ZIGU Honolulu Reviews from The Last Year

I love the atmosphere of the restaurant, it's a hidden gem in Waikiki! Their food is so fresh and have lots of vegetables that you are satisfied after you eat not you don't feel heavy! We tried Ahi Katsu, Moringa noodle and pizza and all of them were excellent quality! I love that they support local farm too! Will come back again for sure!

Friendly staff welcomed us as they quickly guided us to our table. The Hawaiian ahi cutlet was the star of the show with the poke and tempura close 2nd and 3rd in the line up. We will definitely return sometime soon!

I'm always looking for unique dishes so when I saw the photos for the watercress tofu salad and spicy soba noodles, I decided to go only to learn they stopped serving the noodles a couple of months ago. But the tofu salad was worth it. The watercress was a bit bitter and there was way too much of it for the amount of tofu to greens ratio. Ended up leaving about half of the greens and inhaling the silky, nutty tofu. I'd still go back for it. Instead of the noodles, I went for the chirashi bowl with a side of their fresh uni. The uni was delicious, but the chirashi was underwhelming. Plenty of great sushi joints in Seattle so I don't need to try a regular sashimi-type meal. While the fish was good, nothing special about it. I would give it 3 stars, but the 4th is for the go-back factor and good service. I'd go back for the tofu and maybe try something else on the menu.

We visited at the end of April and seating outside in their back patio was comfortable. Ryosuke took very good care of my husband, 1-year old, & me. I noted that we were celebrating our anniversary & babymoon, and he made sure to make our dining experience special. He was not irritated by our toddler at all, and he made sure we had everything we needed. Food was fresh and delicious. We made it during happy hour. Thanks for a wonderful experience! We plan to return next time we're in Waikiki.
We loved the ambience.
Service was very personalized and lightning-swift. Pricey, but well worth it.

Great food, great quality, customer service! Honestly, what more can you ask for? Each time me, my family, and my friends have dined in, or ordered take-out, I always leave feeling extremely pleased with our interactions with the staff. Their hospitality is unmatched and I can't sing them enough praises. The first time I dined in (after ordering take out multiple times prior) was the first time my boyfriend and I have eaten at a restaurant with our (almost) toddler at the time. We've dined at restaurants when she was younger and slept through most of the meal, so the anticipation of eating a at a restaurant with a now, very active and curious pre-toddler gave me a lot of anxiety lol. But the host, our server, and busser were so kind and understanding, possibly even obsessed with my baby? Haha. When we ordered our food and I asked for a side of rice for the baby, they even gave us a baby spoon! Okay, now on to the food... the quality has remained consistent and I have only ever been more than satisfied with my meal. My favorite to-go item is their Mochiko Chicken Plate which comes with a side of kale and potato salad, plus a dip for the chicken. Their chicken is always cooked to perfection and never dry. I also love their rolls, and honestly every item that I've tried on the menu so far! My only small complaint is that for some reason, it takes servers a very long time to get back to the table to refill drinks and take additional orders. That being said, I recommend ordering everything at once.
Zigu is a hidden pleasant gem amongst all the noise in
Zigu is a hidden pleasant gem amongst all the noise in Waikiki. Zigu strives to only fresh, locally sourced ingredients -- and you can definitely taste the difference! We came on Friday evening and were the only ones dining in, which made it very intimate and quiet. We were able to enjoy their outdoor ambiance. It's a nice surprise and unexpected when you first walk in. PARKING: FREE! Woohoo. (Validated parking available at Hyatt Centric with a purchase of $30 or more.) Parking on the 6th floor. Close short walk and convenient. FOOD: Hawaiian Ahi Cutlet ($26) 4/5 --the Ahi was bland/underwhelming at first bite, but once you mix it with the sesame kale salad and egg tartar, it mingles quite well together. Delicious! Agedashi Aloha Tofu ($11.5) 5/5 --this was the highlight of the dishes. Sweet and savory soft fried tofu from Aloha Tofu Factory. Melts in your mouth. I recommend this dish! Hurricane Fries ($9) 2/5 --this hit the mark for us. It was too salty for our liking since the added soy sauce with furikake and salt was too much. The fries also could have been crispier. Better if you have a group of people to share if you like fries. They give you hot Big Island Mamaki Tea at the end of your meal to help with digestion. I love that! Nowhere else we've been does this. The service was excellent! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back again and try other dishes :)
The food is so good.
I can't even explain. Just go here. It will blow your mind. The chef takes traditional Japanese fare and adds a unique Hawaiian flare to it. Straight amazing. It's located off the busy street of Kuhio in a quaint old building with so much character with a romantic patio. Great for a date night.
Great Japanese restaurant off the beaten path in Waikiki.
Huge fan of their spicy edamame

Zigu Overall: **** Recommended **** Food: **** Value: *** Waikiki prices Menu: ** limited choices Ambiance: *** Service: **** Parking: *** validated at Hyatt Centric Waikiki While searching for Japanese bars, Zigu came up with a Yelp review of 4.3, so I decided to gave it a try. Zigu is located just off Kuhio Avenue and occupies a decent size indoor/outdoor space. The dishes we had were good, but the menu is limited. if you're looking for a bar with Japanese food, Zigu would be fine. If you're looking for a Japanese restaurant in Waikiki, I would go to Restaurant Suntory. Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
