Food was terrible.
Had the pork chop, Bibb salad, and ribs. Pork chop was torched and nearly inedible, the ribs were a terrible cut and mostly fat, and the Bibb was drenched in a heavy dressing and the lettuce was clearly old and decaying. Really disappointing
Be the first to ReplyOur friends highly recommended this place and we finally
Our friends highly recommended this place and we finally went for brunch there today , March 17th. It was absolutely terrible . Our server was not very friendly , didn't smile once . Said his name was James . Very unobservant . We placed our order , and it took about 25 minutes for the food to come out . I noticed a table of 6 in front of us placed their order after we did . We were only 3 people . The table of 6 get their food before us , and were done eating by the time we got our food. I got eggs ( a two egg scramble) which was $22 , and minus the cheese it normally comes with. I had to send them back as they were undercooked. This came with no apology. Btw , the eggs were just that . Nothing accompanying them except a sprinkling of chives . No potatoes, no nothing. My wife had a burger which she said was good , but the fries were terrible. Our daughter had chicken , and again , nothing accompanying it except some sauce over it . Final words on this place is it's an absolute rip off ! Our total bill with a 20% tip which our server did not deserve was $150. They even charged us $5 for each coffee we had , and we had 4 very small cups. Don't go to this place unless you just want to throw your money away . The only thing good was the space itself.
Be the first to ReplyFood and service here are always excellent.
It's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Our bartender Sophia was so kind and knowledgeable. She clearly took a lot of pride in the restaurant and her service. Great ambiance. Very "New York" with lots of style. This place is always a favorite for lunch.
Be the first to ReplyCame in on a lark - was sat at the upstairs bar.
Albert was tending, and he was a fantastic host, assisted by Olivia. Together they provided the perfect evening dinner experience: recommendations on the right courses (the broccoli was especially excellent, but I also recommend the lamb and the chocolate cherry dessert), an off-the-menu cocktail that was more herbal as I desired, and a bit of education about the variety of aromas and flavors that Gin can provide. Behind the bar was busy but I never felt unattended to. They were both excellent hosts (special props to Albert), and I hope to run into them again!

Food wasn't all that pretty much a diner/cafe might visit but not to sure hope things change
Be the first to ReplyA classic American restaurant.
A solid option for date night for the atmosphere/setting but food-wise is nothing special. Food: https://www.unionsquarecafe.com/menus/#dinner-menu We did 2 pastas (the entree portion which is +$10), the honey glazed carrots, and roasted broccoli. For dessert, we ordered the baklava sundae + tiramisu. The food is solid albeit nothing special. Food mildly overpriced. Ambience: upscale, dressing business casual is fine, especially festive during the holidays because they have a nice Christmas tree and the staircase is nicely decorated Reservation: Definitely make one Service: It's fine, average
Be the first to ReplyThe level of service is fantastic at Union Square Cafe.
The room is incredible and beautiful for that NYC experience. But... if you come, do yourself a favor and get the Pork Chop! I am from the pork capital, and this is the BEST CHOP I have ever had. Everything about the dish was perfection. Great Place

Loved it! The food & drinks are great! When I get back into NYC , I'm definitely going back again! The vibe is great! If you're a sports fan, it's a great place to watch games and hang with friends. The service is amazing!
Be the first to ReplyAmazingly good food, across the whole meal.
The service was personal, generous & attentive. It was our 35th wedding anniversary & we were treated royally, with menus for the table with our names on them & complementary champagne and amuse buche on our arrival. Our guests were amazed "It's nice to be at the VIP table..." one of them said!

Went here late last night and experienced some of the best service I've experienced in a very long time. We were at the bar waiting for our table. I was attempting to find an opening at the bar so I could order drinks, and one of the bar employees noticed, walked out from behind the bar, and asked me what he could get for me. I ordered drinks and also mentioned we were starving. He brought us bread and nuts along with our drinks. Later, during dinner, I was trying to get our (excellent) server's attention. A different server noticed she was occupied and came right over to help out. Food was great. Vibe was great. Service was extraordinary.
Be the first to ReplyFood was mediocre.
Fish was dry and pasta lacked salt. The interior is beautiful and the place is an institution but left disappointed.

Three friends and I went for dinner recently, and we all agreed we'd be happy to go back, although we're not planning our next visit. We had four appetizers, three entrees, two desserts, a $50-$60 caviar special, and some drinks. The total, with a 20% tip, came to about $510 (about $125/person). Food was good overall. The broccoli appetizer the apple cake dessert were highlights. Unfortunately, some of the dishes, like the fusilli al funghi and the mille-feuille weren't flavorful, and I'd suggest avoiding them. The atmosphere and the service were friendly and lively.

Simply delicious! The cafe had such a wonderful ambiance and food was out of this word. We started with the bar nuts and chips. They were so flavorful and tasty. We also had the ravioli and a few other pastas. Sooo good. But the pork takes the cake. It was maybe the best piece of meat I've ever had...seriously. And then we had cake. Apple cake. It was a amazing.
Be the first to ReplyMy opinion, best restaurant I've been to.
Go to spot for perfect night. I've never seen such amazing service.

