Ummo has a cool, comfy but modern vibe inside.
The drinks are delicious, cold and strong dirty martini and the espresso martini is presented so nicely. The panne della casa was so good and definitely recommend as a starter bread. The vodka pasta and cacio e Pepe were delicious. The restaurant wa

I ordered wrong last night--the caesar salad is not good and the smoked cauliflower is meh. My parter got the carbonara pasta which I tried a bite of and it was pretty good (definitely better than my choices) and we shared the pane della casa bread w

We came for the great weekends happy hour details (even on Saturday until 6:30!). Only at the bar, which is a lovely place to sit if you can snag a seat. I got the Tzuco margarita to start, which was tasty and refreshing. We ordered every food item o

Came here with a group of 13 and was shocked to be charged $95 for a cake cutting fee on top of already overpriced, mediocre food. According to their own website, the cake cutting fee is listed as $5 per person, which should have been $65. On top of

Terrific atmospheric layout with a hit and miss menu. Lamb Tortellini and Meatballs were well thought through - thereafter - they started to sputter creating a one and done experience.
We were sat down at the table and the server was friendly.
We then asked for the happy hour menu and her attitude completely changed, she was not willing to serve us and when we asked to order she ignored us and walked away. I mentioned this to the host stand and they said they would send the manager over an

TLDR: It's contemporary Italian (American) which isn't quite what I was in the mood for. We came here on a Wednesday night and the place was pretty empty. Really cool ambience and decor! The server was friendly and the service was adequa
Ummo is a contemporary Italian restaurant in River North.
Compared to the other Italian spots nearby, Ummo is much more innovative from atmosphere to menu. I've been three times and will go again. Ummo has two floors, with drastically different atmospheres. Floor 1 is the dim lit ultra contemporary fl

I agree with the sentiment expressed in an extremely detailed Reddit review: "Ummo is good, not great." The Redditor claims that Ummo is "somewhat affordable," to which I say, "perhaps, but the value proposition wasn't t
Solid Eats, Cool Vibe
Solid and delicious food! We met friends here for dinner and Ummo has a fund atmosphere with not an overwhelming menu. Loved the octopus, lasagna and seafood pasta - - definitely a cool vibe and service was pretty good and fast.

Best to start off with the high points, which were the arancini for an appetizer (rating of 5) and the service throughout (rating of 4). My companion had the chicken fiorentine while I opted for the lasagna. Both dishes were pedestrian in composition
It isn't the Dining Room, but...
I've been dining at Chicago restaurants since the 1960s and I've never experienced a more elegant eatery than the Dining Room at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, which closed in 1991. Ummo is described as a cozy Italian restaurant, certainly not as
Best Italian spot in Chicago
I popped into Ummo for happy hour recently, and I’ve gotta say, it was such a great time. The vibe is relaxed but still has that nice, upscale feel. I started with the Arancini, and wow, they were amazing. Crispy on the outside, creamy inside—jus
Amazing experience!!
Ummo Chicago is a modern and cool restaurant. The place is nice, with a dark vibe and lights that create a great atmosphere. The food is Italian, but with a modern twist. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the service was really attentive and
Mediocre at best.
*I’d like to preface the following with the fact the staff did try fixing the wrong with comp’d drinks and an 18% discount overall. But I didn’t go to dinner seeking a discount or a free drink.* Wife and I were really excited to try this place
10/10 foodie find
We had a great experience at UMMO. The restaurant itself is super chic and all of the food is unique. Everything we had was super good. I would most definitely go back!
Small Portions, Sneaky 3% "Administration Fee"
Good food but small portions and watch out for the sneaky 3% "Administration Fee". We averaged $100 per person for a party of 4 and left hungry, even after dessert. The food is tasty but the portions are small. Additionally, this restaur
Good food, but check what ends up on your credit card
We got a last-minute reservation here but this meant they could only sit us at the bar which was a little crowded and noisy. But this provided good entertainment as we could watch the head bartender, who was a great character, shake all manner of co
Connect with users posting reservations for UMMO Chicago
AppointmentTrader is a community-driven platform where users can exchange their reservations or leverage their personal relationships with UMMO Chicago. Buyers can make informed decisions using automated seller ratings, which reflect past transactions and reliability.
Each posting on AppointmentTrader shows you which user submitted it and along with that provides a trackrecord of that user which indicates how much experience
the user has and how many percent of their transactions resulted in them issuing a refund.
If there is no user posting that fits your schedule, you can bid on your preferred time.
Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to UMMO Chicago at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the UMMO Chicago page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.
That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.
Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* CompellingStation67, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's $200 bid.
* CompellingStation67 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to CompellingStation67 for any questions Peter may have as CompellingStation67 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* CompellingStation67 now uses their connections at UMMO Chicago to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If CompellingStation67 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, CompellingStation67 receives the $200 reward which is credited to CompellingStation67's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at UMMO Chicago!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
