Zola + BarZola Palo Alto Reviews from The Last Year

Only had cocktails there, but they were delicious and beautifully made. The bartenders were attentive and friendly. It was a bit loud, but we will definitely be back for dinner.
Came here alone one night and sat at the bar.
I've been here twice before but never by myself. The ambiance is very dark and romantic, which I love. To start off I got the bread service which was very yummy, followed by a short rib dish ( I forgot the name sorry!! ) The bartender was super friendly and even gave me a free shot which was so nice since I was alone. I finished off the night with a crème brûlée that was the definition of perfection. I am so lucky to live a few blocks away from this place :)

Middling experience at recent Saturday night dinner for three. Pleasant outside table. Friendly wait staff. Cocktail and mocktail were very good. For starters, shared the crepe and endive salad, which were both excellent. Entrees less so. Bouillabaisse was generous but served cold and under-seasoned. Gnocchi was tasty but a small portion (6 pieces). New York steak at $59 was very disappointing - half of it was inedible due to fat or gristle. It was also under-seasoned. At $330 for above, plus one glass of wine (3 beverages total) including tax and tip, we are unlikely to return.

Great ambience, pretty good service, but subpar food - the escargot was on the bland side (especially for a French restaurant), and the pork chop was SO salty I could not finish it. The pork was cooked well but I feel like I have never encountered such a salty sauce, (and I love salt/am the type to always add a little extra). With all that being said I found this place to be overpriced and would not recommend for the food - would maybe drop in for a drink, as the posh bustling atmosphere is nice and I imagine it'd be a nice place to have wine with friends, but for dinner alone, I'd say go elsewhere.

Me and my husband had a wedding anniversary and didn't really plan on a place to go, just went with the flow of a random choice. Never been to this restaurant before. It's a bit noisy inside, especially next to the bar. Food was pretty good, though it took a while for our order to be taken. Gnocchi with mushrooms were tasty, NY steak done to my husband liking. I got a moc cocktail done for my taste and even got a free dessert for our anniversary. Stuff is knowledgeable and nice.
9:00pm reservation.
Arrived early, was seated at 9:20pm Waitress took so long to take our order another person had to jump in Bread: ehh not good not bad. I've had better free bread Bone marrow: sour, one of the worst bone marrow I've had Beef cheek: way to salty Fish cod: zero flavor at all, like eating cardboard Overall a bad dinner and experience overall. Will not be back

Beautiful space, came here with some coworkers and we were all impressed. The food and drinks were all great, nothing was disappointing but have to say the star was the creme brulee. I've never had creme brulee that good (as someone who doesnt usually gravitate to that dessert) I tried some of my coworker's and was very sad I didn't have my own. I'll go back for sure!
Ideally, 3.
5/5 Zola + BarZola boasts a charming atmosphere and impressive menu, but be prepared to settle in for the long haul. While the wait was longer than ideal, the food itself was largely satisfying. The restaurant was busy on a weekday when we got there, so we were seated outside. Thankfully, they had heaters to keep us warm while we dined. Food: The cote de porc (pork chop) with porcini rub, pommes puree, and caramelized onions was delicious. The pork was perfectly cooked, juicy on the inside, and with a satisfyingly crisp exterior. The mashed potatoes (pommes puree) were very creamy and had a smooth, velvety texture. It complimented the pork chop really well. The hanger steak was tender and flavorful, seasoned well, and cooked to a perfect medium-rare. The beef cheek bourguignon was Slow-cooked to melt-in-your-mouth tenderness, but the sauce didn't quite hit the spot. Overall, this dish was okay. Ambiance: The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The dimmed lighting and comfortable seating created a perfect setting for a relaxed evening. Service: The slow service significantly impacted the experience. Our wait time between drinks and our main course was quite long, which unfortunately detracted from the overall flow of the meal. Overall, Zola + BarZola offers delicious food and a lovely atmosphere. If you're looking for a leisurely luxurious dining experience and don't mind waiting a bit between courses, then Zola + BarZola could be a good option. However, if you're short on time or prioritize fast service, you might want to consider another restaurant.
A very unprofessional restaurant.
Unbelievable weird service team and owner. We left right away without eating there because we were not sure what we would be served. All service team wear random casual personal clothing. No uniform. Movers kept moving stacks of cardboards from the kitchen (??) while guests having dinner. The Chef (??) wearing an apron kept wandering in the dining area for unknown reason - not checking on guests for sure. Like some reviews mentioned previously, their host, Nathan, is very rude. Worst of all bay area.
Busy on a Friday night.
Enjoyed the clams and pork chop. Chocolate mousse was good. Awesome to Get a free birthday pin and drinks!

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
