Nice Ethiopian food
Small dining area but we visited in the mid afternoon so it wasn't full. Good menu and good service. Having lived in Ethiopia for many years my standards for Ethiopian food are very high but the food at Zeni to be quite good.

Loved this place, Excellent and authentic taste. Reasonable prices. Great service. Was visiting the area, wish we had one close to home!

This cuisine is one of a hidden gem. Injera (fermented teff flour) is so delicious and fulfilling. There are a tons of options to pick from. Ordering combo is always a wise decision to test your taste palette. Honestly there is nothing that anyone could hate. Food is really delicious, healthy and you can taste the freshness - mainly lentils, green chard, chilli. Great vegetarian and meat options. I have been going here for 5 years on and off. It was great to be back after pandemic.

We were in San Jose for a conference and ate at Zeni's. We shared a vegetarian combo and a meat combo with a side salad and spiced Ethiopian tea. The platters were quite filling and delicious with ample injera to scoop up the dishes. Prices were quite reasonable - we spent just over $40 for the two of us.

I had no previous experience in tasting Ethiopian cuisine in my life. I had a chance to taste for the first time in this restaurant. There was an online table reservation by which my waiting time was considerably lessened. The ambiance was very nice and comfortably warm during this winter. The quality of the food was good and waiters were receptive. I was fully satisfied with the restaurant.

The food was tasty. The service was friendly and the prices quite reasonable . Three of us ate as much as we could for 40 dollars. The unlimited injeera were flavorful but served at room temperature. The two hot side dishes were spicy without being extremely hot.
I really enjoyed the paintings and sculptures which were tastefully done.
All of us would surely return.
Unassuming in every way, but wonderful
Popular with the local Ethiopian community (always a good sign), this rather modest and very popular place serves up good Ethiopian food in a communual manner, order a selection of meats/pulses etc all served on a large Injera, plus several more for you to eat your meal with. There are limited numbers of traditional seating spaces, so you need to reserve early if you want those. But whichever way you dine the food is lovely - just fantastic.

We had lunch here and tried their vegetarian fare. The food was a nice change and I sampled Ethiopian beer for the very first time. Excellent beer indeed!

Enjoyed authentic Ethiopian food. their injiraas are too good. Had Meat combination also tried Ye Dera Wot, everything was wonderful. Only thing I don't like is service, it took half an hour for the initial serve.

Zeni’s is one of our favorite restaurants and we try to stop by whenever we are in San Jose. Our favorite order is a veggie combo with fresh salad and yebeg tibs (lamb) sizzling. The flavors are unique and the injera to be used as a utensil brings an air of authenticity. This restaurant is quite a find and you will not be disappointed.

Went for dinner with extended family... we had ordered veg platter for all with some sambussa (veg puff)... awesome food... reminded of Indian food... lentils and spinach veg were pretty much same... bread was only different... my 5 year old chaps enjoyed a lot...
Well worth the money