We went for restaurant week and it was unbelievable! The whole staff was very kind, especially our waitress Olivia. We were so torn by so many different menu items because they all sounded so good and she was so so wonderful in helping guide us. We ordered a bottle of wine as well and it was delicious. The highlights were the burger and the citrus salad. Both were absolutely to die for!
Be the first to ReplyPerfectly cooked medium rare burger for $29.
Fries were thin and crunchy. Coffee was great. My friend's loved their meals also - their meat was done perfectly medium rare, which is tough for lamb since it's risky.Staff was very professional. Venue is clean. Top notch lunch spot for me.
Be the first to ReplyAlthough I live in Los Angeles, my wife and I have been
Although I live in Los Angeles, my wife and I have been coming to the Union Square Cafe for decades now at their various locations, always enjoying its excellent food and service. I accordingly recommended the restaurant to my 39 year old daughter, also a Los Angeles resident, for a business dinner she was having with some NY associates. Mt daughter had booked a table for five (their party) almost a month prior to that night but when they arrived were told that the only available table seated four. They rightly refused to be seated until a table for their entire party could be arranged which, by the way, took less than five minutes. Clearly there was a table available all along but no biggie...yet. After they were seated the hostess came over to the table and told them they had to leave the restaurant immediately because one of the gentlemen in the party (a 70 year old lawyer) had used a "terrible" word (so bad she cold not repeat it) when talking to another host about getting the table they had actually booked. After getting the manager to straighten the situation out they were advised that the word this gentleman had used was "sissy.' So, first of all, it was the host who was, instead of being even remotely apologetic for denying them the table they had booked, the rude one. Secondly, knowing this gentleman, if he was going to curse out the host to begin with "sissy" is hardly the word he would have used (didn't that work go out in the ninth grade). When my daughter related this story to me I frankly was not surprised because two nights prior my wife and I got stuck in traffic, called the restaurant to tell them it was possible we would be, literally, 5 to 10 minutes late, and were rudely, perhaps by this same hostess, told the table could not be held (fortunately we made it in time). I was quite frankly shocked by this hostess's attitude. Your food is great, which is why we keep coming back, but you need to train your staff properly and get rid of those who don't know how to exercise simple courtesies toward paying customers.

Very drafty, had linen napkins stuffed in door which didn't help. Restaurant is pretty, but looks aren't everything. We went for restaurant week & confirmed they offer it on Saturday, I asked the server if the menu was the special & was told only Mon - Fri. The manager came over & confirmed & didn't offer to do anything, instead just let us leave. A big difference since Danny Meyer left.
Be the first to ReplyBeware Restaurant Week! I live in NYC and enjoy restaurant
Beware Restaurant Week! I live in NYC and enjoy restaurant week which nowadays lasts a month. At Union Square, menu states Restaurant Week lunch $45- choose appetizer and pasta or main entree we did just that. Our waitress said our appetizer choice of oysters would have a supplement. This was not mentioned anywhere on the menu but we agreed. When the check came the entire lunch was priced ala carte. I did not want to ruin a friendly afternoon meal so I said nothing but felt taken. It perhaps didn't help that we were also seated in the balcony near the restrooms. I am so displeased with the whole dining experience, I won't be back. If you are interested in a lovely Restaurant Week lunch go the Bar at the Modern instead.

Make a reservation!!! And enjoy the meal and experience here. I came here for a work lunch and it was packed. We still waited about 10 minutes before being seated. The Arctic char was delicious and sizable portion. Nice wine selection and good strong black coffee to finish off the meal.

Food: 4/5 (except for the chicken which was cooked to perfection)Service: 6/5 our waitress was super attentive to us and kind. She always came by to fill our water glasses, asked if we had any feedback on the food so she could possibly let the chef know before the next meal. She changed our plates and utensils often and was all around a great waitress! We came here at 8pm after we saw Spiderman nearby and wanted something to eat. For 8pm on a Monday it was still pretty busy. The tartare was on the under seasoned side, it needed a bit more acidity. The skate wing was fried well and the meat was still juicy but needed a sauce. The duck breast felt very heavy and was under salted. Our waitress ended up bringing maldon salt over to let us season it to our liking. The pasta was cooked perfectly but I would have liked a larger portion size for that price. The chicken was the winner ย of the night with a super crispy crunchy skin and perfectly cooked dark meat underneath. The sauce was a great pair with preserved lemon. If you're in the area, definitely check out this restaurant or make a reservation online!
Be the first to ReplyHave you ever tasted something that after one bite it
Have you ever tasted something that after one bite it immediately went into the top five restaurants you've ever gone to? Have you ever had a meal that made you discuss every great meal you've ever had? Have you ever had service so great that you wanted to write home about it? If not, come here. If yes, you've been here. I've come to Union Square Cafe only a couple of times, but each time has been a stellar experience. The food is absolutely, hands-down the best in the area. It's expertly prepared, fresh, and so full of flavor. If you mention food allergies, the staff knows exactly what you can and cannot have, and if they're not sure they actually ask. More, they take it all seriously. You love to see it. Price wise, it's a little more expensive than your standard restaurant, but here's what you get for that price: - a well paid staff- a great meal- a great atmosphere- a well paid staffThey're doing well with the pandemic, and I sincerely hope they keep thriving just like they were before this and after. Union Square Cafe and the whole Union Square Hospitality Group represent the best in dining in New York City.
