change their menu pretty often, so I'd be curious if this stays the same amid changes. Besides that, pretty enjoyable and I felt that it was a lot of food for the money.
Went here for a late Valentine's dinner and it was amazing!
Went here for a late Valentine's dinner and it was amazing! Every course was delicious and the service was impeccable. Definitely order the bread with your food and the post-meal coffee.
Small but Amazing
We dined here for dinner. Small neighborhood place. Prix fixe place with great menus. 2 choices for each of 3 (or 4) courses. Fantastic flavors. Great service. They allow BYOB for a reasonable fee. Very reasonable prices. My only negative was that the space is VERY noisy.
Fast Food
The food tasted good especially the carrot and coriander soup.with granny smith balls! The duck was lovely but a small portion My only criticism was the speed with which the meal is served. It’s verging in fast food. The limited menu means all meals are ready to go. As a solo diner you take more notice of the proceedings. They really try to get maximum buck from their tables!
Very pleasantly surprised!
Delicious 3-course menu prepared in a more French/Belgian style. Best chocolate brownie on our tour through the States. Served quickly and friendly. Highly recommended in San Francisco!
Italian oasis in San Fran
We were hiking thru the touristy parts of Fisherman’s Wharf passing time, taking in the sights and sounds of the city. And as we headed towards Trestle, the neighborhood turned nicer and quieter. And in the shadow of the TransAmerica building we found the restaurant on the corner of Columbus. Had to wait a bit so as not to take the table by the door in the walkway and the cold. But the wait was worth it. The interior of the small space is cozy and welcoming. The restaurant does a modified pre-fixe. One choice for vegetarian/pescatarian. And another with some meat. Pasta dishes can be added for a $12 up charge and are shareable. Nice wine list. Definitely r,ember to ask for the grilled bread and whipped butter. No charge but you have to ask for it. Food was really good. Had the corn soup. The basil chicken. And the deserts were yummy. All in all a nice time. Nice wait staff. And great atmosphere. Worth it.
